I believe you just have to keep you combo meter up and make sure you're not hit. Bad thing is that spidey's hits are so slow that it makes it difficult. You just have to have a correct rhythm to your button pushing instead of frantically hitting it.

Enjoying the hell outta this game, though they need to tone down how many crimes are going on at once, the city feels like a warzone sometimes with all the bombs, burning buildings, large scale shootouts, and car chases. also the crimes should take longer before they expire and hurt you rep. meter, you can hardly free roam for more than a few minutes before you need to do something to restore your reputation.

if all you want to do is free-roam and nothing else then just go back to aunt mays house and play any level before the task force is introduced. I believe you should still retain all your upgrades.

Same here, absolutely love it. It's my favorite, right up there with Ultimate Spider-Man.

I turn the game off, and on, and off, and on, and off... This game just feels really annoying. I'm at Ravencroft right now, and I think that overall Amazing Spider-Man 1 was the better game. It was simply more fun. The story was more interesting, the whole game just felt more engaging. The missions were more interesting, the level design was a whole lot better, and I think I actually felt more powerful too. I still remember that there were occasionally moments, where you fought against a dozen different enemies, constantly dodging, performing finishers left and right.

In this game, the enemy types are more varied, but a ****ing pain in the ass. Try to dodge when you manually get out of the way of gunfire, only to have an enemy do a melee attack, which you of course counter automatically, as you frantically press the dodge button to evade the bullets, forcing you to move back into line of fire and actually get hit.

And while it's nice to have now numerous random crimes and situations where you rescue civilians, they pop up constantly. Halfway into the game I stopped giving a rat's ass about who needed my help.

As much as I want to like it, the game is really trying my patience.

Yay, I'm not the only one who likes the game.

Speaking of USM - there's something about this game that feels very USM to me.

He looks a LOT like USM. More so in game than film.

I love the score in this game. Love.

@Webhead. Move around with the weird triangle dodge command and web shoot them. It stuns them for some reason. Also don't take them out so soon. Move around.

Btw did you guys notice that they decreased Spiderman's size? I noticed it when I was in combat. It reminded me of the SM2 and USM. I actually liked the closer camera in the first game. At least for the combat.

This actually surpasses web of shadows for me as my favourite spidey game. I like the idea of loading old levels to free roam. Boss fights were a lot better in this game then the last. City looks good at night, specially times square.

Just completed the story.

Hm, let's just say you won't be playing this game for the story - it gets pretty crappy towards the end. It's like they didn't even try.

Still, I really, really, like the gameplay. I think I'll be givingthe game a 7.5/10, as of now.

@Zed. I don't think it surpasses Web of Shadows....at least not to me. I think the game is better than the first however they really didn't add anything new to certain aspects of the game. And as much as I like the combat it desperately needs more options.

I also think that Beenox made some ODD choices. The dodge mechanic with triangle is really weird. I guess they figured triangle is counter so why not movement? But imo pressing x and doing it makes a lot more sense. I also feel like Spidey doesn't have enough flipping and Spider-like animations. At least not manual movement. Swinging is definitely better than the first game but it's still partially automated. They need to add more options to it so that the different mechanics can be used fluidly to produce some Amazing Spider movement. EX. Starts Swing at the bottom X(SM2 Momentum) then Web Rush....*While flipping* Activate Air Tricks in between....Web Rush Complete....into Wall Run.....into a final Somersault. Even with the controller rumble I think it's still important to feel the web line itself as well. And why not vary the animations start the swing as well. In the movies and comics Spiderman does not always do the same pose.

I went off on a tangent lol....my bad. As for the WOS comparsion I think that WOS had way more combat upgrades and it gives you way more control over movement. I wasn't a fan of web strike all the time but I liked the fact that it UPGRADED to something.

Out of all 4 Beenox games, so far, this is my least favorite one. The majority of the experience was an exercise in frustration. While the boss battles were actually harder and took more skill to beat this time, everything else suffered in my opinion. The entire mission structures weren't nearly as fun as they were in ASM1. And overall, I wasn't engaged in the plot. And the random crimes/rescues. My god... why is so much **** happening at the same time?

Overall, finishing this game felt like work.

@Nathan.

I am 100% in disagreement with you lol. I liked the combat of the first one but I hated the cloud swinging and while I liked the idea of web rush I didn't like how you couldn't chain the rushes like you can in this game. Because of those flaws I only could play the story mode one time. The city of the first game also felt small and at times Spidey looked taller than the buildings. It took me out of the experience.

Tbh it's like the fixed the code or whatever was wrong with web rush and fixed the swinging and labeled it as a new game. I just have this feeling in the back of my mind that the some of the flaws of the first game were deliberate. They made slight changes but imo not enough changes were made to the gameplay and I still think that the Ai could be a lot smarter and more of a challenge for Spidey.

I would love to battle a villain that is Spider-man's equal but even deadlier.

Well that's your opinion, honestly I am tired of the spiderman 2 mechanic comaparison. Not everyone thinks that game is the end all be all of web swinging, I actually think this game has better web swinging than web of shadows and spiderman 2. I am sure someone thinks amazing spiderman 1 had the best web swinging.

So your 100% disagreeing is just disliking the first game's web-slinging. And what do you mean you couldn't chain web-rushes like in this game? Chaining rushes was what the first game was all about.

Essentially ASM2 has the mechanics that should have been in ASM from the start. I cannot believe how dumb the webswinging in asm1 was. Seriously it was just as simple as the FIRST spider-man movie game. It's embarrassing.

Asm2 swing is bare ******* bones. You can't argue that. The separate triggers is cool. That's all. The reason SM2 is the pinnacle (and it IS) is because of the arsenal of moves and freedom they put in YOUR hands as the player. There are limitless possibilities with SM2.

