By the way, a very interesting read here:

Shows how bad Activision is, if that wasn't obvious enough already!

Even if none of the developers came forward and relayed this type of info, I mean, we already know just based on the games they put out. It's pretty easy to spot differences in quality from one company to another and you can see the difference in a game that has a higher standard of care. Time and money are the key items when constructing anything. That being said, it really sucks to find out they are taking away from the employees. Just another dent in Activision's already lackluster reputation.

So does Activision still have the game rights or not?

With this, I learned two things which may have already been obvious:

1.) Activision strives for mediocrity.

2.)There's a low chance of there ever being another truly great Spider-Man game that lives up to its potential as long as Activision has the rights.

So Marvel didn't receive licensing rights for the character outside of the films?

Marvel has picked up every Marvel right from Activision and Capcom, except the movie tie-ins licenses from Spider-Man, that belong to Sony (and rents to Activision).

It's not that hard.

Maybe we will be getting some non-movie-tied Spidey games, which is what we need.

To get a truly awesome AAA-title for Spidey, the first move is indeed to make a comic based game. A movie tie-in will never achieve that status.

I wouldn't say it can never achieve that. I just think it would be significantly harder.

The first move IMO is to get Spidey out of Activision's hands.

Yeah, but even if it's not in Activision's hands, movie-based games are still generally terrible.

Well, yeah, lol, I agree the first move is to get the rights away from Activision but my comment was under the assumption the rights had already been removed from them in that scenario. You're correct in saying a movie tie-in could potentially achieve that status, well, any game could really. The problem with movie tie-ins has always been time restrictions, licensing issues, and money. Those are all big pieces to the puzzle. Can it be done? Sure. But it's damn near impossible and I definitely don't think Activision would ever go through the trouble of working extra hard to make a quality product especially with those roadblocks in place.

It would be nice to have a comic-based game with GG as the main villain. Everyone keeps criticizing the Arkham games for using the Joker too much but I'd rather have the archenemy overused rather than underused. When was the last time we got GG as the main villain in a game?

True.

:up::up::up:

I think it would be nice to have comic based games, that adapt specific story arcs again. Like the old beat em ups did, with games like Maximum Carnage. Or short flashback missions, like we had in X-Men Legends. You could like swing by the bridge, activate a flashback Mission, and then have a short tussle with Goblin, and try to catch Gwen at the end.

Regarding the open world, I think a true AAA Spider-Man should feel like this:

Bonus points if we hear this in the background :awesome::

Yeah, the day a game is able to recreate that, let alone a Spidey one, will certainly be the day.

That should very well be possible with the PS4/XB1/PC versions of games. It all comes down to time restrictions.

Don't be so condescending. Considering nothing is really certain at this point, it can be pretty confusing.

So besides the Game Cube footage we saw, no other footage has been released?

The game comes out in about 3 months, shouldn't we have a full trailer by now?

We should but I also like movie tie ins spider-man 2 and 3 is the ones I like and I dont mind comic book ones it would be nice to happen or an original story with the elements there cause I dont want to play something i've read but I do want to see GG as a main villian

Its actually pretty ridiculus. They could release one image?

It is pretty ridiculous. That's all we have right now. One image and a teaser.

With the game coming out 3-4 months from now, this is not a good sign.
