Superman Returns The 2nd Trailer !!!

From a guy at Blue tights. Same again as what I saw....

Hi guys,

Just got home, so here we go.

Well, my wish came true. Last night the new trailer was attached to the Davinci code. Before I go over the new shots (remember I only saw this once, so was trying to memorise key stuff). Know this, it blew the other trailers out of the water (yes, x3 trailer was playing too, plus the omen - which was laughed off). EVERYONE was deadly silent throughout the Supes trailer...the majesty gripped the audience.

Plus, there was a very positive reaction at the end - more of that later.

O.k. lets begin...

1/ Opening shot - supes flying towards the antarctic (?) (could'nt spot the FOS), but the music that opens the trailer gave me chills. And it will to you too...Its from the original soundtrack, but I can't remember exactly. Perfection though, setting the tone perfectly.

2/ New shot in the daily planet of Clark and Lois. He goes to hug her on the left side, she goes to the right. They change, and vice versa - its a bumbling Clark moment. Pretty neat.

3/ MY FAVOURITE SHOT
An extended shot of Superman flying above and over the earth, towards the sun - as seen in the last trailer (trailer one). Any one who doubted this was'nt a Chris Reeve homage - WRONG!! He flys towards the camera, then stretches his arm. Then bends into the shot from trailer one. The pivot and movement of just his arm is absolutely perfect. Such a stunningly realistic flow to his movement, as it seems full CGI. Hats off computer boffins - Superman is graceful, you are spectacular technicians - hats off.

4/ Clark at the farm - shot of Clark leaning on the fence with the barn in the background. He is pondering something - great camera shot - moving slowly and panning across the incredible vista behind him - great colours too.
Then, we get a close up of his face. I'll describe him as 'beautiful eyed alien' - Brandon looks stunning. He just has a very surreal (and hypnotic) look. His contacts are ice blue. Just f***ing super o.k. - he encapsulates so many elements each time I see him. Hats off Brandon, I'm so impressed mate.

5/ Extended WRONG!! scene from Lex. Replays the same as trailer one, but the camera holds on him after the WRONG. He looks psychotic..truly guys..this guy is a badass, and should'nt be taken lightly.
Also, I think there may have been more dialogue on the boat, but it was small, and I truly cannot remember. Apologies.

6/ More antarctic shots. Plus few more snippets of Lex in FOS (Note: the superman theme 'BA BA BA BABA....BA BA BA BA BA BABA...' YOU KNOW THE ONE , is playing now, edited perfectly into quick cuts). You won't notice the track playing though (I did'nt) - well, obviously I did but I was SOOO wrapped up in the imagery. Basically the track is used as in trailer one - as background music only, not at the forefront. I think its Ottmans though. Just subtle differences on the ear - it may be me, but I think its his. Plus, the last quarter of the trailer is epic in the sound department - the music grabs your nuts and says - we truly have a huge icon who deserves top billing - sit there, and behold THE man!!

7/ Back to the footage - more daily planet rooftop footage. New head shots of Brandon - once again, this guy is it. He's the s**t - really, he is breathing this character. New shot looking down from the top of the globe, onto the head and shoulders of lois and superman. Next shot, and a must for fans, the first lift off from Brandon. He points his arms up, lifts his head up, then starts to lift off - then the shot cuts to the teaser footage of superman flying upward and lois watching him. Then another new shot of the globe,with supes heading off into the distance. Interspersed during these new shots, are some shots from trailer one, lois's feet on supes boots, plus new shots of them walking around - just tiny little bits. Stunning though - perfection in the cinematography department - this is just so noir and deep in tone and texture.

8/ Some sort of huge kryptonite rock (looks like a kryptonite drill bit!!), with spiky shards, appears to be travelling at great speed through the sea (?)

9/ Close up of Lex and supes 'the kryptonite stabbing' - Lex has him in a sort of head lock (he has hold of him anyway). Lex whispers into his ear (with vengeance), NOW FLY!! Its truly viscious - you will dig this guys, really, its brutal.

10/ Improved shot from the teaser of supes flying to earth. The sound barrier BOOM looks improved in detail. It seems more of a close up too, as its easier to pick up supermans flight path after the sound barrier break. More distinguishable than the teaser, definately.

11/ Remember the shot of Superman landing near the end of trailer one? The one that people were debating over (ie. the impact, cgi/non cgi) - that makes the same return. Although over quickly, I did notice more expression in the face, and the suit has slightly more detail in it - closer inspection once the trailer is released will confirm. For my split second viewing, it looked better.

12/ Shot of the s's logo - same as the teaser trailer, but with 2 neat twists. It is the same logo for a split second, on black background. Then, there is a small wooshing noise, and a white light eminates from the back of the logo, right to left. As if someone has a huge mag light, shining from the back, right to left. Neat touch.

13/ THE MONEY SHOT
This had the audience whooping and heartily laughing, but for all the right reasons. This is also the closing scene of the trailer.
Superman walks up to the bad guy (same as trailer one with machine gun). I think supes stops, then the guy pulls out a handgun, near point blank range. He pulls the trigger, and we slo mo. Picture it - on the left we have the man, on the right supes. As the trigger pulls - slo mo. The camera pans as the slo- mo muzzle flash releases a bullet. We slowly move towards supes face as the bullet strikes his eye (he does'nt flinch or blink - absolute badass!!), we see in very minute detail, the bullet compressing. Then it drops from his eye. We then have a shot underneath the two men, looking up at them, as the bullet drops towrds the camera. Supes looks up, like the tv spot (although I think I'm correct in saying you can see more of superman's body) - he does the look/smirk.

Finally, black screen with superman returns, and the release date (I think).


Conclusion:-

I absolutely loved this trailer. Still no extra dialogue from the main man, but I'm not worried. His pores are oozing all aspects of this much loved hero, and he will mesmorise the new generation, and the old - I have full confidence.
To finish, I would like to simply say:-


June 30th or July 14th - are you ready guys?
...because we have a classic in the pipeline.

Yeah I wonder when it will appear online?...Same with the other one that is to be released with X3?..

And I don't mean on the same day, I'm just wonder which days each will be released on. ;):up:
 
ok ok ok.... you brits better show us americans this trailer.... youve been riding are coat tails for the past 2 years on all superman information one of you guys have to step up to the plate and show us this trailer and SOON!!!
