The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Nitpick Thread

it would flash red when he is getting near being out. He can't look at the bars when he is fighting or swinging around.
The webshooters are going to get an explanation in the film. I like this idea. In any case I see the red light highlighting that these are a piece of technology, as opposed to the Raimiverse organics.

IMO, it gives his opponents something to focus on. And you do not want your enemies focusing on your only gadgets.

I wonder if that actually happens early in the movie and then he modifies the webshooters, so they show how much webbing is left.
That's a pretty plausible idea.

Connors is evil and I think he killed Pete's parents. That is what I get from the new trailer...which is a major nitpick.

If he was involved, which I think is a big leap in and of itself, my hope is he would have merely been a piece of a conspiracy that leads to Norman Osborn.

I honestly didn't think they could screw with the look anymore, then I saw red lights when he would shoot webs. Sorry, but that is straight up stupid. I mean seriously, why even do that? They must have just added it too. I haven't seen this in the game or in the teaser.
Did they think it would make a great toy?
.

Is that a serious statement? I mean, I get that some people don't like the minor changes to the design of the suit, and that's totally within your right. But to say you think they couldn't mess with it any more? I mean, it's impossible to look at him and not see that it's obviously spider-man, with a suit that is 98% faithful to his classic comics suit. And 100% faithful to his build and body type in a way previous live action attempts were not.

Peter looks not only handsome, but incredibly stylish and well-dressed. His wardrobe looks as or more expensive and well-matched than anything Flash Thompson or Harry Osborn would wear. It's clear that he won't be struggling to talk to girls in the movie, and that Gwen will know his secret pretty early on.

I wouldn't call what I've seen "dark" or "gritty." It's a bit too flashy and show-offy with the special effects for that description to fit. But dark and gritty? Compared to what? Serpico? Compared to the look and tone of the Raimi movies? Sure. It's dark and gritty for a toy movie.

And that's fine, because Spider-Man doesn't need to be grimdarkbatman. But selling this movie as "realistic" is a bit much. The sewers look very clean, like a little kid could run in and pose for a picture with Spider-Man. Which is cute. But not "gritty."

What is that huge body of water that Spider-Man and the Lizard are plunging into? Is that sewer water? Why is it so deep? Why is it so clean? Isn't it, like, a sewer?

Lizard looks bad.

No bugle, JJJ, photographer Peter. Having that camera always gave Spider-Man more reason and resources to quip with. Hopefully he picks it up in the next movie because I'll hate it if they gave Peter a different job like a programmer in the Ultimate comics.

Otherwise...... fantastic looking movie.

Agreed.

Just because you recognize it as Spider-Man doesn't make it good. Do you recognize the crappy Batman and Robin suits as Batman and Robin? Of course you do.
Doesn't mean it that it doesn't look ugly.
As for the build, I like skinny Spidey in the comics, but I don't like how it looks here. He comes off as wimpy and not at all heroic. Like, I look at Ultimate Spider-Man and even though he is small he has a heroic glow to him. Maybe it's the defined muscles?
I would be okay with changes to the suit but they went too far in the wrong direction in too many ways. Basketball-like texture (from a distance at least), no webs (just globe lines), colors just don't come off well to me, eyes don't look good, stupid shoes, too much blue on his hands, webshooters stick out too much, and another thing that bothers me about his build is that his head just looks weird in the mask. Like, from the side especially.

I can't take it seriously, it looks like a goofy spoof version.
I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I just did not like Garfield's voice, and his overall mannerism in the car when he attempted to be funny. The quipping has to be , ala previous incarnations... natural, and said with a level of enthusiasm and energy. Garfield's delivery was suspect. Even though Maguire did not have much to say in the previous series, when he did say something, it came off right. Garfield's wisecracking sounds like a bad actor auditioning for Broadway. Either way, there goes the dream for a fun Spidey.

Hey what if the red lights work like a laser pointer to help him with his aim when he starts out.

Probably not but anyway, I think its a nice touch, no need to go around hating everything. The lights don't make him any less Spiderman.

And to the guy that said the red light would give away his position. If he wanted to be a stealthy creature of the night he would not be wearing a red and blue suit.

Besides, I think if you see the red light, you're already too late, he already caught you.

Being around the Spidey boards, they'll start off with your name, lol.

Now that you pointed it out I must agree.

Even his delivery with "your doorman's intimidating" made me cringe slightly.

I'm just hoping it's only because it's a trailer, and that the timing of dialogue isn't what we'll see in the movie itself, so that it will feel much better a lot more natural in it.

There should be a few more quips so it's too early to dismiss Garfield's Spider-man humor this soon.

I liked his quipping. It felt very Josh Keaton.

If I had to nitpick it would be that the action did not seem to have that same punch that Raimi's did but I'll have to wait and see what it's like on the big screen. Hopefully there's not too many things flying at the camera which gets so boring.

I couldn't stand Tobey doing the few and far between quips. He always sounded disconnected from the scene. Garfield feels present and his delivery really works for me. My dream for a fun, witty Spidey is fulfilled.

No, if anything, it'll have the same numbers, roughly, that First Class had. Weren't really impressive if I remembered, but they were just fine.

A Spider-Man film will never bring in numbers anywhere near as low as First Class's, the lowest possible number in my opinion would be around 600 million.
