The Adventures of Tintin

i hope that they keep those waterpaint look of the books.

With the casting of Craig as Red Rackham my guess is they'll probably expand the character a bit. He has a very small role in The Secret of the Unicorn.

And something that just came to mind is that Andy Serkis will probably be playing a double role as both Haddock and his ancestor. Which is quite cool.

I have a feeling that Toby Jones will be Professor Calculus, but he could also be the pickpocket, if that character is still in...

Just some random fan art for an updated version.

Okay...

Well, I'm now excited for these films, even though I remember nothing about Tintin.

I don't mind if they update it to a certain degree, but try to stay truthful to the original art as well. So no 'American-Anime' eyes, etc.

For those who are interested in what character Craig is going to play, here are some scans, Red Rackham is the guy on the left (obviously), the guy on the right is Captain Haddock's ancestor Sir Francis Haddock.

I wasn't too excited by this project but now that Daniel's onboard I'm pumped....

this man just keeps getting better and better !;)

That looks really good
If they were to do an animated series again...this should be the new look!!!

Im hoping the animation is NOT like Beowulf (were they look like the actors for the most part)...I'd prefer unique animation that mimics the comics yet it is still very realistic looking...(Kind of like those creepy/cool Mario and Homer Simpson CG animations)

I like it too when the animation is somewhat stylized to a degree that you know that it's not real. If they made it realistic, like Beowulf, it looks awkward because if something is off (hair, eyes) by a little bit, then it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Just a possible sample of how they might do a mo-cap version of Mario and Homer. :o I don't even wanna see Tintin if this is the result.

Yeah, this is what I was talking about.
I KNOW it looks creepy at first (particularily the Homer one) but I would actually be interested in seeing them approach something similar to this. It would be weird but its still cool and something never seen before yet on film.

i think they may go the Monster House route, where they were animated pretty detailed, yet they still looked like cartoon characters.

i could see this being Indiana Jones esq, with a touch of Lupin III.

Good example; to the point where the features are somewhat eggerated, but you can still have eyelashes and other small details.

I read some interesting tidbits in this article:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ic323ae8a6486e91c9a16b8328f80ddbc

"Unicorn" featured two gun-toting siblings known as the Bird Brothers and a butler named Nestor. But new characters have been created for Spielberg's film to flesh out Tintin's world; they include a rival reporter, a bellowing editor and an American Interpol inspector.

I thought they were going to do that, I like it.

Elmaleh is playing Ben Salaad and Jones is playing a character named Silk.

Interesting, because Ben Salaad is a character from the story The Crab with the Golden Claws, which means they're mixing adventures, which I thought they'd do and makes sense. They did that with the story of the first Asterix film as well. Silk is a quite small role, but a quite important character from The Secret of the Unicorn.

The "Tintin" film project has been in the works for decades. Spielberg first optioned the material in 1983, and he and Jackson spent much of 2008 running animation tests and developing the script, which Paramount and Universal originally were going to co-produce.

Just thought this was interesting.

Williams' Indy 4 score was a major disappointment, probably his worst score ever. The themes from Raiders and Last Crusade were the only good things. Lets hope he redeems himself.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

However I do think the TOD score is very overlooked. I actually think it's as good as Raiders. There are many great moments.

The TOD score is great as well but there were a couple from those two movies in the KotCS, while all the new themes were very forgettable.
