My 4th was just made! I read that Dan Slott is FINALLY coming to the Emerald City Comic Con!!! Now, I have to decide what to get signed by him. Definitely his first issue, the Mighty Mouse one. OH, man. I can't wait!

You faked me out. I thought this was going to be an official announcement that Dan Slott was gonna be writing Amazing Spider-Man as the one sole writer. Poo sticks!

Dan needs to start coming to the Pittsburgh Comic Con. I'll bring the beers. I'll bring the beers.

There is a rumor going around that Amazing Spider-Man will be coming out twice a month instead with Slott as the sole writer.

Yeah, I know about that rumor. I thought that it was an "official" announcement, so to speak.

The next ECC isn't until March, right? I went this year and it was a lot of fun. It was also my first convention as an adult. I had no clue you could actually get writer/artist autographs and stuff. Slott's one of my favorite writer's right now, so I'd be happy to get an autograph from him. I'd probably ask him to sign ASM #600 as that was one of the best Spidey comics I've read in years.

Phaedrus, do you have a link to this announcement? Hopefully I'll still be living in Sea-town by then.

He needs to swing around Baltimore Comic Con again. So he can see I don't actually only disagree with him. Though he's pretty much already signed every major or favorite She Hulk, Avengers Initiative, or Thing comic of mine.

Damn Hype! I answered this already earlier...but, all week it just keeps giving me problems.

Anyway, I'm definitely going to get my #600 signed...I just don't know if I'll bring all 3 or 4 different covers that I owned all signed, too. I'm gonna have quite a stack for him. I really hate doing that; but, at least I'm not one of the guys who has 50-100 just for one person to give signatures too, which they just sell afterwards. Mine will stay with me until I die, and then the kids can do with them as they please.

Anyway, here is the info again about the comic con.

They've increased it to three days now, which is good. I brought three to four short boxes last time I wanted signed, and I had one small box of signatures I never got around to. It's amazing how long it takes to get it done, especially when some don't show or you have to keep going back to when a person is sitting at their seat. They've already got a good line-up going!

Also check out this one in September. It's only one day, but the small ones are kind of nice. It's also in Seattle, and is called the Jet City Comic Con.

And, I went to this one last year. Again, not a big list of artists/writers; but, lots of locals showed up, including Jeff Parker. It's a small drive to Portland, Oregon; but, I found it well worth it. Very few people getting signatures. Most are there for the vendors; so, the artists and writers really like to see people coming up with their work to be signed.

As I've tried to post a few times on here...but, I keep getting error messages, we need a Comic Con thread for those who want to brag, talk about, ask questions about, or anything else related to comic cons. Just not sure what's the best location for it on The Hype.

Hmm, I didn't know of the Jet City Comic Con. If I have the time and $$$ in September I might check that out, thanks Phaedrus.

Portland would be more of a hassle so there would have to be a big incentive for me to make the trip. But don't a bunch of comic writers live in Oregon? I remember at the Marvel Panel at ECC a bunch of them said they lived there. I think Bendis actually made a joke that moving to Portland was a great way to break into comics.

I went to the 2010 ECC mainly to get a photo with Stan Lee. But one thing that made the experience really cool was getting a sketch from a Brave and The Bold cartoon designer. If he comes back next year, coupled with Slott coming then I'll have to go. And yeah that's cool they extend it to three days. Think they'll shell out the cash for Stan again?

Yeah, I got my Amazing Fantasy 15 signed by Stan. I hear it's kind of stupid to get something that old signed and might actually decrease the value of the book...but, it's not in that great a shape as it is. The previous owner put tape next to the spine.

It would be cool to have Stan again...but, he and Nimoy created such a crowded mess, I'd almost prefer them not to return.

I was disappointed, because I was going to get a lot of the DC writers and artists during the second half of the last day...but, they left pretty early...so, all my Johns books never got signed. (And, I had to wait so long in the Brubaker and Bendis lines. At least Quesada's line went pretty quick.)

Portland hasn't gotten a lot of people listed as guests yet...but, one HUGE person for me is Val Mayerik. Val was a co-creator of Howard The Duck, and did a lot of Marvel 70's art work, like Man-Thing and Ka-zar.

Here is the comic book db of him.

It's these old, rare artists that I go ga-ga over. It's easy to get a Bendis signature...much harder to get the classics signed.
