Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

I think John Connor will be in this film with Furlong playing the character CGI like how Arnold played his character CGI in Salvation

Even if I'm wrong...and Furlong really shows up as John then he probably will show up in this film at the end similar to how Mark Hamill showed up in Force Awakens at the very end

Then how about Kyle Reese how do they address Kyle in this timeline since he was born in the 2000s and Kyle fast forward to 2019 Kyle would be a teenager in this Dark Fate timeline

I don't want to get too caught up in continuity. Just give me a slam bang fast moving story with a Kick Ass Return of Sarah Connor.

They don’t, they already did that in Genisys.

I think a problem is they tend to get too caught up with the mythology and previously established things to make something great. I mean Kyle Reese is a good example. He's a character we all know and like from T1, I enjoyed seeing his face in the extended version of T2 but then we get to Salvation where I don't even remember anything about him other than him being in it and obviously in Genesys he had to be dug up again because REFERENCE.

For me the best way to go about it in the new one would just be not to include him at all. By not mentioning him or featuring him you at least leave it open that he's out there somewhere, he's just not part of this story. To me this is part of a bigger problem that Redlettermedia brought up with the new Star Wars movies. By constantly putting the same things in your movies you are shrinking the universe. In this case of Terminator, by always having Reese or John Connor or the T800 you're not really proving a point that "we can do anything in this sandbox" but rather you don't really have any ideas for how to expand outside the ideas brought up by Cameron in T1 and T2.

Part of me hopes we do get a good sequel because I like the idea of Arnold as the terminator and Linda Hamilton back and T2 is so amazing that even though I know they can't top it, if they can make a movie at least half as good as it, I will think "hey we had some bad sequels but at least this was a decent entry". I get that the central idea is to prevent John Connor from becoming a leader of the resistance and they tried by killing young Sarah Connor and young John Connor but if you really had the balls you could go back even further to like the late 50s/early 60s and have a terminator sent back to kill Sarah Connor's parents. Plotwise it would perhaps feel like a stretch but the further back you go with a terminator the stronger they become as there's less powerful weapons available to fight them. To reference Redlettermedia a second time in this post they jokingly said in their Genesys review that they should send a terminator back to the wild west and even though that sounds ridiculous, that could be entertaining to watch. At least more than the last 3 movies.

They should have just did that all along by trying to kill Sarah as a child or the Terminator unit model goes back to target Sarah's parents to prevent her from ever being born which stops John from being born

I commissioned an artist to draw up my concept of Sarah Connor from my Terminator 2020 future war concept.

Just watched Terminator: Salvation a while ago and it's still a guilty pleasure. Not great in comparison to the first two films but still an underrated action movie! I like that it's different and set in a new future after the events of T2 and T3 while featuring new characters and interesting new sides of old ones like John Connor, Kyle Reese and Kate Brewster.

The story is more interesting than T3 's or Genysis and I enjoyed the cast a lot including Sam Warrington(sure better than Jay Courtney).

T2
T1
Salvation
T3
Genysis

Just realised the franchise has amazing-awesome vehicle chase scenes. I love me some chase scenes!

What is with the dopey Edge of Tomorrow-esque horde of robots with tentacles? That dumb **** reminded me of Salvation.

I just hope Mackenzie Davis doesn't doesn't stand out as the worst part of the movie. I'm not feeling what I've seen

Should I give Salvation another chance? I saw it once when it came out and it was such a disappointment (even though some parts of it looked promising).

one thing those clips showed us, in these chases, windshields are kind of incidental, they all seem to be knocked away.

I enjoy it. It's pretty flawed for sure, but it's the best of the sequels thus far imo. I like the grungy aesthetic a lot and appreciate that it wasn't just regurgitating the "terminator comes from future to eliminate savior" plotline.

Probably. I'm in the camp of I don't think it was all that terrible, but it was really misguided in some ways in the story. The aesthetic and atmosphere is on point though.

I remember there were rumors during Salvation's production that it was the start of a new trilogy. It was known that John Connor would be a side character for a lot of Salvation with the focus on other characters but he was suppose to be the main protagonist during the last two films.

I wanted to see that trilogy but then there were issues with the rights and Genisys was made instead

Every time we’ve had a third chapter, it was supposed to be the beginning of a new trilogy.

Rise of the Machines was supposed to spawn one.
Salvation was supposed to spawn one.
Genysis was supposed to spawn one.

Obviously they’re betting that Dark Fate spawns one.

What franchise was it that made studios trilogy crazy? I feel like it was The Matrix.

I just love that song Hunter in the trailer for this film

None, if you ask me.
What changed is the planed trilogy and/or final splited in two movies (usually from existing properties, rarely original creation). In that regard, I think LoTR was one of the precursor.
