Beat it, loved it overall. Will post a review later.

The hero/menace thing is getting on my last damn nerve though. I want to be able to turn that off after story mode...hopefully a patch comes out.

So what? Why continue coming into this thread if you don't like the game or won't buy it or play it? I don't go into threads of films I don't intend on seeing just to tell others it's crap and they shouldn't spend their money on it. A few pages back that's exactly what you were doing.

That drives me insane haha. I just went through that type of ordeal with the new RoboCop film. It wasn't pretty.

has anyone looked at the reviews I've been finding? (whether you take stock in them or not).

So far that's all that's out. Well except that one with the two brothers but they skeev me out

I dunno because I'm bored? I've been pretty consistent over the years about SM games

Are you implying that if I looked up all of your posts, I wouldn't find one where you were in a thread complaining about the topic of that thread? I'm just bored enough to try if you want me to.

You're bored so you come in here to tell people not to spend their money on the game because it's crap. Ok dude hahaha. Ohhh the ignore list is a beautiful thing I tell ya. :cwink:

God I hate the Hero or Menace system. I swear to god this is a pain in the ass. I'd like to swing around freely and actually explore the map for once (believe it or not, I didn't even visit the Oscorp tower yet apart from the few story missions leading me there) but I can't because I'm being forced to do as many side-missions as possible in order to make up for the side-missions that expire on the other side of the map. The game is so unforgiving to people who just want to explore the map without being called a menace (because you will reach the menace status within 3 minutes of not doing anything). It's also starting to drag out a lot with me entering the same burning building for the 10th time, or rescuing the same hostage from the same car for the 20th time.

I hope someone releases a mod soon locking your hero rank to level 3, because I hated the hunters in TASM1 and I'd like to not freeroam with 20 drones following me (especially since they can be taken down in 3 seconds, they're simply annoying causing cuts in my nice suit).

This is just my clearly unpopular opinion, but I feel like Beenox got mad at all the complaints leveled at them about ASM1.

Why don't crimes continue infinitely?
Okay now they will but if you don't do them then the game screws you over

We want webbing to stick to things!
Okay it will but when there is nothing to stick to you have to hear peter say something about it over and over

Is the Raimi suit in the game? Know it was in TASM1. Just wondering.

Right? It makes zero sense. I can understand voicing your opinion. But to continue to try and push your opinion as if it's a fact, and get others to change their opinion into yours is dumb. I feel your pain man. Haha some of the people on these forums, but hey that's when the ignore list comes in handy :word:

Hey man, just doing some community service, looking out for fellow Spidey fans.

I checked all reviews and I mostly agree with them. I'm a hardcore Spidey game and I buy almost every Spidey game (mainly the freeroam movie tie-ins), I usually enjoy them a lot too (I enjoy this game) but that doesn't stop me from seeing its flaws and to overall say it's pretty mediocre and unpolished. Enjoying it regardless, just for the fact that it's finally another open world Spidey game with "ok to good" web-swinging mechanics and acceptable graphics (atleast they try to be realistic unlike WoS art style that got on my nerves).

If I had to honestly rank it from 1-10 I'd give it a 6.9, would give it a 7.0 for good/average but the unpolished, outdated graphics in certain situations, horrid story and lack of variety does not allow me to give that extra 0.1.

trying to compare development 10 years ago to development today is so naive, especially for an Activision game

Yea I understand that, I was generally speaking. There are still parallels. Spider-man needs a new company who can properly handle the dev cycle. Or who can switch off years with Beenox, because they constantly having trouble with every other game they make.

Again talkin to the wrong person. Those 18 people's consensus you speak of, matter NOT to me. Your taste will always be different despite what even 100 people say. To listen to reviews and let it truly influence your mind is sad.

I grew up in the 80s-90s too friend, and I seriously just played what I wanted to play. Rented what I wanted to rent and will never regret those days. The bad games I've played, I'm so happy that I did, maybe not at the time, but it was a learning experience. You relied on reviews, not I. I've always kept the same mindset. mostly because my brother would **** his pants over reviews and I would just be confused why he wouldn't PLAY what he WANTED because of "bad reviews" or bad scores. Like I said. Some of you will alway miss out on what could be your favorite game of all time if you listen to the "consensus".

