Terminator: Genisys - Part 4

Jason Clarke could he actually get the role of John Connor right? Could he do what Furlong, Stahl and Bale failed to do and that is play Connor with an actual convincing tone in the sense that he could actually pull off being Earth's savior?

I don't think it's fair to group Furlong in with the other two. He was playing Connor as a kid. I don't know that anyone at that age would have exactly exuded "earth's savior." It's not like he's a version of Jesus or Aslan or something.

But the other two... yeah, Stahl just came off like a loser and Bale COULD have been an epic Connor but that script failed him HARD. Supposedly he helped rewrite it because the character was even worse in the original version. That's hard to imagine.

I think I read that in a draft he was literally just a voice on the radio. That's it.

Which I think was really stupid. I think a Terminator movie should be a story of John or Sarah Connor

The I'll be back stuff mean much to me anymore(although I loved it in the Expendables movies)but it doesn't bother me either

Yeah, I think you're right. That's just silly.

"AYE'VE BEEYAN VAITUNG FOR YAH" needs to become the new "I'LL BE BACK."

So arnold should retire from acting because some picky fans don't find him relevant anymore? He's done fine in all of his films since being back after being a governor and the marriage scandal. Yeah his best project so far has been his autobiography book(Total Recal)and being in the Expendables movies but his new stuff haven't been such a complete failure either.

We're not picky fans. What makes us picky, that we don't like the mediocre to bad movies he puts out? I mean really was anyone impressed by Last Stand, Escape Plan, or Sabotage?

He hasnt made in many people's opinion a decent movie in a long time. If he was making good movies that werent that successful financially it'd be whatever. But just limping on like he has been for the last couple of years is kinda sad.

That being said, I'll just stop watching his movies. But I'd say retire or at least pick better roles. I heard Sabotage was supposed to be a lot different then the final product which is a shame

Clarke is fine as an actress. And I like her character on GoT.

It's one of those things where there are far more interesting characters on the show, but it doesn't make her acting 'bad'. I can't see anyone else elevating the lines that she has.
You are really short changing a lot of great young actresses.

This film looks like a parody from a Family Guy sketch/cutaway gag.
And you nailed it.

I can't believe they are using White House Down's chopper CGI work. The way Arnie dives into the rotators at the end feels very Homer Simpson.
I can't get this image out of my head now. Homer dive bombing, expressionless. :funny:

I enjoyed The Last Stand, but that is it really. Arnold became a legend by being in great films. This elevated his other work to cult status. He is not 20 years past his prime and making crap trying the same shtick. At least Sly pulled Rocky Balboa out of his backside.

Haven't seen Sabotage, but I thought The Last Stand and Escape Plan were decent. At the very least they did feel like 80s action movies in spirit.

I enjoy arnold still making films but I admit he should not be doing this movie and willis should have left Die Hard alone after Vengeance. Sly left Rambo and Rocky while Gibson left Lethal Weapon and Mad Max.

Conan could be interesting but for terminator they should have just done a cgi arnold for a scene like in Savation. Now they had this whole subplot of an old/guardian terminator because of arnold

Arnold Schwarzenegger is no longer relevant and all of his recent films have bombed.

I disagree. I find all this "Arnold is irrelevant" talk to be somewhat overblown. Is he as relevant as he was during his heyday? Obviously not. But that's not exactly uncommon. That happens to nearly every actor as they get older.

As long as people love his movies, he'll be relevant.

The box office seems to indicate otherwise.

His new movies haven't best top box office hits but neither that much of bombs

Uh, his two solo efforts, "Sabotage" and "The Last Stand", both bombed horribly.

I wasnt aware that Escape Plan actually didnt do bad. 157 mill WW on a $50 mill budget.
Last Stand made 3 million over its budget
Sabotage made 35 mill on a $17.5 million budget.

My thing is that theyre below average movies. AS I said, I couldnt care less whether they underperform or not, I more care about if theyre good which from the ones I saw they werent

You do realize that they only get roughly half the box office, less from foreign countries, and that the budget doesn't include distribution and marketing right? They bombed, bad.

Escape Plan had Sly and made the majority of its money overseas. It also only made $137m WW.
