I watched the vid again. I like how there seems to be several different stealth takedown animations and I love how you can web yo-yo and do a takedown as well.
I think I'm going to agree with the developer about that being one of his favorites
It's my favorite stealth attack in the previous game

Yeah except this time it looks like you can control the web yo-yo manually and it's not an automated animation like last time.

I hope it is what it looks like, I'll be very thrilled then

And I hope this game has a crane, 3 of Spidey's movies have crane scenes, and I go to cranes in different games playing as Spidey, even in LEGO Marvel

I'm still a bit bummed by the web swinging, mainly due to the fact that you seem to be in non-collision mode (swing through signs etc.) and that the trailer didn't show if you can hold onto a webline. Knowing Beenox I'd very well expect them to have you auto-release the webline at the highest point (to hide the fake momentum/physical swinging). Swinging through the tunnel should've launched Spidey into the ceiling instead of smoothly swinging through there due to the short webline + momentum he had.

That's your opinion and I respect it but I have to disagree. SM2 and Webs and even 1 were really good games. Ultimate Spiderman was great as well.

But think whatever you want. I respectfully disagree.

For the time they were awesome. Ultimate still is. Webs I just think is god awful. Spider-man 2 would be if there was less grinding and 3 hrs of "MAH BAWLLOOOOOOOOONS" before getting to the next excellently crafted story mission.

Treyarch were greatly creative with that Spider-Man 3 game, and I found it to be the most fun Spider-Man game to date (though I thought Amazing Spider-Man might stick as my favorite for a while, it didn't)
The web yoyo, the boss fights, the subway, pulling thugs with the web while sticking on walls, multi-subdue, about 6 different web attacks, the Spider-Sense, different counter indicators (blue being the best, using the enemy move in your favor), counter and reflexes allow dodging more than one hit at once instead of needing to press dodge even while on reflex..........
And maybe more

Agreed! Weird part was at the time I was assigned with reviewing both it and the other version released for Wii and PS2. I felt that whatever one version did right, the other did wrong and if they had only been mashed together we'd have had a perfect Spidey game. The web swinging in the Wii/PS2 one was fast... real fast. It felt like you were flying through NYC and it felt GREAT compared to it's big brother on PS360. Thing was... all that stuff you mentioned? Man. Combat was really overhauled in SM3 and in the little brother counterpart was reduced to "DUH HUR I PRESSED A BUTTON AND WON".

I just felt for me ASM had the best... balance. It's not nearly the most creative (in fact it's bosses are horrid), it just balanced stuff so well.

I agree about the merger potential, I think similarly whenever I play either version

That's what I was looking for too. Being able to hold onto the web is important. I would hate to buy the game and then find out ONCE AGAIN it's not possible.

Great post! My thoughts exactly.

I think they are still great games even after all this time.

Okay, so I saw the gameplay footage..
It looked absolutely terrible. How could they
OMG I'M JUST KIDDING!! IT LOOKED ****ING AMAZING!! I was literally NOT expected that!!
It looks like a vast improvement over TASM. I think the graphics look great!

The web swinging looks ****ing awesome, imo! You can clearly see that there is weight to Spidey when he's swinging and that there is in fact momentum and gravity in place. Is it better than SM2 web swinging? Maybe not. But is it fun? Sure does look like it!
I take back everything bad I said about this game. This footage has really put my mind to rest. I had really low expectations and Beenox have succeeded them.
I know it's not Batman Arkham, GTA or Infamous, it's a movie game. But, it looks like an incredibly fun movie game. And to be honest, it doesn't even look like a movie game to me.

I can tell that this is gonna be lots of fun. They really did take what was good from the last game, and improve on it.
I wish they had've shown more web rush, but I guess I'll find that out for myself ;)

Anyways, consider me sold. In fact, I'm going out tomorrow to buy a PS4 and pre order this bad boy!

Wow lol. Wait till it comes out first. Clouded the force may be....:ikyn:jedi

Just saw the walkthrough, I must say it was really good, hopefully there's a demo somewhere I play it soon

I think the footage looks alright, but it just isn't enough to give me confidence that the game will be good.

I think I will be getting this. Looks similar enough to the first game which I liked a lot. Yet, it has some new things in it. I'm a bit disappointed that New York looks too much the same...Central Park is NOT that tiny.

Even though many of you may disagree with me, I think it all went downhill after Ultimate Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2 was the peak of Spidey games, Ultimate Spider-Man was a worthy successor, and everything afterwards has been pretty much mediocre to poor.

No game has managed to match Spider-Man 2's web-swinging mechanics. The player had a strong sense of Spider-Man's visceral speed whenever a mission had to be completed. It's a very impressive game.

Ultimate Spider-Man had very dynamic villains and plot. It is also the Spider-Man game with the most personality in terms of graphic design.

Just my opinion.

I am going to go out on a limp and say that the combat system will largely be the same in this game minus the critical strikes and other stuff they claimed is in the game.

