The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Thread - Part 6

I played Spider-Man 2 yesterday for PS2.

Swinging is not that great, it's REALLY stiff. Web of Shadows and Spider-Man 3 has a much funnier web-swinging than in SM2.

Combat is meh too. New York is awesome though, great scale between it and Spidey, and Spidey feels weighty jumping and running around.

But damn, it's a game that has not aged well.

Yeah but the issue is that WOS and SM3 are just slightly improved versions of the SM2 system, but with the total lack of two handed swinging. SM2 gave you the option to use both methods while those titles only give you one.

Funnier? You mean more fun, right?
I guess it differs from one copy to another, I had two copies of Spider-Man 2, one of them has stiff swinging, the other has fluid swinging
Wall running is done best in Spider-Man 3, in almost every way, they even have the air pressure effect on him as he runs upwards, and how it's easier to run all the way down than to continue running up
Although it doesn't make much sense considering the dude swings for hours, and the height doesn't affect his swinging speed as he moves forward. Moving upwards in a pendulum slows him, downwards speeds him up

The combat in Spider-Man 2 is fun, I don't see why some don't like the overall combat. Spider-Man 3 has even better combat

It may be "more fun", those terms (bigger, more fun, stuff like that) are not my strong point in English lol

I only had one copy of SM2 for PS2, which is the one I used, and I remember it being better overall, and I used the complete swinging mechanism as now. I was 12 when I first played, so my memory might be blinded by the age and it being the first open-world Spider-Man game lol

But now, I'll rather play SM3, USM, WoS or even TASM for an open-world Spidey experience.

I hate it when I desire sitting through something I hate, but just because that is a Spider-Man game with good animation, I want to play it again
Web zipping a car and swing kicking it is fun

Final suit you get in the game (after beating the main story) is [BLACKOUT]Spider-Carnage, with mouth and all[/BLACKOUT]

You can see it in this video (super low quality, PS3 version)
[YT]XuBal6t9F-8[/YT]

Also, upgrades appear to be per suit, not for Spidey himself.

I thought we get [blackout]Spider-Man 2099[/blackout]

So every time you leave your apartment the time of day changes, correct?

I thought one of Beenox's first promises of the game was that the city would feel and look more "alive"? It still looks pretty damn dead to me, even on PS4.

I didn'd beat the game yet,but The meeting with Kraven is in daylight so it will always have daylight till you meet him, if the next mission takes places at night it will be always night till you finish it.

I figure it is going to be what it is during the story mode.

I meant after you beat the game and just want to go free-roam. In ASM1 you could choose when you left the apartment.
Someone here said it just changes every time you leave your home now a month ago, just wanted to know if it is true.

There is more people, cars, missions and if you pass close to the civilians they applaud you.

Personally for now I don't see what else they could do to the city. Literally the only thing for it to feel more alive is just more cars and more people. You just can't do anything else to make it feel alive.

I guess variations in terms of how many people you see based on time of day. So for example the afternoon time would have more cars due to work ending, whereas the midday whilst still extremely busy wouldn't have problems such as traffic or something.

Stiff? You need to level up, yes there's a real leveling system in SM2 lol. And more than 3 upgrades *gasp* it actually takes awhile to unlock the full potential of the web swing in sm2.

If you think that's stiff, then your playing it wrong, and you need to upgrade because it's anything but.

Everything else about SM2 is lackluster, it really is, but the web swinging mechanics are spot on. You have choice, unlike every other game that was released after that forces you to jump off a web line for some reason.

If the story is completed then yes (you choose it) but if not the time will be defined by the mission that you have to do.

Okay, I'll bite. Does Electro look like Pinhead in this game to anyone else lol

I agree completaly, and yeah it works that way.

They promised that?
Maybe a very very slight upgrade

Yep. Also, what the hell is the point of the dialogue wheel? It doesn't change anything, there's no purpose to it. And Peter looks so awful lol

The dialogue wheel reminds me of the same dialogue choices you were able to use in WoS. They offered no changes to the story and were completely skippable. Lame.
