I believe you just have to keep you combo meter up and make sure you're not hit. Bad thing is that spidey's hits are so slow that it makes it difficult. You just have to have a correct rhythm to your button pushing instead of frantically hitting it.
Enjoying the hell outta this game, though they need to tone down how many crimes are going on at once, the city feels like a warzone sometimes with all the bombs, burning buildings, large scale shootouts, and car chases. also the crimes should take longer before they expire and hurt you rep. meter, you can hardly free roam for more than a few minutes before you need to do something to restore your reputation.
He looks a LOT like USM. More so in game than film.
I love the score in this game. Love.
@Zed. I don't think it surpasses Web of Shadows....at least not to me. I think the game is better than the first however they really didn't add anything new to certain aspects of the game. And as much as I like the combat it desperately needs more options.
I also think that Beenox made some ODD choices. The dodge mechanic with triangle is really weird. I guess they figured triangle is counter so why not movement? But imo pressing x and doing it makes a lot more sense. I also feel like Spidey doesn't have enough flipping and Spider-like animations. At least not manual movement. Swinging is definitely better than the first game but it's still partially automated. They need to add more options to it so that the different mechanics can be used fluidly to produce some Amazing Spider movement. EX. Starts Swing at the bottom X(SM2 Momentum) then Web Rush....*While flipping* Activate Air Tricks in between....Web Rush Complete....into Wall Run.....into a final Somersault. Even with the controller rumble I think it's still important to feel the web line itself as well. And why not vary the animations start the swing as well. In the movies and comics Spiderman does not always do the same pose.
I went off on a tangent lol....my bad. As for the WOS comparsion I think that WOS had way more combat upgrades and it gives you way more control over movement. I wasn't a fan of web strike all the time but I liked the fact that it UPGRADED to something.
Well that's your opinion, honestly I am tired of the spiderman 2 mechanic comaparison. Not everyone thinks that game is the end all be all of web swinging, I actually think this game has better web swinging than web of shadows and spiderman 2. I am sure someone thinks amazing spiderman 1 had the best web swinging.
So your 100% disagreeing is just disliking the first game's web-slinging. And what do you mean you couldn't chain web-rushes like in this game? Chaining rushes was what the first game was all about.
Essentially ASM2 has the mechanics that should have been in ASM from the start. I cannot believe how dumb the webswinging in asm1 was. Seriously it was just as simple as the FIRST spider-man movie game. It's embarrassing.
Asm2 swing is bare ******* bones. You can't argue that. The separate triggers is cool. That's all. The reason SM2 is the pinnacle (and it IS) is because of the arsenal of moves and freedom they put in YOUR hands as the player. There are limitless possibilities with SM2.
There are no possibilities in ASM2.
Charge jump, leap frogging, double handed webswing, manual catapult, webbing enemies up while swinging, legitimate multiple boost levels, plethora of tricks and modifiable maneuvers (such as holding your pose and spinning in mid air). You could kick while swinging in webs, you could do complete 360s around construction cranes, you could manually dive off of rooftops, and much more. There's just SO much freedom of movement and CONTROL in spider-man 2. It is the spider-man web swinging simulator. Once UPGRADED completely it is, so far, the be all spider-man web swinging. No one can convince me otherwise since every game that followed SM2 was a step down as far as webswinging.
I can't IMAGINE how amazing a new generation Spidey game would be with the SM2 mechanics upgraded with ASMs visuals, story etc.
I mean the ASM movie was all about "real webswinign" and the real stunts they pulled off, just LOOK at that stuff, its nothing like the games. I want to feel the weight and to be able to control my damn spider-man lol!
Actually I think that SM2 had one of the best locomotion systems for any Spiderman game. It wasn't just about the swinging. I think it's better than Shadows but your still not 100% in control of it. Do you care about more control or are you ok with the game playing for you and not having more realistic physics?
Pretty much. As for Web Rush you could quick rushes but the camera would make it really hard and it caused the flow to stop. This game actually fixed that flaw.
Key word...CONTROL. People don't seem to understand what we mean we refer to the SM2 system. We want freedom of movement. Go try to do a loop in ASM2 and tell me how that works out.
Or try to climb up your web. SM2 is 10 years old. The swing system was great but that doesn't mean it can't be improved even further. I truly feel like the SM2 swing system combined with some of the features from other games could be the DEFINITIVE Swing experience.
This game is better than 1 but it's still not the definitive Spiderman experience.
Can you even imagine, shooting a line with the left trigger ahead of your body, not friggin above you, making a full pendulum swing, and at the very top of that swing (not letting go of your Left trigger line) shoot a line with your right trigger, THEN letting go of your left trigger and continue that pendulum swing on your brand new Right web line, THEN jumping off and *gasp* NOT running into an invisible wall of momentum loss, While in mid air your Holding down a charged jump button like X (Hello Beenox! X button!) THEN shooting 2 lines at the same time with each trigger, you let go of your charged jump button which then LAUNCHES you forward into the air to continue the webswing, ala Spider-Man 1 final swing.
I stand up and applaud this paragraph! Completely summed up how I feel about this game!
