Hate to burst your bubble, but dancing to jazz music and saying things like "keep it open there, pops" and "thanks hot legs" is a lot less emo than wearing your hoodie in class and being all hunched over while writing or drawing, walking through the streets all angsty, and his clothes style is slightly what you would call more "emo" than an Italian suit or some popped collar. He may have had emo-ish hair in 3 but that was it. At least it wasn't extreme and colored funky or over half of his face.

I'm not saying new Peter is emo, but he does come off as a punk.

Hrm....maybe I wrote something down in invisible ink, but....all I said was 'THAT'S emo'....nowhere did I say he acted emo. He acted very 40s or so with his language, but his look was very emo. So, once again, you misread what I type. And...yes, it was mostly half his forehead and down on one eye...that's freaking emo enough. Pete ****ing Wentz right there

ALTHOUGH....S-M 3's look IS emo, and reboot's look is more PUNK; those are very two different things. In no way is the Clash considered emo, or Ramones considered emo. But I do understand how Webb wants to use that "punk-rock" look into him being an outcast as way before the emo stage, outcasts were "punks".

What I don't get is why did he even had that emo haircut to begin with since he clearly wasn't acting emo, just silly. They were trying too hard to show us his behaviour changes by changing his look. Imo he should've been more agressive and looking normal. No need for black makeup and emo hair and who knows what! But he wasn't even acting agressive, he was simply acting like a silly punk.

Fans of Spider-Man 3 will simply tell you that Raimi wanted the symbiote to make Peter cocky and egotistical without making him any more aggressive, which is DUMB.

TSSM did it perfectly, imo.

I would have rearranged the scenes in Spider-Man 3 when Peter is under the influence of the symbiote.

Have the stupid, goofy stuff (strutting in the streets, etc) when he FIRST gets the symbiote... then have the serious, darker stuff like throwing a bomb in Harry's face AFTER that. Not mixed up like the way it is in the movie. That way the effect on Peter over time/prolonged use of the symbiote would be clearer and better.

But whatever. xD

I'm not a huge fan of Raimi movies in general, but I honestly didn't think SM3 was that bad. It's not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. When you watch a truly bad comic book movie, you realize that SM3 is nowhere near one of the worst.

However, I agree. TSSM, and the 90's Spidey toon both did a better job of handling the darkness of the symbiote and it's effect on Peter.

I'm a hater simply because I'm not liking what I'm seeing? I have valid points. Yeah, some of it's the little stuff but it all adds up after awhile. You may see people who don't like this so far as "haters" or "whiny fanboys" but I can turn around and say you guys are just blinded by excitement, or afraid to admit you don't like what you see and try to rationalize it in some really ridiculous ways.

See? Not nice is it. You may think it's a "close adaptation" but as of right now, I do not. Was Raimi's perfect? No. But for some reason I was really excited for those movies because they got a lot right in my opinion. A few years ago a lot of people here said the same thing, and now a lot of people turned and just changed their minds.
You may or may not know I was really into Spider-Man before Raimi's movies. With 2 and 3 I had great concerns but for the most part they all were laid to rest. However, none of them were as extreme as they are with ASM. I just cannot get into this interpretation. Say what you want, but this does not give me the giddy Spider-Man vibe. You can say "well you're a Raimi fanboy so no matter what you won't like it" but the truth is, I liked Hulk (minus some dumb ideas in it) and really wanted a Hulk 2. I was against an idea of a reboot but only for a short time. They really turned me around on that quickly. This? No. I've tried. But most of it looks bad. I've stated what I thought looks good, and it's not much. The things some of you say around here amaze me, just like I'm sure some of you may feel I'm "too extreme."

I don't mind people who are criticizing this reboot legitimately, but the people who are claiming to be Spider-Man "fans" when they're really Raimi fanboys who are hating the reboot blindly... well, I hope those people step on a piece of lego. Because they're annoying. They're on this board, YouTube and on Facebook. You know the type of people I'm talking about.

I find this funny. This is probably a factor as to why Peter gets picked on in the movie. Because some people, (no offsense), hate him or think differently of him. Moci-con footage confirms though he's kind of a dork. He's a modern one, actually. Works, because Peter wasn't really supposed to be a nerd, just an outcast. Relatable. What were outcasts of 1960's? Nerds. Today, a little different.

Well Troy I really only see that **** on Youtube. I agree with it, but it's immature and vague. They need to explain themselves why.

I was 100% okay with Garfield. I liked him in The Social Network and that movie "Never Let Me Go" was pretty good as well. However, I'm not sure if I'm okay with him now. The way he looks and comes off, the scene in the car, etc. just throw me off. Maybe it's the dialogue or maybe it's the way he gives it off. I just don't like it. I'm still a bit mad about the lack of Spider-Man 4, and they really should have let Raimi done it his way and THEN rebooted it later, but this is what's happening. I've tried to get into this but I can't. I want this to be The Incredible Hulk for me but right now it looks like they're just stepping backwards. =\

Here's something I posted over in the trailer thread:

With all the comments about how this Spider-Man film shows Peter with mechanical webshooters, engages in witty banter and has Gwen Stacy as a love interest--thus implying this film will be more faithful to the comics than Sam Raimi's--there's something the trailer I think reveals should be a concern for die-hard Spider-Man fans.

Notice that the second trailer shows the scene with Peter having dinner with Gwen and her family just like the first trailer does? The dialogue shown in the first trailer that's repeated in the second trailer is as follows:

CAPTAIN STACY: So, tell us a little about yourself, Mr. Parker.
PETER PARKER: Not much to tell, really.
GWEN STACY: Peter lives with his aunt and uncle.

But notice how the dialogue in the second trailer presumably continues in the same scene:

GWEN'S LITTLE BROTHER: Did you catch that spider-guy yet?
CAPTAIN STACY: No, but we will...this guy wears a mask like an outlaw.
PETER PARKER: I think he's trying to do something that maybe the police can't.
CAPTAIN STACY: Can't?!

If what this trailer is presumably revealing, it's that Peter as Spider-Man is already a costumed vigilante before Uncle Ben gets killed. If that's the case, doesn't this essentially undermine Spider-Man's primary moral of "With great power comes greater responsibility?" After all, as every Spidey fan knows, Peter used his powers originally not to become a superhero but to become an entertainer, to use them for his own personal fame, fortune and glory, and in a moment of arrogance, allowed a criminal he could have easily stopped to escape who ended up killing his Uncle Ben. But if Peter is already using his powers to fight crime, to do what the police can't, and thus is already using his powers responsibly while his Uncle Ben is still alive, then it actually takes away one of the the most fundamental aspects of his own origin story and even his primary motivation for becoming a superhero in the first place.

Ever since I read the description, I thought it sounded awful. But Andrew really delivered it well. What sold the scene was his dramatic scared movements as he was cowering to the floor. Very amusing. It's an odd moment to cite, but you could really tell Andrew paid a lot of attention to the physical performance.
