I was about 15 and naive when T3 came out and was let down and then when T : salvation came out i was blinded by Bale being cast as John but once again disappointed, i am prepared for genisys to be horrible which is why i don't mind getting excited to see what they do.

Give me the trailer already!

I do not see why the main focus of a Termiantor movie would be time-travel. Time travel was there to create the set-up but turning this into a real time-travel movie seems wrong to me. They should have done the future war like it looked in T2.

It may or may not "need" to be but it's certainly a legitimate option and they're doing it.

Paramount must be insanely confident that Genisys is a hit... but doing that can bite them in the ass. Just look at Sony jumping the gun before Amazing Spider-Man 2 coming out, then pretty much putting them in turnaround once the b.o. results came in.

Why I ask? Let's see if Genisys will be a hit with fans and or critics compared to the last two in the franchise.

You can only do this **** so many ways, that's the thing of it. Don't get so grandiose that you forget your core concepts.

Well the Spider-man comparison does not really work here. Sony did that because Spidey is a massive icon that always sells. So they did that because of the name. Terminator really is not a big name. The Elingstons must see some something in what they've seen. We shall see.

Terminator isn't a big name? I know the last two were crap and crapper but the first two are simply put, great.

Yes they are. But in terms of popularity now? Not so much.

i think claiming they have spots for sequels is a marketing ploy

...probably not. The only ones who will know/care are small amounts of internet fanboys.

This has nothing to do with confidence. They lose the rights to the franchise in four years. The copyright reverts back to Cameron for good in 2018. That was the caveat when Megan Ellison originally bought the franchise. If they have any hope of making sequels (or a trilogy), they have to quickly put them into production after the first film is released. That's why they're aiming to shoot the sequels back-to-back.

didn't they announce a million sequels for after salvatoin?

Its just what Hollywood does. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

McG was hoping so, thinking that was going to be his moment in the sun!

But it turns out he made another piece of ****, like the rest of his filmography.

They do loose the rights. But regardless if the films suck they won't get a return and lose money. Business does require caution. And the one person I trust out of all of this the most is the Ellison siblings. I mean ya the films could end up not being good, but I don't think after Salvation it will be easy to bring in the Box Office numbers that Terminator used to. So there very well could be some confidence behind what they are doing.

I have no idea how Genisys will turn out but I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with confidence. The time clock on the franchise is ticking and they know it. If the movie fails, they'll just scrap the release dates, no harm no foul but if it works, they can proceed (having already staked out release dates).

They're attempting to make three Terminator films in four years. I wonder why they're in such a rush? :hmm

People still rank the first two among their favorite movies ever. T2 is often listed as not only one of the greatest sequels ever, but also one of the greatest action movies ever.

Yeah, they did this with Salvation, saying it was the 1st in a new trilogy, look what happened there.

They're just planting flags for opening weekends. With Marvel and DC announcing release dates 5 years out without even a property attached, other studios have to do the same.

This is going to make me bank for sure, as long as they market it well, Salvation didn't do as big as it should have though.
