I hate Beenox, and I absolutely refuse to get excited about this game. That said, I think this Kraven story idea is incredibly interesting and it sounds to me like the best plot concept of any of their games so far. I'm pretty sure they'll find a way to screw it up, but at least the story they're teasing is incredibly promising.

Beenox is doing her best for Spiderman its not their fault,Activision it is to blame.

Because Spidey wouldn't act like a menace? Yeah, it's an interesting concept though. I know it was done in Web of Shadows but still, interesting to see it again without the black suit's involvement. I guess I would have a problem with it. The black suit is the only thing I can see making Spidey a menace. Either that or we're secretly playing as Mysterio when we choose to be a menace. LOL

I think you guys are misunderstanding what this hero or menace system actually means. They already talked about it. It's nothing more than a "reputation" system. If you refuse to fight crime in the city (I imagine random crimes) the city could turn against you or it could have a certain effect on the interaction between you and the citizens/city.

It will most likely not involve anything of the extend we saw in WoS. Spider-Man 3 on the PS2 (which was a different game than on PS3/360/PC) had something similar where the city became "dull" (trees lost their leaves, there was more trash and the weather became darker when you refused to fight crime).

This.

Am I the only one who doesn't find the swing system in SM2 as awesome as everyone makes it out to be?

I feel its gotten overhyped due to nostalgia over the years. Going back to play it the swing system just doesn't feel THAT great. USM and WoS felt like they had better swing systems.

Your not the only one. I absolutely agree with you.

Imdb list Stephanie sheh as the voice actor for Gwen Stacy in TASM 2, not sure if its true or not though.

vehemently disagree; especially re. WoS.

is it nostalgia if ppl are still playing the game to this day? don't think so.

spider-man 2 was a more complex version of USM, minus the ability to climb up weblines as you swung. you could build momentum, so much so that loop de loops were possible, could take extremely sharp turns, boost your height and speed, wall run was more generous than USM, and more than just buildings could be swung from.

not sure if you were using simplistic swinging controls, but the default, complex version has yet to be beaten.

USM comes close, but has less depth and is more accessible. if you are good enough, you can better approximate the feeling of being spider-man in spider-man 2 than USM.

Oh yeah definitely. But I'm afraid it might not amount to something like that and it'll be a tacked on morality system, but maybe not since they're advertising it.

The animations from WoS during the web swinging were/are some the best we've gotten. But the actual swinging system is def best on either USM/SM2. Both are pretty great though I prefer the USM one. That said, imo, it's pretty sad that in 10 years no one has come close to making a web swing that equals or surpasses them.

Turning in the normal swinging mode is stiff, that fixed, and the swinging system would be closer to the perfect swinging system
USM swinging system is watered down heavily
Web of Shadows has great swinging, I might consider it the best swinging system, only it lacks the hand switch and chopper swinging modes

Ultimate Spider-man was good, but it always felt like you were being dragged by the webbing. lol. I agree that Spider-man 2 web swinging had more stuff to do. Like dual webs and aerial tricks. It would be cool to climb the webbing again like USM and WOS.

When are the events of this game supposed to take place? Shortly after the movie like the first game?

Not sure, I think it might be after the movie. I don't think Beenox has stated this yet. Which is smart of them to do so since it might spoil somethings about the movie. If it is after the movie I guess we'll find out if Gwen dies or not. But then again Gwen will probably be in this game so it might be taking place in the same events of the film just happening differently with this whole alternate timeline thing the games are apparently doing.

Looked at the synopsis. It says that the game takes place 'alongside' the events of the film so that could mean somewhere in the middle of TASM2 (as a subplot) or directly afterward like the first game. We probably won't know until the game is released.

We do know. Beenox confirmed that it does not (directly) relate to the 2nd movie at all. The game takes place after the first game (which took place after the first movie and started the game universe which does now go seperate ways) and "only" adds key elements of the 2nd movie (I assume they have a rough subplot that follows the movies storyline).
