Terminator: Genisys - Part 4

How does the Terminator look worse than it did 30 years ago?

This movie is going to have some top notch action. The future war scenes look awesome.

If anything they should have not cast Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese but if they went with someone else like Gyllenhaal as Kyle or even Gosling or Hedlund as Reese I would have been all right with that because Courtney is all wrong for Reese

But at least with Sarah Connor, Emilia Clarke is perfect casting as far as I am concerned

But it is because of Arnie being back in this franchise that is why I am even going to go see this

I thought the guy they cast as John Conner is awesome from the footage the trailer shows.

My mind literally screamed dammit when I saw him in the trailer.

He was good in Felony too, imo. Yeah, Courtney's been in some bad movies that he failed to "elevate" or whatever, but he's never been the worst one in them (or at least the ones that I've seen). At worst, he's been "meh" and at times, he's been "good." Either way, he hardly deserves all the hate he gets around here if you ask me. People act like he's another Sam Worthington or something...but at the very least unlike Sam he can actually change his accent, doesn't speak in monotone, and is willing to put in the work required for a role.

Agreed.

I even don't think he's terrible for Kyle Reese. Not who I wouldve chosen but I have way more reservations with this project. Courtney is low on the list

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Courtney isn't the next Brando or anything, but like you said, he can do a very good American accent (I didn't even know he was Australian until someone said it in one of the Suicide Squad threads) and he's willing to put in the work to at least have the build of an action hero. That's more than I can say for Sam Worthington.

Im guessing that people/nerds really dislike him because he's being pushed as the next big thing and getting these huge fanboy roles, while he has barely proven himself

I thought Sam Worthington was fine in Avatar and Salvation. I dont really get the hatred there either.

I thought Sam was good in exactly one role: Somersault. In which he got to be Australian and play a generally repressed kind of guy. And when he first came to Hollywood, I defended him because of that movie. But in American movies, his ever-changing accent very quickly began to annoy me, partially because it seems like he's not even trying to improve. I mean, there are actors speaking English as a second language that suppress their accents better than him. And after that quote about how he won't go to the gym for a role, I get the impression he's just not interested in putting in much effort at all. Throw in the monotone line deliveries, and you've got several performances that I've found him to be actively bad in - making the movies around him worse. So I don't find Jai Courtney to be a comparable case at all. I think he's actually demonstrated some sort of range and talent, throughout....some of his roles, lol.

I just think he's incredibly dull. He won't ruin the film , but it will feel like a wasted opportunity.

To be fair Sam was actually one of the best things in Sabotage, which in itself was a mess of a movie. But when he plays the 'straight man', he doesn't add anything to the role. I never felt captivated by him, or at least admired his nobility or whatever. He's just there.
