Terminator: Genisys - Part 3

Once upon a time terminator 1/2 was the high quality goal that every action movie wanted to reach but now its become generic and bland.

I think mcg and mostow were always goin to have trouble trying to make a sequel tofollow the originals but were never goin to be able to deliever the quality we had become use to from James Cameron, and now with this new guy goin back to the origin films he has made his job even harder. How does one try recreate the brilliance of the originals.

neither does Arnie but they have a young cgi version of him in this.

This just screams "MEHHHHHHH" to me. It felt like I was watching a mashup of all the previous Terminator films. And the younger Arnold looks like they recycled the same CGI model from Terminator Salvation.

I think I'm in that "the trailer wasn't as bad as I thought it would be" crowd. Really, based on those disastrous EW photos and what bits of plot info we had to go by, there was almost no place this thing could go but up in the court of public opinion. Granted, the film itself would have to be a complete dumpster fire if the people behind it couldn't even string together enough decent footage for a 2 minute trailer, but hey, we've all been burned before.

What gives me pause is Jai Courtney. I have no idea how he'll do in the film - maybe he'll knock it out of the park - but he seems like such an obvious misfire that I question the sincerity of the filmmakers and how well they actually understand the material. To me, Kyle's appearance, demeanor, and physique in T1 felt like very deliberate character work; he's a guy living in a war zone, dealing with stress and limited resources; he's scrappy, slight and wiry, but with enormous cajones and street smarts. That's why believe he can plausibly fight against a Terminator and win.

Conversely, Jai Courtney looks as if he's consuming 200+ grams of protein per day while eating nothing but broccoli, grilled chicken breast and sweet potatoes prepared by a personal trainer every two hours. He looks like a Terminator, which from a character standpoint just feels wrong. But, I guess we'll see.

Frankly I would be a lot less opposed to Courtney's inclusion were he playing a Terminator.

You know, I've never really cared for Sarah or Kyle in the first movie. I like the roles they play in the story, but the performances never caught on with me.

That's ....interesting,

some regard them as some of the greatest characters ever of Adult-themed movies

I'll admit I never bought Linda Hamilton being 19, but she completely embodied what Sarah Conner should've been (at that time in her life). MB as Kyle was absolute perfection.

Not gonna lie, I've always kinda felt that way too. I didn't really care about Sarah Connor 'til she became a badass. Then I retroactively appreciated her whole journey a lot more. But I never cared one way or another about Kyle Reese, tbh.

I'm actually looking forward to this and here's why....

The trailer just left me cold, Sam Mendes poshly waffling at the Spectre press conference was more exciting. None of the action popped at all, Arnie is like a parody of himself these days and Kiddy Connor and Jock Reese look dreadful.

"Kiddy Connor and Jock Reese." :hrt:

Salvation was a disappointment, but Anton Yelchin made a great Kyle Reese.

Some of us aren't just judging this based on the trailer. The plot leaked. I know what it is, what changes have been made to the mythology, the villain and the ending. There is genuine cause to be concerned. The trailer is the least of this production's problems, so let's drop the you can't judge a movie by it's trailer! :o

As bad as Salvation is, at least McG was good at casting, I'll give him that much! :o Even his cancelled Superman film had a killer cast attached. (He originally cast Cavill as Superman).

I'm actually looking forward to this. I thought Salvation was a decent movie actually. Nothing to write home about but I enjoyed it.

I have yet to hate a terminator movie but this looks really really bad. This trailer makes terminator salvation look amazing. This movie just looks to much like terminator 1 and 2 like they have no new ideas. I am really really dissapotited right now.:cmad::csad:

Looks like a simultaneous remake of both Terminator 1 and 2.