There are no possibilities in ASM2.

Charge jump, leap frogging, double handed webswing, manual catapult, webbing enemies up while swinging, legitimate multiple boost levels, plethora of tricks and modifiable maneuvers (such as holding your pose and spinning in mid air). You could kick while swinging in webs, you could do complete 360s around construction cranes, you could manually dive off of rooftops, and much more. There's just SO much freedom of movement and CONTROL in spider-man 2. It is the spider-man web swinging simulator. Once UPGRADED completely it is, so far, the be all spider-man web swinging. No one can convince me otherwise since every game that followed SM2 was a step down as far as webswinging.

I can't IMAGINE how amazing a new generation Spidey game would be with the SM2 mechanics upgraded with ASMs visuals, story etc.

I mean the ASM movie was all about "real webswinging" and the real stunts they pulled off, just LOOK at that stuff, its nothing like the games. I want to feel the weight and to be able to control my damn spider-man lol!

Actually I think that SM2 had one of the best locomotion systems for any Spiderman game. It wasn't just about the swinging. I think it's better than Shadows but your still not 100% in control of it. Do you care about more control or are you ok with the game playing for you and not having more realistic physics?

Pretty much. As for Web Rush you could quick rushes but the camera would make it really hard and it caused the flow to stop. This game actually fixed that flaw.

:applaud Key word...CONTROL. People don't seem to understand what we mean we refer to the SM2 system. We want freedom of movement. Go try to do a loop in ASM2 and tell me how that works out.

Or try to climb up your web. SM2 is 10 years old. The swing system was great but that doesn't mean it can't be improved even further. I truly feel like the SM2 swing system combined with some of the features from other games could be the DEFINITIVE Swing experience.

This game is better than 1 but it's still not the definitive Spiderman experience.

Only thing I don't get is how they could manage to make the first game look better than this one. You guys have to agree, TASM2 feels unpolished, lacks quality and variety in almost all departments. It doesn't feel like a fully fledged sequel, it looks like it could be a mod for the first game in certain areas. TASM1 I'd consider is a lot closer to the AAA rank than TASM2 and that says a lot. I can't believe I say it but I'd rather have the first games story in this one because it was overall a good story (even though apocalypse setting... please no more) but the story in TASM2 is just... I can't even explain it. Horrible IMO, especially with them trying to add key elements of the movie but not trying to copy the movie. It doesn't work that way guys, either you do a full on movie tie-in and add everything the way it's in the movie or you go the TASM1 route and make up another story that has zero in common with the movie. They did good with improving the combat and web-swinging but it doesn't help when you compare them both.

Can't be the only one feeling that way? But still, I enjoy playing this game even though it obviously has a lot of flaws.

IGN gave it a

Drum roll please.

5.4 out of 10. Ouch.

He brought up valid points. The swinging is better but they did not give us much of anything else. And I agree with the AI complaint. They aren't that intelligent.

Yea man, At this point.... at this point I really wish Activision and Beenox could just dig up Treyarchs old Engine and put a god damn new generation skin over it. it would be 1000000 times better than what the ASM series is. SURE I would love for them to have something similar to the SM2 system and put their own spin on it or make it even better, but they have no idea what even MADE the SM2 system great in the first place. :wall:

There are on the cusp of greatness here with the alternating Trigger web shooting. If only you had full control over your damn body and the web line had real physics. What is Beenox thinking here? They are so close to greatness, yet actively avoid it.

Can you even imagine, shooting a line with the left trigger ahead of your body, not friggin above you, making a full pendulum swing, and at the very top of that swing (not letting go of your Left trigger line) shoot a line with your right trigger, THEN letting go of your left trigger and continue that pendulum swing on your brand new Right web line, THEN jumping off and *gasp* NOT running into an invisible wall of momentum loss, While in mid air your Holding down a charged jump button like X (Hello Beenox! X button!) THEN shooting 2 lines at the same time with each trigger, you let go of your charged jump button which then LAUNCHES you forward into the air to continue the webswing, ala Spider-Man 1 final swing.

its absolutely possible. I can only hope Beenox takes their next spider-man game seriously. ASM2 is just a typical rehash. Your really onto something here beenox, just focus! sit down, have a meeting, and ask.. what makes great webswinging? CONTROL and option! and momentum! and weight! its so simple! lol

:wall: <- the perfect icon for my emotion toward spider-man games for the past 10 years!

I stand up and applaud this paragraph! Completely summed up how I feel about this game!

just started playing today, I take my time playing these and mostly swing around alot before I play the story, but i will say these two things. The Swinging is much improved to me from ASM1, and 2 the City while still no where GTA IV NYC standards is much better than the last game. Still all in all seems like a better version of the first which is about what I expected, and ya know what its an above average spider-man game. I wont complain about things that bug me because I never expected this to be anything else but what it is. I'll never get a GTA SPIDEY styled game that I dream of. But this is still a fun game to play.

I'm beating every boss with a different suit just to make things more interesting and I'm having too much fun making scenarios in my head on why spidey is wearing the certain suit. I.E. Black Suit for Black Cat (black cats fav. Spidey suit), Noir for Kraven (just felt suitable), Iron Spider for Kingpin (kingpins rich, so I thought spidey would look flashy with red and gold), I wanted to change into 2099 for Electro but right after fighting kingpin you have to enter electro, Superior Spiderman for GG (goblin nation, nuff said), and ends of earth for carnage (would look badass as a fight in a comic) which I'm currently on. This game is not bad, besides the whole menace or hero system being a constant annoyance and all of the loading, not bad. Just really hoping for photo mode like infamous
