Discuss all you'd want to see in an Aquaman movie here. Cast, crew, director, villains, storyline etc. I'll be posting my full cast list, choice of director and villain very soon. :)

OK, I personally have always viewed Arthur as a bit older than the rest of the league. That is why I'm choosing an older actors and actresses for the respective roles. I also feel older more established actors would somehow bring more respectability to the role than seeeing some current "it" boy heartthrob in the role

Also, Aquaman has a stigma associated with him that he's "lame" so i don't see A list directors and actors signing up for this. With the right script though it can propel the stars to A list status.

Director: John Stockwell, he's a decent director, but what he has over many other film makers for this particular job, is his beautiful underwater cinematography as evidenced by Blue Crush and Into the Blue

Story: In my idea, Orin will have already been king for some time, and a father. It would start on his son Arthur's first birthday, and Orm having always resented his brother for being half human and having the love of Mera finding an ancient book of the wizard Atlaan's and a prophecy about a blond king who'll bring about the destruction of Atlantis, and doing what he can to destroy Orin and take his place on the throne which he feels is rightfully his. In the book he finds where to get ancient mystical Atlantean armor and that's where his suit comes from. he'd have some help from Atlanteans he's recruited to his cause, and the young Arthur would go missing. His son being missing would cause conflict between Mera and Orin, and while his son is missing we'd see him go from clean cut happy King, to his beard starting to grow, hair getting longer etc. He'd look more and more barbarian like the longer his son was missing. Eventually, he'd find out what happened and a MASSIVE underwater battle would break between the two factions of Atlantis, those on Orm's side and Orin's followers. the battle would culminate in an epic showdown between Orm and Orin. The battle would be intense, with Orm's mystical armor and trident, and Orin commanding creatures of the sea, some of which we've never even seen before. In the end, Orin would be victorious, but the battle would cost him his hand. in the end he'd get his son back, and we'd see him fitted with the hook hand.

I'd have the entire movie underwater. He'd surface in the second which would revolve around Black Manta. there'd also be some dialogue between Orm and Orin about him enjoying his time with the surface scum so we'd know he's already known above as Aquaman

sounds great and i agree going older actors, and making it an epic underwater film will be good. We need to get the general audience thinking differently on aquaman and he could be taken seriously and not a joke hero.

I think Viggo Mortensen has a lot of the qualities I see as ideal for Aquaman.
Directors I think that could work on the project are Kevin Reynolds and Gore Virbinski.

Kevin Reynolds? He did The Count of Monte Cristo in 02 right?

Viggo's an interesting choice.

If we're going with the beared King of the Seas Aquaman, I'd chose Michael Fassbender from 300.

If not, I think Simon Baker would be a good choice (He'd also make a great Green Arrow).

I think Baker would rule as GA. Dane seems like a solid choice for Aquaman, given that the studio would skew a bit younger regardless of what we think. In fact, I like all of Lobo's choices for the actors. I'd say put in Kevin Grevioux as Black Manta, working for Ocean Master as his hired muscle, too.

For the movie itself, I think it should have an emphasis on the fact that Aquaman is a king rather than just an average superhero. Forget the surface for the first film until the end, when it's revealed that Ocean Master was working with some land-lubber business tycoons to take over Atlantis so they could exploit its natural resources, which would set up some surface action for the next movie. The water hand should be included--maybe they could tell the story of how he gets it in the movie as the main plot. I don't think anyone would mind if they subbed Ocean Master or Black Manta in for Charybdis as the guy who costs Aquaman his hand, since Charybdis is kind of a nobody villain with only one cool thing to his name. Also, Aquaman's "talking to fish" power should be presented as the command of ocean life that it is in the comics--have him supplement the Atlantean armada with a giant fleet of killer whales, dolphins, sharks, etc. Don't have him sitting around conversing with fish about how exciting the 7 seconds of their lives they're aware of at any given time is. Present Orin as an action hero and a noble king instead of the punchline of every Superfriends joke.

Above all else, the Atlanteans must ride sharks or, at the very least, dolphins. No bloody seahorses! :cmad:

I've always liked the idea of Gerard Butler for Aquaman. For Orm, I think the dude Lobo picked is real good, but Sean Bean could play off with Gerard to make a good Ocean Master.

Personally, looking at Lobo's idea, I'd like to include Triton and Poseidon in that story, and have them be the real villains. They'd use Orm to weaken Atlantis' defenses and infrastructure, so that they can sweep it clean and rebuild. Think of it as they want to destroy the entire civilization for their lack of faith in the Greek Sea Gods.

You can have Orin defeat Triton at the end after he discovers Orm is but a puppet, or you can have Orin kill Triton, and fight Poseidon at the end and towards the end of the fight, Poseidon comes to reason and sees before him a true Sea King.

At the end of the film, you can have scientists in some sort of mini sub or using some sort of oceanic device to discover Atlantis, which would bring the existence of Atlantis to be known to the surface world (maybe for all these years, it was blanketed by a magical bubble and when Orin defeats Triton/Poseidon, Poseidon lifts the bubble. Sort of like a "you want to be the SEA King? have fun with that") for a second film. Then, you can toss in Black Manta to be the dominant villain of the second film, and have Ocean Master come back to show their rivalry.

Then for a third film, you can have Kordax resurface after all these thousands of years, and to expose more of the cool Aquavillains have Kordax summon Devilfish (an ancient warrior bred to protect Atlantis and decides to serve Kordax who he believes to be the true heir to the throne) from his slumber to really shake things up. The Incredible Hulk movie, while I'm not a HUGE Hulk fan, did something incredibly important: they put the hero up against one tough dude. With these metahuman superheroes, you gotta show that they can do some serious damage.

The entire movie underwater, you said. But, in a closed space? You know, underwater cities and all that.. or in the water, the whole time..?

A mixture of the two.

What if MARVEL uses your suggestions for a NAMOR movie..? Are you gonna sue them..? :hehe:

Well No, but i have ideas for a Namor movie too. :o

You like Namor ? That prick :hehe:

I like underwater adventures. And, obviously, there will be lot's of similarities between the two on film. Most people know Aquaman though and would view Namor as a rip off even though he came first.

I know. And I like Aquaman better. I remember the old cartoons--I rented VHS of it in the late 80s :o

I like Aquaman better too.

Oh, he has a hook for a hand at the end of the script I've yet to write. :o

Once we were getting along! :hehe:

He has to finish his movie series with his bad ass water hand.
