Action-Adventure Terminator: Dark Fate

Ok I'm looking forward to this again with these recent posts. I have only one question: do they use the classic Terminator theme music?

The score was great and yes the theme is in there when it needs to be. In some parts it even has some Mad Max: Fury Road vibes during the action sequences for obvious reasons. The scores for the last three films were all underwhelming for me so I was very satisfied to hear what Junkie XL came up with. He definitely played with some of the classic sounds and motifs from the previous films, especially from T2. T2 had this menacing vibrating metallic sound whenever the T-1000 was on the hunt and Junkie brought that back here for the Rev 9.

Does the movie have the theme in the beginning like the other films?

So how does Terminator Carl fit into this new this timeline? Who sent him from the new future to be a guardian old man or what? How does he even look like Arnold with a new future? I guess the T-800 assembly line template is fated for any future tweaks

I heard there's future scenes. Any good stuff that shows the new future than just action and explaining?

The opening scene of Terminator: Dark Fate is upsetting a lot of people but for me, it was too quick to make much of an impact.

The cast is really strong for the most part. Mackenzie Davis is a welcome addition and it’s great to see Linda Hamilton back. This is easily Arnold Schwarzenegger’s best work in the franchise since T2. I kind of loved the Rev 9 as a a machine. It feels like what the T-X should have been. It’s hard for Gabriel Luna to follow in the footsteps of Arnold and Robert Patrick but he does a good job. Natalia Reyes plays a character (and actress) that is still trying to find her footing here. There’s one scene particular that is quite bad, the dialogue does not help.

The action is pretty good, but the end sequence is a bit too over the top for my tastes. It’s literally a combination of all the previous Terminator movies, A-Team and the Fast & Furious franchise.

Much like the end sequence, the story is rehashing what has come before it. The future has changed but the past plays out much the same. Still, the leads do a good job pulling it forward. Their performances and the majority of the action scenes made it enjoyable for me. 7/10

His not from the new future. His a terminator sent back from the Skynet future. Skynet sent several more terminators seen then the original t800 and t1000.

Carl was just the Terminator that completed it's mission and lost purpose because Skynet was destroyed and John dead.

The trailers don't appropriately convey the viciousness or intensity of the fantastic action set pieces in the movie. The first 25 minutes had me on the edge of my seat. That first trailer was a real dud and whoever cut it, and added in that boring indie music made a giant mistake.

I honestly can't wait to see it again.

I feel the action was well made and entertaining, but I wouldn't call it vicious. Clean and sterile would be the words I would use.

Saw the film myself and yeah I liked it a lot. Way better than I expected! For me..

Terminator 2: Judgment Day
The Terminator
Terminator: Dark Fate
Terminator: Salvation
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
Terminator: Genisys

Genisys is the only one I hate!

That's fantastic! I'm really glad to see so many people enjoying it.

I'd have to watch Salvation again but I'm pretty sure I'd rate it above this. Dark Fate has the bare bones of a fine and worthy film, but ended up generic and lacked the gravitas it was trying so hard to capture. I wish the "For John" had resonated with me more but they were too busy telling a whole other story for it to have any impact.

As much as I hate to say it because I love Mackenzie Davis in a lot of things I've seen her in, and she was fine in this film, but the character wasn't necessary. Had the plot centred on Carl, Dani and Sarah I think we would have gotten a much more tighter, emotionally resonating, story.

Well it's kinda neccessary for someone from Dani's future to try to keep her safe from one of her future's terminators. Grace does have a good emotional connection to Dani as well

It would have been more interesting though if Future Dani herself came to protect her younger self

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton still did it for me and especially Arnold over Genisys .

I hope this is it for Arnold and this franchise though

Gotta wait till Thursday but honestly as a huuuge T2 fan, I havent been so hyped for a movie since Phantom menace. Sure, theres been a "official" T2 continuation in 2003 but I never gave it much canon weight. But this is different. This is the real deal for me. Ugh cant freakin wait

Not really.

Nothing about the time travel makes sense anymore. The sequels couldn't do it, and this one couldn't do it either.

In the original, the time travel was simple and made sense.
