Action-Adventure The All Encompassing Zorro thread

I always loved Toth's artwork.

I'm interested in the new Prime TV series. My only concern is that it may be a bit too much soap-opery for my tastes.

Anyone has given it a watch already?

Bumping this thread since Caravan of Garbage reviewed the Banderas Zorro movies and I decided to check out the new series on Prime. I’ve only watched the first episode so far but I think it’s pretty decent. The show looks good and some of the fights are cool. The guy playing Zorro, who I’m just going to refer to as Spanish Henry Cavill, is good in the swashbuckling scenes but he seems a bit stiff in the more dramatic and romantic stuff. But I’ll definitely be watching more. I like that they made Zorro a mantle that’s passed on from the indigenous people.

Antonio Banderas as Don De La Vega

Then you have whoever take the mantle becoming the new Banderas basically becoming the new Zorro

Did Disney scrap that Wilmer Valderaama Zorro series? I sure as hell hope so because that guy is a turd and a mediocre actor.

I watched reruns of the 1950s "Zorro" TV show, when I was a kid, and to be honest it wasn't half bad. I also like the early 1990s version, on what was then called The Family Channel.

As for movies, the two I've seen are the ones starring Antonio Banderas. "The Mask of Zorro" is a classic, superb in every way. Hopkins, Zeta-Jones, Stuart Wilson, Matt Letscher...all of them were great. I still love it, and watch it on a fairly regular basis.

As for "The Legend of Zorro", I think it was horrible. It fell into the same trap as "The Mummy Returns", giving the main heroes a kid that's so smart he makes them look like idiots. And then, for some unknown reason, its suddenly the kid's responsibility to save the day. No...just no. I hate that kind of thing.

I definitely want a Mask of Zorro remake but with Don Diego and the new Alejandro but Banderas can easily play Hopkins' character and get an actor to play Banderas' role

What do you guys know about this?

I recently got The Mask of Zorro in 4K (along with another 90s classic The Fifth Element also in 4K) last week I need to rewatch this classic film in the near future I bet it looks and sounds great in 4K!
