This movie had the best Hand to Hand fight scenes since the Blade films. It's not even a contest, IMO.

My favorite Action scene has to be the Nick Fury chase. That scene has me wanting a Nick Fury solo film ASAP. I screamed in excitement when Fury finally got his car machine gun device working.

To be honest, this film just reminds me of how underwhelming hand to hand sequences are in Batman films.

You ain't lying. I loved Blade 1 and 2. Awesome movies with great action, even if the CG doesn't hold up well at all in some parts. Great characters and villains too.

Cap 2 definitely blows most movies out of the water in terms of action. I love his first battle with Winter Soldier the most, but all the action segments were really well done. If anything, the final battle is the most disappointing to me for a few reasons, the foremost being him choking out Bucky and the fact that I didn't completely buy Bucky having a change of heart so quickly. I just think they could've expanded that scene a little and had Bucky remembering little flashes of his friendship with Steve.

And about Batman...the fighting in those movies doesn't hold a candle to this. Very disappointing really. At least we've got the Arkham games though :P Can't wait for Arkham Knight.

The Winter Soldier has set the bar for action in comic book flicks for me. There wasn't a wasted sequence -- every scene was either fantastic or good. Besides the incredible variety of choreography to showcase Cap's fighting ability, there was plenty of story and purpose behind the action, lending true suspense and thrills unique to that set piece.

Cap and crew going all Zero Dark Thirty in the opening piece, Fury finally busting out his badassery (while showing off some Bond-esque gadgetry), in a taut car chase which also gave the Winter Soldier a badass introduction, Cap crashing through concrete and cement to catch Fury's shooter from his apartment, the creative use of the shield to disable the aircraft, the intense Bourne-style fight between Cap and WS, Falcon's flight battles.

The list really does go on.

Couldn't agree more. yet there are people here that claims the action set pieces are generic and bland.

Generic implying that it's devoid of any creativity and has been used many times before. You can say that the action scenes are not your cup of tea, but one thing it aint is generic and bland.

Makes me wonder if these people watched the same movie as me

Yeah, not having that too. The action needed to be top-notch well for the characterization, the screen presence of the Winter Soldier. He didn't have many lines so the set pieces had to convey his physical menace, his veritable threat to the heroes.

The WS and Cap fight scenes reminded me of the Bourne movies with its visceral and hard-hitting quality. The minimal CGI and old-school stuntwork heightened that.

I did like the action sequences the hand to hand fight scenes were great.

is Bane attacking him with underarm stink?

The winter soldier may have minimal lines but he has SO much screen presence that it doessn't really matter.

And you're also right about how the Russo's contructed the action scenes. The combo of practical effects and good old fashioned stunt work only served to enhance the action scenes, in a way that CGI effects just wouldn't be able to do...no matter how good.

Cap vs. Winter Soldier is emotional, but the CGI extravaganza is just Iron Man repainted as the Falcon. :b + Explosions!

Dang is the final battle not anything special?

It's good, but for different reasons than the previous action in the movie.

Most of the fighting sequences and stunts are really impressive and well-choreographed throughout the film, but they're usually just a continuous action segment.

The final battle is divided between all the characters and what they're dealing with, which is actually done well and is really cool. The actual final fight between Cap and WS is just not that amazing to me. I feel it could've been way stronger. They should've lengthened it a bit, made a few small changes, and had a little more dialogue between them. I didn't feel like that specific part accomplished what it needed to. Some people cite it being a very "emotional" battle but I just didn't feel that.

Great movie overall though.

Some of the best hand to hand choreography outside of Asia, most definitely.

The scene with Fury's 4x4 was brilliantly tense and creative.

But my favourite is the causeway chase. Winter Soldier is like a Terminator in that scene.

Yea i agree . He had a relentless vibe where he just kept bringing choas. His overall look was great aswell, Sebastian Stan (W.S) said he was allways practicing his movements and fight scenes, know doubt it shows. Evans also stepped up aswell his fight scenes were great . He also put in overtime for his role.

Generally the fight choreography in this movies felt it was ripped straight out of a comic book. They knew the imagery they wanted to portray to the audience some of it imo looked like those Anime fights (in general) Very impressed with the Fight coordinators in this film. It stripped that CA is no typical boy scout. His moves were straight up brutal.

There's loads of standalone money shots that i love in this film but for me the bit where he takes the mini helicopter down with his shield jumps off with the shield planted into the floor with CA in a knelling position. That type of imagery :wow:

I would say this film has the best "street level" action scenes in superhero movie history, putting to shame the likes of Nolan/Burton's Batman films. But in terms of super powered action, which is a whole different ball game altogether, Man of Steel reigns supreme. But both are watersheds of their kind.

