Terminator: Salvation - Part 3

This is a place to discuss Terminator: Salvation is all it's glory/not-goodness.

Since the original thread has been locked down, here it is. The place to discuss the movie, your gripes, your applause, and your general opinions about this movie.

Just like Arnie said.... "I'll be back!"

So, how many of you are picking it up on DVD?

Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would be back.

The former Governor of California is considering a new Terminator movie role.

Speaking to fans at the not-so-imaginatively titled "Arnold Seminar” the Austrian strongman said there are around 15 scripts he is currently considering, including a return to his most famous franchise.

“Well, first of all it's more 15 films,” he told Arnold Fans. “Obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man and all of those things.”
Arnie's digital cameo in Terminator: Salvation was disappointing

The 63-year-old added that he was also considering “a lot of original stuff” and is planning on a comic book-inspired movie.

"I am also packaging a comic book character right now," he said. "I'm going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April."

He did not elaborate on which comic character he was talking about, or even if it was an existing cartoon figure. What a tease.

lol

How would a 65 year old Arnold come back to film a terminator role if his body and looks are no where close to The original or T2.

Motion Capture.

I thought it was great how they brought him back in Salvation

Soo they plan to do that for an entire movie?

I really want this new T-Movie to happen, I need my Terminator fix!

i would love to see a new terminator film taking place after salvation. altho i wouldnt mind seeing an older john conner, christian bale would still be cool to see come back for the part again. as far as arnold is considered, i dont find it necessary to bring him back, again. BUT, if they do, they should embrace his older status and not make him a machine. maybe find a cool way to bring his real-life counterpart into the movie and make him an older veteran willing to fight, fully aware that the t-800s were based off him and not quite the character john conner remembers the face being. doesnt have to be a main character, but would be cool to see onscreen for a good 30 minutes.

still wonder if they are going to leap frog a little bit more into the future to witness the creation of the time portal or the t-1000. i think it would be cooler to see what came between the t-850 and t-900. what led into the making of liquid metal? we kno they went from the t-1000 to the t-x which is a combo of liquid and mechanical parts, but there had to be some kind of advancement which gives the t-900 more powerful weapons. obviously he cant be sent through time so it would make sense that in the original timeline the regular skeleton was sent back and didnt posses any internal weapons.

i just hope what older reports had mentioned about john conner going back in time is NOT true. i dont want to see that. stay in the future. but i dont kno what kind of plot they would have if sending advanced robots back in time to kill john or sarah is the threat. if they destroy the time displacement machine- i kno it wont effect the present, since it already happened, but that means they kno its all up to them right there and then. i just wonder what else they could possibly do for this franchise now that the future has caught up with the films.

Anyone know how this worked? It looked just like Arnie, but he wasn't in the movie. And I thought Hollywood couldn't buy actors faces anymore. Or use them without permission, even if that face is associated with that character if you can't get that actor you have to use someone else. So how come they were allowed to use it in this movie, even though he didn't want to be in it?

He did want to be in it. He went down to the shoot and had them motion capture his face in two shots and then he left.

Jeff Bridges was acting as Clu. the terminator is moving like a robot. you dont need Arnold in the motion capture suit for that. everyone on this planet can move hes face like him.

plus terminator is over. a studio investing money into this is crazy IMO.

But I don't even remember him being credited in Salvation...
Because it was an uncredited cameo. I remember the pictures that surfaced when he went to the set.

That's why they did two shots of him with dots on his face then they sent him home. Everything (shoulder up) was pretty much CG.

The digital Arnold was actually created from a body-cast mold from the first film. Arnold never did any motion-capture work or have any participation in the production, other than giving them his permission to use his likeness in the film.

Those pics of Arnold and Bale weren't from the set:

TheArnoldFans: We've seen the photo taken awhile ago of you meeting Arnold (green shirt) and Maria. How was it meeting the original Terminator?

Christian Bale: (smiles) Well, obviously I didn't meet him on the set. He didn't have to spend one minute of his time there but strangely, I just bumped into him a few times and I've worked with some of his family members in the past and so there's a kind of recognition.

 Whoops! I guess I just took rumours surrounding the photos from a few years ago as fact.

The CGI Arnold in Salvation was pathetic. Please just let the series die. 2 absolutely horrible sequels is enough.

Cheers for clearing that up! I was going to say, it'd be a bit weird if their biggest star wasn't even credited if he went and did motion capture. Regardless, this is the only Terminator movie I liked bar the first. *shrug*
