...and here we go!

The first 'major' debate of the 2012 election season kicks off tonight in New Hampshire at 8pm on CNN. Will you be watching?

(In keeping with the tradition of the 2008 election season...all debates, primaries, and caucuses will have their own threads to ensure that the political forum continues to run smoothly.)

Discuss. :yay:

I am watching it with Dr. Paul's staff. By far the coolest thing about being in Washington.

I'll be watching it. Nothing else on TV tonight anyways. That and I can do some cleaning while listening to Dr. Paul kick some major ass.

all i know is....i might give Obama another chance come election day. i might

I'll be very curious to see what tone the debate takes tonight.

I am betting that Pawlenty plays soft on Romney while Cain, Santorum and Bachmann take aim at him.

I also bet that Bachmann will say something that will make me withdrawl any chance of support.

I'm pretty sure of that...

What is America's most pressing concern?

"I am a social conservative"

"I am moar social conservative than you" :cmad:

"I am social conservative on steroids" :cmad: :cmad:

*spend 70% of the debate talking about abortion and gay marriage*

*sprinkle some Obama bashing*

"I will blow **** up" - Romney :cmad:

"I like to blow **** up with state of the art airplanes" - Santorum

"I will and like to blow **** up with DONKEYS STRAPPED WITH BOMBS BATHED IN THE NECTOR OF MY JESUSSY BLOOOOOD" :cmad: :cmad: :cmad: - Bachmann

Then they spend 2 minutes glossing over the economy. Saying something about tax cuts and Ronald Reagan this and Ronald Reagan that.

Fin.

Looks like Romney and Paul got the best reception with their introductions.

Does Bachmann not understand the difference between 30 seconds and two minutes?

Not to mention looking like a coward by refusing to stand by his 'Obamneycare' comment.

Damn, Bachmann just got applauded for her attacks on Obama.

So that was Pawlenty? I'm streaming it and just sitting down to dinner, but I had my back to it. I heard but didn't see. Paw-thetic.

It blows my mind when people continually go off topic and over time. It's pretty annoying.

This is why I outsourced the job of watching it to hippie_hunter this time :awesome:

I listened to the first 15-20 minutes. My thoughts:

1. Gingrich coming out to strike at Obama in his introductory remark makes him look desperate.

2. Romney dodged the Romneycare question gracefully if you don't think too much about what he actually said.

3. In all their rush to bash "Obamacare," they (especially Bachmann and Paul) were dishonest in their attack of it for cutting $500 billion out of Medicare (from the Advantage program they no longer support) because they all support (or voted for, in Bachmann and Paul's cases) to end Medicare with Ryan's Plan/Vouchercare.

4. Pawlenty is weak and feckless. King lined him up to deliver an easy haymaker on Romney and he wouldn't do it because of the supposed Reagan "Eleventh Amendment," despite doing EXACTLY that yesterday on Fox News. His inability to throw a punch when Romney is in the room next to him makes Romney look strong/intimidating and Pawlenty look pathetic.

5. Palin's window to enter the race has closed. Bachmann is now on the national GOP stage. She is just as clueless and crazy as Palin in terms of rhetoric, but Bachmann understands syntax and basic sentence structure. She comes off as the coherent Palin while Palin is off hiding from scrutiny.

I've turned it off now. Predictable rhetoric, misleading numbers and the sight of Paul, Cain and Santorum as nothing more than furniture is about what I expected.

ANSWER THE QUESTION!!! Who cares if you like Elvis or Cash???