I definitely agree with those saying this features the best fight choreography of any CBM to date, Cap vs Batroc and Cap vs The Winter Soldier are both so well shot and put together.

Cap vs Batroc

The first time (for me) that Captain American fighting style feels like CA.
Without going off on a tangent, how many Batman movies have we had? 6? And not once have I felt Batman's fighting style feeling like Batman.

That's the scene that I've voted for; best example for me of MCU Cap's evolution in terms of fighting style. Hell, it even hints at Steve's photographic memory, in that once Batroc puts him down with a few flashy moves he seems to replicate those moves somewhat.

Cap's fighting style in CFA is basicbecause it was a simpler time and he wouldnt have been taught that many styles. But in modern day, in the Avengers, we simply didnt see him do anything close to what he did in the Batroc fight scene.

Just watched this .. Hate to repeat everyone, but this truly does have to best fight scenes in any comic movie or perhaps ANY movie ever.. Loved how spread out it all as well.. Was there 2 credit scenes? I think I missed 1:\

Also maybe I'm being an ass but anyone notice quicksilver has brown hair ? Lol

The street fight between Cap and WS wins hands down for me too, some of the best hand to hand combat since the Bourne trilogy for me and a proper showdown between the two leads as opposed to some predictable, plody sequences in some other Marvel films which have all the hype but no payoff.

I didn't see the movie yet for personal reasons, but all this talk about the fight scenes really makes me want to see it as soon as possible!

The build up to this memorable fight adds up, and makes it stand above the others which are great too in their own merit.

As a fellow Batfan, I share the exact same sentiment man.

K, let's do this - ranking the action scenes from worst to first -

6. The final big finale - While I loved seeing the Falcon, and found the emotional stuff between Cap and Bucky quite effective, there was a bit of...I dunno quite how to put it...but perhaps fatigue at play for me. After Iron Man 3's big finale, not to mention the Avengers, I would have been fine with this movie ending on a slightly smaller scale. But, the fact that this scene is last speaks more for how amazing the other scenes were than some great failure of the finale.

5. Nick Fury's car scene - I'm very glad Sam Jackson got a scene to himself. And the chase itself was great. But I guess I could have used a little more crazy Steranko tech. Bullet proof glass and a mini-gun are not exactly mind-blowing. And yes, I know the flying car aspect was out the window and they acknowledged that, but this could have been a little more super-spy I guess.

4. Cap Chasing Bucky the first time - I know it was short but just seeing Cap crash through that building and ending with the W.S. catching the shield was pretty damn awesome.

From here on we're in the A- to A+ range

3. The Elevator fight - I couldn't believe how clear the scene was. It would have been so easy to do this in a Bourne style. So many cuts, shots of elbows, etc. that you aren't exactly sure how each guy is going down...just that they are and then the shot of Cap as the last man standing. Instead, in a confined space with what...10 combatants?...I thought it was fast-paced and kinetic without sacrificing clarity. And again, what a great last note of Cap kicking up his shield.

2. The Boat - The way it's handled reminded me strongly of something I felt during Spider-Man 2. You know when you watched the fight on the clock-tower vs. Doc Ock and all of a sudden all those fights you'd read in the comics suddenly, in a revelatory way, came to life?

At least for me, during that tower-to-train fight, I had a kind of an Eureka moment. The way Spidey moved, the fluidity, the agility, all the things I was meant to get out of a Mark Bagley drawn Spidey fight came to life.

This is what this opening sequence does for Cap. I actually cannot think of another comic book movie that has achieved this actually. Of course I love Wolverine in X2, and Iron Man killing the terrorists, that final scene of Avengers was joyous, but they didn't somehow bring all the action I'd ever read in the books into some kind of new clarity. In this scene in Cap 2 you get a sense of the extra speed, strength and efficiency of Cap. And the fight with Batroc...I was just so happy to see a one on one fight scene, outside of The Raid series, that I could actually follow.

and finally

1. The W.S. attack on Cap and Co. - Well this was just an all timer. I noticed, for instance, that for the very first time in a very very very long time...I was actually worried about our main characters. The way the actors played it, the relentlessness, the impact each blow had. It was sort of stunning to feel that way after all the dumb action scenes I've witnessed in my life. Everyone gets a moment, even pre-wings Falcon, and this was my favorite fight between Cap and the W.S. And loved that they let Black Widow hold off the W.S. on her own for awhile. Great great stuff.

My list
Cap vs WS/ freeway chase
Cap vs Batrock
Nick fury chase scene
Finale
