The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Nitpick Thread

The pratical we swinging. I'm sorry but it just doesn't look cool to me

It looks pretty good to me, I have to see more of it in action before I decide if I like it more than the swing in the previous franchise or not.

That part of him swinging after it shows Lizard go through the car, looks God awful. It looks choppy and fake as hell. It looks like a real person on a green screen and horribly done at that. The shot starts out fine but once he goes to the street and back up it just looks like ass. If you think that looks good then, okay.
1. that shot was not practical
2. that shot was speed up when it goes down to the street
3. how can it look like greenscreen when the whole shot is CGI and all the lighting is done with the buildigns around spiderman?

- I'm not really that impressed with Emma Stone's "Gwen Stacy".

- I'm not a big fan of Spidey's new slimmer build.

I find Garfields build to be perfect for spidey. I've always seen spidey as a skinny (but toned) guy. It makes him look more agile and flexible.

To be fair, we haven't really got a good idea how Gwen will be portrayed in the film. I personally have no thoughts on her yet. Not seen enough.

So far for me, it's just that damn red stripe down the legs that's bothersome lol

Don't like the blue eye lenses surrounds, the leg stripe or the lack of belt. The rest of the costume I am all right with.

On the plus side, the colours look good. I also like the more realistic take on how the police would react.

Although at the end, I would like to see Spider-Man win the police over. After all he ain't Batman you know.

The only thing I can nitpick at is mechanical webshooters. Now don't all of you get your RAGE HATE switches turned on, I got no issues with mechanical webshooters. I just prefer organic ones, it's mainly a personal preference. I feel The Amazing Spider-Man is portraying them in an excellent manner though, I love how they look high tech, and sound mechanical.

I don't. I want spidey to remain a figure of hate and distrust. Maybe he can start to win some over, but I dont want him to be loved. I really liked that about spidey. We've had the love of spidey from the previous films.

That one specific spot does look a bit dodgey but the rest looks well done to me. And they still have plenty of time to fix stuff like that.

Andrew's Peter comes off a little bit like a dick.

That seems to be the case when he talks with Captain Stacy and doesn't like that Spider-Man is being treated like a criminal. Also, it's refreshing compared to a Peter who could barely speak up to JJJ in the Raimi Movies.

And he's supposed to be a dick when taunting criminals like in the car.

Exactly. It's the whole point. It's condescending, provokes a response and shows that he's not intimidated, even if he is.

It's also an attempt to throw them off and get them to make mistakes.

I have no major nit picks. Just a couple of special fx issues in one or two of the shots. Aside from that the trailer was incredible.

Sony held their cards close to their chest with this one for a long while. And look at he reaction we have today. Almost universally positive.

Everyone I've spoken to today (general public) think that Andrew Garfield kind of sucks. Most of our complains (the fanboys) is that his voice is a bit off, but everyone else don't like him at all. They think he's too skinny, has way too much hair (one person joked, "no wonder he can't keep the mask on"), comes across as annoying (the dinner scene for example) and, of course, his voice is terrible.

I hate to bring bad news, but to most people, Tobey Maguire is still their Spider-Man. It will be interesting if this movie under-performs at the box office and is blamed on Andrew Garfield's performance.

The costume is god awful, hopefully he'll have the classic one in the sequel and I don't like the Lizard at all. The movie looks good overall though.

Lol I showed 2 of my friends the trailer on my phone today in school and they loved it. They asked me if the costume was different (to Raimi's) because it looked darker.

They loved Spidey's sharp tongue. :D

My brother loved it.

And Andrew Garfield IS better than Tobey Maguire. As an actor, Garfield is much, much better, and so far in this trailer, I prefer his Spider-Man, especially the way he acted towards that car thief. Witty banter and borderline dick to the thief.

My problem with the lizard is this....

I can see using CGI if they went with a full blown lizard look but with the design they went with.... why not just use Hollywood makeup and prosthetics and just CGI the tail?

There is no reason this lizard had to be all cgi

This movie might fail, and if anything, more than the chances of it being a bad film is because the general public is too attached to the previous trilogy.

No, if anything, it'll have the same numbers, roughly, that First Class had. Weren't really impressive if I remembered, but they were just fine.