How do you guys feel about that? And if you pay attention they said swinging has 3 upgrades. Catapult(= Slingshot) , Boost, and it looks like Web Boost might be the last one. If that's the case......we technically only have 2 swinging upgrades. Not sure how I feel about that. Even though Sm2 had unlockable swing speed it still was fun to unlock and it made completing races very fun and satisfying. With this games physics I have a feeling that races still won't be worth playing. Especially if the most important component is missing.

I think this could potentially be Beenox's last game or at least the last Beenox game I will have interest in. They mean well but sadly I think they don't get Spidey. Besides the budget and time constraints. I don't think they are capable any longer. But even if that means a new developer I don't want them forgetting about the old games when they are developing the new one.

I'm optimistic...

I think a lot of people are forgetting, it's one thing to watch a game...a totally different beast when playing them. I feel this game could surprise us in a way. Visually, I'm not a fan of how the webswinging "looks". It just doesn't look like Spider-Man to me. I get that Beenox wants to put their own spin on things but, I'd love for a realistic Spider-Man 2 physics swing system. Or make it comic-book realistic? I don't care! Just something that brings back the thrill of swinging through New York.

I think the only potential this swing system had going for it is the duel triggers. I think that could add a layer of skill to the mechanic. I'm still reserving my judgement.

The new footage is pretty good. Graphics actually aren't that bad. I did enjoy the last game and this looks like an improvement so I'll play it. Probably won't pre-order though.

The swinging in this game is obviously better than the last one, but it's probably no better than web of shadows, though it's hard to tell without playing the game myself. I get the feeling we wont have dual webs like SM2, which is a shame because it would have gone well with their two trigger system.

I've stopped expecting as much from Spider-man games but what I'd like to see them moving towards is replicating real in game physics that effect the characters/objects rather than just animations that mimic physics (usually badly). The more realistic the physics, and the less automated the moves are, the greater the sensation that you're actually controlling a guy with super powers and a pair of webshooters, which I think should be the goal.

The webs need to be treated like real objects rather than just visual effects that are drawn on the screen when ever spider-man is floating. I want to be able to shoot web anywhere, at anytime, and have it actually attach me to what ever object I hit. If I hit a moving bus, the bus will pull me along with it. If I hit a person on a motor bike, they will be pulled from the bike etc. I should be able to shoot a web at a wall and walk around. If I walk towards the wall the web goes slack, if I walk away from the wall it goes taught and starts to stretch creating tension.

And dare I say it, combat
It's the only one with wall bouncing attacks

The game looked ok. I wish that the neighborhood around Aunt May's house would be playable but I doubt it will. I have the PS4 version pre-ordered.

THIS THIS THIS THIS. They don't understand that webbing should be a seperate entity as well as something you can mix into combat. They like to make his webbing automatic in the combat and other areas. I am not a fan of that because it takes the freedom of controlling Spiderman away. I'm glad I'm no the only one who feels the same way. Web Rush is very automated and the animations of it can be pretty poor. This is why I don't think Beenox is the developer to give us the Spiderman game we want. They have had multiple tries to get him right and it seems like they have a good ideas sometimes they also have some kind of automated mechanic that keeps me from truly feeling like Spiderman. I don't think they have what it takes.

I don't know if I asked this already, but is it worth getting the PS3 version of the game? I'll be getting a PS4 late 2014/early 2015, so IDK if I should just wait until then to get the PS4 version of TASM2.

I'd just wait. By then hopefully the game will have a price drop.

You can skip this if you want I got slightly carried away while typing.

I would like a weapon wheel type thing with just two options, one is for straight up combat (I seen someone mention DmC style which would be good with better spidey animations) and the other is for web. the combat one could still have some web moves in it. but with the web one you can choose the type of web (eg. electric, ice or whatever else) and it would be for all web things like
web bullets- use it to shoot bad guys or switches and
webbing someone up- catch people who are running away or hanging people up in web cocoons.

for stealth attacks you should just aim at someone and tap the web rush button and if you're on the combat one you will knock them out if you're on the web one you will web them up do a web cocoon move.

web shooting should be max payne 3 style but toned down there should always be a small reticle on the screen and whatever way its pointing is the way the character should be facing and you have a dive button that you could use to dodge as well as spidey sense that would warn you when to dodge or use slo mo (bullet time in max payne) and you can do stuff while in the air and web swinging.

Everyone's going to tell you PS4, I am going the opposite route and telling you that since it's the same game I wouldn't bother spending $10 more for the current gen (PS4) version especially that late out if you feel like playing it right now. Same game, same graphics, probably up-res'd a bit and last-gen is the primary focus thus... if you don't have a PS4 already it seems PS3 would be the way to go my man.

Spend the extra $10. It'll be worth that much more alone for re-sale or trade-in value. Not to mention you'll be playing it on a better system and who knows if PS4 will have exclusives that PS3 will not. It's worth all 1000 pennies extra it'll cost you.
