The Best Movie Action Sequences Thread

Sword fight........Tie between The Adventures of Robin Hood Errol Flynn / Basil Rathbone and The Mark of Zorro Tyrone Power / Basil Rathbone.

Good taste

I always preferred TPvsRB in The Mark of Zorro because:

a) Tyrone Power was a hell of a fencer, much better than Errol, and this was acknowledged by Basil Rathbone himself...

From Wiki: Rathbone was known already in hollywood as an outstanding Classical fencer, but moviegoers were treated to the surprise of Power being excellent in his own right. The fight duel is extremely ornate and full of finesse, as opposed to Rathbone's more famous duel with Errol Flynn in Robin Hood, and the duel in The Mark of Zorro is considered by many movie buffs to be the finest swordfight in cinema. Rathbone suffered two scratches on his forehead during its filming, and later said of Power, "He could fence Errol Flynn into a cocked hat."

and b) It always bothered me than Errol and Basil where fencing with goddamned broadswords.

Camp shootout and explosions in Predator

John Rambo escaping prison single handedly with the use of his fists in Rambo: First Blood

Two scenes in Heat that I love:
1. The armored car robbery.
2. The bank robbery and firing in the streets.

Underrated shootouts:

Ending of Open Range
Ending of Way of the Gun

Also Greatest Fight scene ever: They Live, NO CONTEST!

Great Fight scene: Oldboy

LOTR: The Two Towers - Helms Deep.

LOTR: The Return of the King - Gondor.

Terminator 4 - John Connor and Marcus Wright fighting the T-800.

Terminator 2 - Factory sequence.

Spider-Man 3 - Construction Site Battle Royale.

Return of the Jedi - Luke -v- Darth Vader.

Death Proof - The something like 18 minute car chase.

Rocky (I-IV) - Every single epic fight.

Mission City sequence in TF. Awesome.

The finale in TF2 felt very very long.

My favorite driving action sequence is probably all of the car chases in Ronin.

Only ONE video..? In the whole thread..?

^ I hated that one. Imagine a closed box with balls inside of it. Now move it around. The club is like the closed box and the people is like the balls, going from one side to the other -- for 10 minutes.

I thought it was one of the best Ive seen. Very elegant.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, the desert chase.

Loved The Club scene in Collateral. It's brutal and in your face.

The warehouse/doom town scene and Anrie's diner followed by the mototcycle chase and the Igaugu (sp) graveyard action scenes in KOTCS.

Say what you want but Indy popping up to blow the poisonous dart in the dude's mouth was classic Indy. That was surprising as it was awesome.

Mission City sequence in TF. Awesome.

The finale in TF2 felt very very long.
I kinda prefer the TF2 finale, mostly because the battle plan makes more sense than the Mission City battle.

I watched The International with Clive Owen last night. That movie had a bloody and brutal 5 minute shootout which I really liked. Definitely one of the best action scenes I've seen this year.

The Phantom Menace - Darth Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi

Highly recommend you find the clip where all of the Jar Jar Binks scenes are removed from this fight. It's really irritating to see Ray Park do his cool moves and then it cuts to Jar Jar Binks tripping over a droid and accidently blowing up a few tanks.:cmad:

Of course, the edited movie with all of the Jar Jar scenes removed and the anakin kid muted really makes a much more somber (and what we expected) movie.

There are simply too many to mention for me, so many awesome action scene's from movies from the last 3 decades, it would take me 2 hours to list them all, so I will just stay on movies released this year:

1) Optimus Prime vs Megatron, Starscream and Grindor

2) Bumblebee vs Rampage and Ravage

3) John Connor and Marcus Wright vs T-800

4)Final battle in Star Trek

5) Optimus Prime with Jetfire parts vs Megatron and The Fallen.

Alright, fine, in no particular order I present my top five:

5.) Last Samurai Street Fight

[YT]zjU1XA3PHn4[/YT]

The Clincher: The moment where he relives the fight and realizes his mistake..

4.) Ronin Car Chase

[YT]CVaNBrYLvFg[/YT]

The Clincher: There a few big car chases, but this is my favorite because of the claushtrohobia inducing tunnel chase.

3.) Equilibrium Final Fight

[YT]TbP2djP0h5g[/YT]

The Clincher: Gun-kata. Sounds so utterly stupid now, but nothing was more badass at the time.

2.) The Legend of the Drunken Master: Crazy Legs

[YT]nrArCf2hSoY[/YT]

The Clincher: 90% of Kung Fu movies have this one guy that I like to refer to as "Crazy Legs." He's the one guy in the movie that usually has long legs and tends to do some whacky crazy **** with them. The one in this movie is by far my favorite mostly because of the scene where his leg is straight in the air while he casually removes his glasses. Also Jackie Chan does some drunken boxing which I guess is cool.

1.) Old Boy Hallway Fight

[YT]Ufss5ot_vGE[/YT]

The Clincher: If you've never ever seen Oldboy...don't bother. It's a great movie, to be sure, but the ending is so ****ed up you'll hate yourself for not listening to me. However, do watch this scene where Daesu fights his way down a crowded hallway. "Can the imaginary training of fifteen years be put to use?....Yes it can."

The Tea House, Warehouse and Hospital shootouts in Hard Boiled were one of the best action sequences, IMO.

Highly recommend you find the clip where all of the Jar Jar Binks scenes are removed from this fight.

Enjoy :cwink:

The war action sequences in LOTR: The Two Towers and LOTR: The Return of the King were epic. :awesome:

The shootouts and Van Damme fighting the muggers in Hard Target was great.

The Wild Bunch's final shootout.
Metro shootout in Total Recall.
All of Terminator 2 and Die Hard.
Church shootout in The Killer.
