Why is it so hard to replicate or build off of the swinging system from the 10 year old SM2: The Game?

All trailers show some sort of gameplay footage but it's usually done in a highly edited, very cinematic approach. We're talking close-ups with slow-mo and dubstep. It's meant to attract your senses. I'm talking about completely unedited gameplay as though you're standing/sitting next to someone who is actually playing thru the game. That is what I wanna see.
It's sad when you want to make the game experience look and sound just like the trailers, but you can't

What's funny about that?

Why is it so hard to replicate or build off of the swinging system from the 10 year old SM2: The Game?

Because it'd suck hard. It was good for the time the game was released in but obsolete by now. The webs had no physics other than collisions (they were straight lines) and the overall webswinging was bad too. Unrealistic physical behaviour of Spider-Man (like being suspended in mid-air) etc.
People only liked it because it was fast and they view it through childhood/nostalgia goggles (go ahead and replay it, I can't because it all feels outdated and unrealistic to me).

I actually want them to create a proper physics based webswinging from scratch without looking at e.g. SM2. Get the webline physics done first (weblines being its own entity: bend, stretch, collisions hell even tear apart/break would be a nice addition) then look into the overall physics for the character (momentum, speed etc.) so it looks as realistic as possible. I'm still waiting for the day a Spidey game gives me movie CGI like webswinging (crane swing scene in TASM1 anyone? TASM2 trailer electro power plant escaping?).

They're focusing on the swinging more this time and no sprinintg... if they take out wall running im going to be mad

Don't think we'll ever need to wall run again if they deliver a proper physics based swinging system. Or wall crawl ...
We could simply launch ourselves up a building faster than a wall sprint/crawl could ever do.

Guys, a charged jump and a charged swing isn't the same thing.

Beenox even friggin' said you will charge your swing with L2 if you swing with R2 and vice versa.

Charged jump is when you hold down X on the ground and releases to jump very high.

The game feels outdated to me too, mostly because of the combat and voice acting. But saying people only like it because they wear nostalgia glasses is a bit arrogant and simply false. To many people, web swinging around the city in full speed is fun as hell! That's mostly what there is to the game, but anyway...

I prefer Spider-Man (2000) over Spider-Man 2 any day of the week. And no, not because of nostalgia glasses.

I don't care so much about wall running but wall crawling should definitely stay for obvious reasons.

Treyarch gave us both, I think Beenox should try to do that too

Here goes my dreams of switching between arms while swinging in a new game

Why not? Running is an exhilarating feature

Well you can probably hold onto 2 weblines at the same time. Beenox kind of teased that in response to a question about holding onto 2 weblines at the same time (they said wait for the trailer).

I'm starting to wonder if Electro is even in the game. The synopsis on Best Buy doesn't say anything about him. And I don't think Beenox has said anything about him. I am curious about what enemies will be in the game.

I'm pretty confident that we'll see Electro in the game. Chris Baker from Marvel said that TASM2 kind of retells their own version of the movies story. We probably get to see Electro but in a (propably slightly) different way.

I really need a trailer at this point. Simple descriptions won't do it for me, especially ones coming from Best Buy and not Beenox/Activision themselves.

Because to me, wall crawling is more "Spidey" than wall running. I don't care if wall running is faster, I want to feel like Spider-Man.

If you think about it, wall running must be much harder or physically annoying than wall crawling, so much that it shouldn't be worth it in the long run. There's always gravity pulling you down while your only connecting part to the wall are the feet.

I think in Spider-Man 2 you could wall run but only for a short bit. That's what I'd prefer over a "Prototype" wall run.

Not holding into two string at once while swinging, I want to switch arms like Spider-Man does sometimes in cartoons, holding into one line, while shooting the other with his other hand

The heck? What's with too much care for physics playing a character defying physics? I understand the dislike of double jump (which can be avoided, easily), but everything else?
And Spidey still crawls to walls

Wall running is my schtick I do a combination of wall running and web swinging like I said before I like to be bouncy and fast and that is my favorite thing I run and flip from building to building and when I don't have room I web swing I love being acrobatic. I love running against walls and use it as momentum to push me further and then swing, you just don't know how exhilarating it is imo, its also one of my ways of surprising crooks.

I also wonder can we grab someone like in Sm2 and then proceed to carry them around and them.....DROP THEM. Yes I did it in Sm2 lol. It was pretty fun.

Oh my god, yes! I used to bring them to the top of the Empire State Building and pile-drive them straight into the ground. God damn, thats nostalgic...

Haha yep, I used to do the same thing. Good times.
