The 2012 Presidential Debates: Debate 1

kerry killed Bush in debate 1, and bush wasnt as well liked as O.

Bush didn't say he had pressing national security matters at hand, which is why he lost.

This is why debate 2 is important. Debate 3 won't matter.

If its perceived as a tie or Obama "winning," then the third debate will matter.

The third debate is a debate about foreign policy, it will have the lowest rating and will matter the least. That debate won't clench a win for anyone. If the polls change it will be within the margin of error. This second debate is key. If Obama crushes it, Romney loses. If Romney crushes it again, I think Obama will lose. They are pretty much tied or very close right now in the polls. The last debate was a huge gain for Romney.

I was looking over some of the polling data. That and Andrew Sullivan's spazz out spazztastic moment of spazzing. I am surprised how Romney flipped some many women voters to him in one go.

It should be pointed out most the polls Romney is doing well in are likely voters. Obama has a lead in registered voter lists, so basically in the next month Obama has to find a way to drive out the voters(which i think many will claim down after the don't jump off a cliff after last weeks debate)

I think the perfect example is Gallup tracking. Likely voters has it 48-48, registered voters is 50-45 Obama, same polling company which means Obama has alot of work to do on his own base.

The female jump was one of the most substantial among all demographics. That's my point.

Obama says that he was too polite to Romney in first debate.....yeah right.

:hehe:

Well, he was. It is the obvious truth. Obama seemed extremely hesitant to return fire on Romney, who throwing the kitchen sink at him.

Polite is probably a good word to use, actually. Not saying he WAS polite (hostile body language, etc) , but he that was he was just TOO polite for a debate (didn't say...pretty much any of the things he could have).

No he wasn't. He looked angry and irritated towards Romney, not polite. The man wouldn't even look at him in the eye and looked at him with such disdain that he didn't even think that he had to engage him. And a lot of the things you think Obama should have said, are not things to mention in a debate.

It's not true. If it was, it would have been used as an excuse. He gave a good stump speech the day after in Denver. Did 12 hours suddenly change everything? What's more likely is he didn't have a TelePrompter and an energized crowd to read off of...which he had the day after. Everything else from altitude sickness to unpreparedness due to national issues or smugness is all tertiary to the fact he sucked that night. That's like saying Sarah Palin had other things on her mind that were more important.

To be totally fair, Sarah Palin never has anything on her mind--and I'm being nice here.

If he does well in the next debates what will you attribute that to? Is it possible that he simply had an off night Chase? And if so, how does that characterize him as a polititian ready or not ready for a second term? He might not have defended his own accomplishments (for some silly ass, unknown reason), but he does have many.

I simply refuse to believe this election is about who is the best debator. It's about policies and a modicum of steady belief systems.

From what I saw, Obama was very cordial to Romney before and after the debate and even acknowleged him graciously on areas they agreed on. Yes, there were looks of disgust but...Hippie....

...is it remotely possible that the looks of disdain were generated from....oh, I dunno...the fact that Romney was lying so frequently?

I mean c'mon. Even we as the viewing audience had several back-to-back WTF moments. I can only imagine what Obama was thinking. :whatever:

Obama was thinking.....oh ****, I hope I'm covering my ineptness with the economy, foreign policy, leadership, etc as well as Romney is covering up what he will really do....

Someone who can't maintain a consistent political position on anything from morning to afternoon is not the answer.

Obama's intrade chances tanked from a high of 80s to low 60s now. It might break below 60. That's crazy.

*sigh*

Well, I'm pretty much over this particular debate topic. LOL :p Looking forward to the next 3.

Let the world (and the Democrats) whine and cry over what happened or didn't happen last week. It hasn't affected my vote. What he does with the other 364 days of his time is what matters to me--and debating with Mitt Romney is not a daily task for the POTUS.

Next. :o

And three nights an incumbent running for reelection can't afford to blow off like he's already done 1 out of 3.

Repeating fiction doesn't turn it into reality.
