****, I couldn't watch that whole thing. It was just goddamn good, I didn't want the rest to be spoiled for me.

Oh, man I'm seeing this now.

I was already gonna see this. But I'll pretend I didn't just so I can say "damn I'm sold. Damn. I'm definitely seeing this now".

I'm a big Tintin fan but must say now I'm a little bit dissapointed. WETA did a great job but story is so so. They're changing locations basically every few seconds but there's no life in it. Sometimes less is more.

Jackson Still Set To Direct Tintin Sequel After The Hobbit; Script For Prisoners Of The Sun Is Already Done

In the latest print edition of The Hollywood Reporter, the trade caught up with the directors to talk about the film, they asked Jackson directly if he’ll helm the sequel once he’s done with “The Hobbit” to which he simply replied, “Yes.”

Spielberg elaborated that while they don’t have the greenlight yet for a followup, the studios have allowed them to develop it to the point where it’s good to go. “[Sony and Paramount] were willing to do one movie with us and then give us the financial werewithal to develop a script, do all the visual storyboards and get it really in launch position. So we can launch pretty quickly on a second movie. The script is already written,” explained Spielberg.

So I guess the rumor that the sequel is based on The Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun is true, after all. Anyway, I hope that Tintin will be successful enough to warrant a sequel, as I would love to see more adventures with Tintin, Haddock and Milou on the big screen.

This is the wrong board for this thread. It should be in the comics' forum

Technically it should be at the misc. comics films board but if it was there it wouldn't get much views so it's fine. It's not a big deal.

I wonder what kind of style the sequel will have. With Peter Jackson directing it, the film could have a slightly different feel. And that's not just because it's another story.

BTW, how long will it take for PJ to finish his work on Bilbo? I have read that it will be a few years before a Tintin sequel comes out.

"A few years" has a special ring to it. Perhaps they are going to recast some of the characters. If so, it won't bother me that much.

Andy Serkis can stay if he wants. Jamie Bell too. Both of them are great actors.
Perhaps we will get a new Tintin, as they want to keep the youth appearance of the hero. Bell will be 30 in a few years. "A few years", there we have it again.

The beauty of mo-cap, is that they wouldn't have to recast at all. Bell could play the character for as long as physically able to.

A great deal of tickets were sold-out, but I manage to snagged a few for Monday. I'm so excited.

And it has officially been rated PG for adventure action violence, some drunkenness and brief smoking

Peter Jackson will be occupied with The Hobbit until December 2013.

So don't expect Tintin 2 until at least 2015.

2015... I have no problem if they go with Thomas Sangster as Tintin.

GunRanger:
If and only IF, Jamie Bell won't return to the role - then they have to find another actor.
There could be several reasons for that. He may not want to wait until 2015 for the sequel. Or he could be busy with other projects by then. As it is now, we don't know when they will start shooting the second film. Perhaps later than 2015. And Jamie Bell is a popular actor. I believe many directors want him for their films.

Thomas Sangster had the role for a short time. I remember him being excited about playing Tintin. But he had to leave because of scheduling conflicts.

Won't he be first in line to take over (if he's still interested)? I think so!
Or do you prefer somebody else?

I saw it yesterday. It's good, not great though. It especially feels very rushed and it lacks time to settle down things. It makes the ending quite abrupt and on a whole it feels like one long prolouge. But it left me wanting more which is obviously a good thing, the sequel can prove to be the real treat.

Otherwise I was very impressed with some of the animation and the direction. The Three Stooges esque slapstick humor works great too, lots of laughs from me. The action-sequence with the motorcycle was my favorite scene. Thrilling and fun! Loved the Unicorn scenes too, swordfights looked great!

Now as for the adapation and amalgam of the three albums I feel like they did a good job on most part. But as a fan of course you miss certain scenes from all the three books. I feel like they should have adapted Crab only to be honest. Saving the Unicorn story for when the Tintin and Haddock dynamic and friendship had been really set.

It gets a 6/10 from me.

While it doesn't open domestically until Christmas weekend, The Adventures of Tintin was already off to a very strong international start this weekend. The motion capture film directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Spielberg and Peter Jackson grossed $55.8 million from 19 foreign markets. Key grosses included a massive $21.5 million in France, $10.7 million in the United Kingdom and $4.6 million in Germany. The Adventures of Tintin is being handled by Sony in most foreign markets, while Paramount is handling the film domestically and in some foreign markets (including the United Kingdom).

Just got home from watching it.
Wonderful film! Spielberg really outdid himself this time I must say!

Almost two hours, 1h47min I think.
Perfect runtime, they get so much stuff in the story but it never feels overcrowded or rushed.

Are there any nods to certain stuff from the books? Aside from actual scenes.