Reviews are fun AFTER you play the game for yourself, nothing more. Just like rottentomatoes, I only look at the tomatometer AFTER I see the film. I have no idea what ASM 2 is at right now and I do not care! Same goes for any movie I'm interested in.

Just because I value the character doesn't mean I buy anything with his name in it. I don't have a spider-man collection at all, And I only have 5 spider-man games, I can figure out what I'll like and not like. I LIKE the asm2 game. There just needs to be more innovation and ambition infused into beenoxs development of these games. They lost it immidiatly after shattered dimensions any even that game was just OKAY. If Treyarch could do it with a movie game on a short dev cycle 10 years ago, beenox can. They just need to find the right inspiration. Or they need to GTFO lol.
This entirely! Lol there are some games that got crap reviews, that are some of my favorite games today. Kingdoms of Amalur (not bad, but not great reviews), first ASM, ASM2 (Really like this game), DBZ: Battle of Z. I even enjoyed the Tron movie game lol

Spidey needs the Arkham treatment already. A developer that gets proper creative control (their own Earth universe at Marvel) and no fixed release dates. I don't know why Marvel/Disney doesn't create a gaming universe where all characters can appear in. I remember Kevin Feige said something like that but I don't see them doing anything and if they do they probably focus on the franchises they currently have movies for instead of crafting Spidey stories (since Beenox/Activision is currently doing that).

I'd love to see Beenox do their own thing without limited budget and fixed release dates but I sadly don't see it happening. I mean it says a lot when I think that TASM1 is more AAA standard than TASM2, where did the polished feeling get lost in the development cycle?

I've played the PS4 version for about 2.5 hours and I have to get a few things off my chest:

#1...I'd KILL to be able to not just charge my jumps...but freaking charge jump (or even just jump) off the end of a webline/webswing. Oh. My. Freaking. GOD! Why hasn't that been a thing in any of these Beenox games?!?! how hard is that? it gives you so much more control! You add that and the ability to climb the webline mid-swing like in USM and the webslinging mechanics in this game would be soooooooo much better and play so much smoother.

#2...the camera still needs to be pulled back a bit, and it's pretty much horrible/doesn't track well during combat.

#3...they need to allow you to turn of that stupid "nothing to swing from" chirping noise. I get that there's nothing to swing from...when a press a button and he doesn't shoot out a webline! It's annoying...allow me to turn it off.

though all in all so far, game's not bad. the graphics are smooth and I'm sure as I get more upgrades and more used to the controls I'll enjoy it more (for example, once I unlocked the web boost that allows you to get moving around quicker...it put a big stupid smile on my face).

I don't see them adding the Raimi Suit. I know the fanbase, I bet half of them would hate on Beenox for releasing a costume that was in the first game "nice copy paste, why no proper Scarlet Spider instead?". I mean a lot of boards bash the game for having a less clunky HUD (transparent HUD map) and a healthbar. They want the old TASM1 HUD back (the clunky phone and screen being the health bar). The cycle repeats, next game they want the TASM2 HUD back because the TASM3 HUD is "too clunky"... calling it now.

They put that ugly Scarlet Spider suit back in this game so...

You know what I'm talking about... there is only one Scarlet Spider, and people have requested it for years now:

I take it they didn't want to copy/paste every costume. I sure as hell hope that the future DLC isn't just skin packs, because I'll rage hard at every single gamer out there who kept requesting alternate costumes. Now they're going to milk you by releasing costumes instead of doing proper DLC. I can already see it.

Well I personally am all for skins as long as they aren't stupid. A lot of them in this game aren't special to me. Raimi suit is my most disired.

Only thing I don't like is hero or menace, im trying to free roam and SMACK! electric wall.
Honestly though, love the web swinging, now that I have good control over it I can do some crazy fun stuff! Love going straight really fast, using my left trigger to turn left and yank me around a corner! hope they keep the dual trigger mechanic I really dig it.

hey I beat the game but did not get the ends of the earth costume, why?

You know, I loved Shattered Dimensions. I also liked Edge of Time, and enjoyed it for what it was. A straightforward Spider-Man game in the vein of Spider-Man on PS1. Amazing Spider-Man wasn't great, but had potential. But ASM2 kinda keeps pissing me off. I'm not finding myself having the same joy I did with the other 3 games.
