Report: New Creative Direction Discussed For WWE Main Event Program

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE officials have discussed the idea of having the WWE Main Event program center around the Intercontinental Title, much like Raw centers around the WWE Title and Smackdown centers around the WWE World Title.

It was announced a couple weeks ago that an Intercontinental Cup tournament would be taking place on Main Event, and WWE even went as far as announcing participants in the tournament, however, the Cup was ultimately scrapped by the company in favor of a different direction for Wade Barrett.

As of now, there has been no confirmation as to whether or not WWE plans to bring the Intercontinental Cup back at some point, however the idea of a mid-card title being featured on Main Event has at least been discussed internally.

My Review of the Elimination Chamber matches:

Survivor Series 2002 - The all-time classic. Rob Van Dam should've won though.

SummerSlam 2003 - I hated Goldberg at the time, but looking back on it, it was a horrible decision to have Triple H retain. That Phoenix crowd was PISSED!

New Year's Revolution 2005 - This was actually a good match, but Triple H winning back the title that was stripped from him was a complete troll move.

New Year's Revolution 2006 - Angle gets eliminated first with Carlito and fu**ing Masters making it to the end? Such nonsense. Thank God Edge made the save afterwards!

December To Dismember - Bobby Lashley won and nobody gave a sh**. Again, RVD should've won.

SD No Way Out 2008 - The Undertaker somehow made this enjoyable to watch considering it had two guys that absolutely sucked in it.

RAW No Way Out 2008 - I didn't mind Triple H winning this time. This was a really good Elimination Chamber!

SD No Way Out 2009 - People like this one, but it just dragged on too long for me.

RAW No Way Out 2009 - I would've liked this better if Edge had taken out Mike Knox instead of Kofi Kingston.

RAW No Way Out 2010 - One of my favorite Chambers matches. Very fun to watch!

SD No Way Out 2010 - Good match, but I wish The Undertaker had retained since him and Michaels winded up main eventing Wrestlemania anyway.

SD No Way Out 2011 - My favorite Elimination Chamber match ever. Everything booked from start to finish was done perfectly with Edge defending his title in tremendous fashion.

RAW No Way Out 2011 - John Cena won and it was a total buzzkill.

RAW Feb. 2012 - Great match. Chris Jericho being removed from the match was quite clever.

SD Feb. 2012 - I would've enjoyed this so much more if Santino hadn't been involved. Seriously, he ruined the match for me.

Well I"ll name some others later but #1 is a face Ziggler vs Ambrose feud. With the way those guys sell it would look like the were killing one another.

I'll watch any feud that involves a heel Cena.
Though personally, I think a heel turn would simply "Stone Cold" his character, and would be more baby face with the older members of the audience than he is now. Particularly if he stopped the pandering, lame 5 year old jokes and regained some edge.

The match listing on the IYH Blu Ray set is excellent, I'll definitely pick it up.

Caught up on Impact, the highlight was Roode and Aries winning the tag titles, I love the way they are using their seemingly clashing ego's to throw teams off, pure gold from TNA's best two performers.

I thought Tessmacher vs Tara was the other stand out match, with Velvet and Tess both having pinned Tara in consecutive weeks I think we'll see a triple threat for the Knockout's title at Lockdown.

Bully Ray had to be trolling Hogan with the Bully-up, the added call of "Bullymania is running wild!" just sold the hilariously awful moment, I can't wait for the other shoe to drop and Bully to be revealed as the Aces & Eights leader.

WWE only?

Could do both!

TNA list:

1. Austin Aries vs AJ Styles
2. Bobby Roode vs Kurt Angle
3. James Storm vs Bully Ray
4. Jeff Hardy vs Matt Morgan
5. Austin Aries vs James Storm

1. CM Punk vs. Brock Lesnar
2. CM Punk vs. John Cena (Heel)
3. Dolph Ziggler vs. The Rock
4. Sheamus vs. Mark Henry
5. Dolph Ziggler vs. Brock Lesnar

It's a long shot but this would be great.

1. CM Punk vs. Christian
2. Brock Lesnar vs. Chris Jericho
3. Antonio Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler (face )
4. CM Punk vs. Mark Henry
5. Rey Mysterio vs. (heel) Triple H (should have happened years ago, both past their prime, but would still like to see it)

Bonus: The Rock vs. Randy Orton, Cesaro vs. Big Show, Cesaro vs. Cena (sadly we all know how this would end), Cesaro vs. Mark Henry, Christian vs. Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho vs. Daniel Bryan, Jericho vs. Cesaro

Dolph selling Cesaro's power and both utilizing their mat backgrounds would make this a fantastic pairing.

Well I"ll name some others later but #1 is a face Ziggler vs Ambrose feud. With the way those guys sell it would look like the were killing one another.

Heh! I'd love to see it.

1. CM Punk (Face) vs Brock Lesnar
2. CM Punk vs Heel HHH so Punk can get his win
3. Rock vs Orton with Orton going over
4. Cesario vs either Ziggler or Bryan in a fued that elevates both men to ME level
5. Mark Henry destroying either Cena, Sheamus, or Ryback in a fued

I think WWE finally found a way to get me to give them money again.

Great line-up, but I would've included:

Michaels & Diesel Vs. Hart & Yokozuna - IYH 3

Hart Vs. Diesel - IYH 6

Ramon Vs. Vader - Good Friends, Better Enemies

Austin Vs. Vega - Beware Of Dog

Michaels, Johnson, & Sid Vs. Vader, Hart, and Smith - International Incident

Goldust Vs. Mero - Buried Alive

Austin Vs. Undertaker - A Cold Day In Hell

Sasuke vs. Michinoku - Canadian Stampede

Austin Vs. Maivia - D-X

Edge Vs. Hart - Breakdown

With that said, Hart Vs. Smith IYH > SummerSlam 1992. Austin Vs. Helmsley is a really good match! And I have fond memories of the first Last Man Standing match.

Don't watch WWE since 2008, do the Divas still have pillow fights? :D

It's been years since I can remember a pillow fight on Raw, ever since they went PG they toned down severely on some things while somehow amplifying others. Makes no sense but that's WWE for you.

Watching TLC, and it's a fun show imo. I really enjoyed the 6 man tag match..

Also I just want to say that Naomi kicks ass. I haven't seen a diva with offense that exciting since Lita.

Haven't seen you in a while mate, welcome back!

I concur on Naomi.
