Sam Worthington, people give him crap but I liked him in TS and Avatar.

You can crap all over Sam Worthington as you please but he was fine in TS ( the overall quality of the movie is another matter ), he was even better than Bale.

No he wasn't. He sucked, and so did the movie. The only reason he seemed better than Bale was because Bale's character was written absolutely horribly.

I agree. While I thought Bale was the best John Connor, I found Worthington's story to be just so interesting.

You can complain about Jai Courtney as much as you want, but while he isn't anything special, at least he isn't THE lead. Kyle Reese IS the lead. Arnold may have top billing but If the script is anything to go by, Reese has more screentime than any other character. Remember, unlike any of the other characters, Kyle Reese will appear in ALL of the time periods this film will cover.

Worthington was at least cast as a Terminator. He fit the role. They've (mis)cast Courtney in one of the central roles in the Terminator mythology, where it's already been clearly defined by what's required of it and it's a complete 180 from Jai Courtney.

Avatar & Titans are irrelevant to the discussion at hand. We're talking about Terminator and how these two respective actors were used and in what capacity.

Casting Courtney is Reese is a HUGE misfire. That's not debatable. It would have been akin to Arnold playing Reese in the original film.

Worthington wasn't cast as Reese though, which is why I don't understand the comparison between the two (other than the superficial differences).

Courtney should be compared to the previous actors who have played Kyle Reese and he falls WAY, WAY short. For all of Salvation's faults, at least they got the casting right.

He was struggling with his humanity. It added a new dimension to the Terminator character.

I found Courtney to be downright lovable in Spartacus (and never even found Sam "likeable" in anything except maybe Somersault), but that's me.
