The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Thread - Part 3

I still don't understand what this game looks like, I feel like we have seen two different versions, but ti hasn't been specified yet. Pretty sure the bright looking Spider-Man design is from the current gen and the one from the trailer is Next-Gen, but maybe I'm wrong. These screenshots just look so off in comparison to the trailer.

The images we saw with a bright Spider-Man can never be from current gen consoles. No way they're ever going to achieve smooth corners like that + acceptable graphics and a good draw distance.

How? There is games that look much better than TASM2 in the X360/PS3 gen.

Look at the announcement teaser trailer, that's the PS3/360 version. You will instantly notice that it can never be the version you see in the screenshots.

I really don't think there will be a massive difference between the two gens.

The game doesn't even look next gen and they are too lazy to do a good game looking on the current?

Didn't they already cut the price of the PS3/360 version of the game by $10. That can't be a good sign for that version. Good thing I've got my PS4.

When a next gen system comes out this is usually what happens, the price for the "next gen" version will be $/£10 more than last gen. TASM 2 is £39.99 on Xbox 360 where I live and £49.99 for PS4.

It happened when Xbox 360 and PS3 came out, games on PS2 were £39.99 and 360/PS3 were £49.99. Then they eventually came down to £30-£39 when they became current gen.

I wouldn't take it as any indication for graphics or overall quality.

There won't be a huge difference.

^Eh, you're probably right. I have a feeling that Beenox developed the game for the last gen and only did a port to the newer gen.

Watch both trailers:

The difference is notable. The teaser trailer is old gen (PS3/360) and the cars are horrible, the environment is dull and lackluster and the peds look bad too.

No, the game looked worse in the teaser because it was still in development. When the second trailer came out it was touched up. That teaser is not the PS3/360 version. PS4 and PS3 will look similar. I talked about this on this thread a while back, no game that is coming out for last gen and next gen will look different from each other, only games that are built for and around the PS4 and Xbox One will look next gen.

Arkham Knight and Infamous: Second Son will look next gen because they're only for the next gen systems, meaning they were built for it and not having to sacrifice quality so it can work on the last gen.

Yes the teaser is the 360/PS3 version, Beenox confirmed it like 10 minutes after they released the teaser due to the ****storm they've been receiving on twitter for the bad graphics.

Spidey free roam games will always have a graphical disadvantage.

There probably won't be, the main differences will probably better AA, 1080p resolution and bit higher textures. Hopefully it also helps the open world with more crowd density and less pop in, but I don't know if they will go that far.

That's the developers fault not Spidey's.

The graphics when I when free roam in the Batman games look great.

Eh, no.

Batman AC free roam looks great because of a couple of reasons in comparison to ASM. First, the size of the free roam area is much smaller in AC than in ASM. Second, Spider-man's agility and speed allows him to move much quicker in comparison to Bats thus putting even more strain on the processing power. Not only is Spidey moving at a greater speed, he can also move in any direction at a moments notice and be anywhere from street level to up in the air at a 100 stories. There's only so much you can create in the environment graphically before it begins to hamper that ability and you lose the smoothness in that movement. Batman on the other hand is moving at a much slower rate therefore allowing more of the processing power to be allocated to the graphics in the environment.

This. The Batman games take place in smaller environments with limited movement. Spider-Man is fast and can go everywhere. Not to mention that NYC has to feel alive, the Batman games get away with having few peds roaming the streets.

And I think that the difference will be more than just resolution and AA. The whole visuals seem to be downgraded (cars have GTA VC like edges and no smooth vehicle bodies etc.).

This.

As I stated before, the greatest obstacle Beenox has after Activision is Spider-Man himself. Batman can get away with a claustrophobic environment (AA) or a smaller-in-scale open world (AC). Spider-Man can't. Evidently, Arkham Origins' open world shared a lot of those same problems the Spider-Man games have in terms of graphics and level of ATD (attention to detail).

I know it was for Xbox 360 and PS3. :)

But Beenox didn't say that because there was a "****storm", they were just stating that it was for the 360 and PS3. Never have they said the PS4 and Xbox One versions will be better graphically, not yet anyway.

You can see the difference by comparing both trailers (teaser: PS3/360, trailer from january: ps4/x1).

They didn't. You can clearly see that the cars are different and not GTA VC style anymore. But we'll see when they release the walkthrough trailer.

Dude, that's what they do with games, they touch them up make the textures look better.
