I wish there were screenshots for the ps3/360 versions. I am really worried they totally skimped on last gen, much like how the spider-man 3 game played out. It was completely different, and utterly terrible on PS2.

What they've been showing is the "last gen" version. The developer walkthrough was the PS4 version, but it had like no differences because Beenox said they're focusing on last gen systems. It's smart of them to, more people have last gen systems.

Exactly, that's what I said earlier when I compared this to Spider-Man 3 about the engine jump and game difference

So maybe I shouldn't bother waiting for a PS4 version. We'll see.

Well the PS4 version is confirmed to be native 1080p (the Beenox rep confirmed it in a comment on the PS Lifestyle interview article) and it could very well be unlocked 30fps or even 60fps if they optimized it.

The 360/PS3 version will be 720p at max with most likely 30fps with dips.

I just wish they would've improved their entity streaming/texture loading for next gen versions... I mean it's an investment they'll have to do regardless (future games will most likely be next gen only, don't think they'll make a new engine from scratch but instead upgrade the existing one) and it could've helped with texture pop-in and maybe even pushing more detail like more pedestrians and vehicles in the streets.

Playing Ultimate Spider-Man until this comes out! I love the new suit he gets, it's like a live action Ultimate Spidey suit

I'll try to do what I did for the previous game, and not play any Spider-Man games while waiting, just so it won't cloud my judgment of this game

Haven't played a Spider-Man game on any platform in years... Starting to get withdrawals...

I still just don't know how to feel about this game. As of now I just don't see this being much better than TASM1: The Game. :(

This.

Well at least TASM3: The Game will probably be native to the PS4.

Iron Spider perks!

Probably won't be. I am watching this game like a hawk. Those walkthrough's AFTER the game is out are extremely important for me. I bought ASM and beat it and played it once. The swing system turned me off and while I liked web rush and I liked the feel of the combat I felt no incentive to play the game again. Upgrades felt worthless...there truly was no incentive to level up. The side missions were pretty boring and I didn't like how the game mapped each of them out. I think that hurt the game too. They should be spontaneous to a degree. I shouldn't just go to the map and do them. The alternate costumes were ok but they didn't do anything special nor did they do anything they did from the comics. All and all the game wasn't worth 60 dollars and it's never good when you play a game and then have no incentive to play it again. Even with the infinite crimes promised in ASM2 if the gameplay isn't fun and if the AI and upgrades aren't worth while I won't have any incentive to play the game again. They fooled me once and it won't happen again. "I've been at the mercy of men just following orders......NEVER AGAIN".

The biggest flaw TASM1 had was that it literally told you to trade the game in after you were done with it. As soon as you maxed out Spidey there was literally nothing left to do except for replaying missions via your apartment. No crimes you could stop, nothing. Not even a new game plus mode which would've kind of been an acceptable way of adding replayability without adding end game infinite crime missions. But no, you had this maxed out Spidey and couldn't do anything with him.

That's the biggest flaw TASM1 had which eventually broke the games neck quite abruptly. They read the feedback/complaints and added replayability via different perks for different suits you have to level up, more responsive and intuitive open world mechanics and infinite crimes popping up. Now if they only release meaningful DLC that adds more story content (they literally have the deep blue ocean of opportunities right there, origin DLC with flashback missions etc.) and support the game longer after its release (patches to fix crucial things like the savegame issue the PS3 version had etc.) this could be a turn around moment for the franchise.

And I sure as hell hope they use the actual open world NYC hub for missions. They said they went for a more open mission design but what they ended up showing us in the walkthrough trailer was just a "more open level" (it's no different than the indoor levels we had in TASM1, only difference is no ceiling and more ways to move around the map) instead of a mission using the actual city hub.

Which of the preceding Spider-man games are worth playing? Last one I played was Sm2, and I've been itching to pick up something else to hold me over until I have enough money to pick up the Xbox One and ASM2.

Has anyone played Web of Shadows? It's like the only Spidey game I haven't played. It didn't get great reviews and watching some clips, Spidey sounds like a whiny *****. I mean people said Spidey sounded whiny in Raimi's series but this one plus his voice just seems whinier.

Spider-Man 3. The best looking and most detailed NYC I've seen in a Spidey game. Builds on everything SM2 introduced etc. but it's only worth playing on 360 due to the PS3 version being one of the, if not the most horrifying port of all times (you can literally swing through the city and see a building pop in right infront of you without any textures + horrible FPS slowdowns).

Web of Shadows had nice web swinging (webs attach to nothing though most of the times, but they make it look like it does) but the voice actor sucks and the story is lame too (apocalypse story line). No replay value other than new game plus. The surface combat is nice too, allowing you to fight enemies on almost any surface (wall, ceiling, ground etc.) with nice air combat scenes.

I never bothered picking up any of the Beenox comic Spidey titles because I think level based Spidey games aren't really worth it. Never able to enjoy them and Spidey simply has to be an open world character. I'm more of a realistic/movie tie-in guy too... I hate games with comic-like art style (part of the reason I hated Ultimate Spider-Man, that and the incredibly annoying Electro times square fight as Venom which I never finished) or games not focusing on the only true Spider-Man, Peter Parker.

Worst voice acting of any Spider-Man game, but has the best combat of any of them. Web swinging is serviceable and the beginning of the game is pretty boring, gets way better later though, I actually still play it from time to time for that in air combat.

I think Web of Shadows is alright. I thought it was a lot better than Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time.

It's worst Spidey game ever imo. Worst voice acting, awful combat system, terrible story, the most of the characters were poorly written, repetitive gameplay and the city is really dead and boring.

I think SD is the best Spider-Man game in last 8 years. Captures classic Spidey feel perfectly.
