i think they couldn´t do it without the origin because they need to establish their universe imho + little kids

I don't think this movie was actually made with little kids in mind..

The merchandise is though. A lot of Spider-Man merchandise in the toy aisles.

Spider-Man 2 opened up midweek in 2004 but it still made $88 million seven years ago and that's without IMAX or 3D in 2004 or higher ticket prices to drive up box office.

I maintain my belief that doing another origin reboot was a terrible idea. Just should've recast everyone and vaguely connect it to the others. Maybe reboot some characters but that's about it.

Thats a terrible terrible idea

Recast everyone and make Spidey 4?? Terrible
There was a turmoil when there were rumours that Jake Gyllenhaal was replacing Tobey for spidey 3

You mean the tons of those people that rejected this movie and saw Avengers instead?

And this is generally my problem with origin films how obligatory they are and they are basically done because they have to be to get everything done and out of the way. That to me is why this reboot idea was a failure and that is why the reboot did NOT perform that well this weekend.

So what should have they done?
Spiderman 4 wasnt happening with Riami resigning

Grade C supervillians, nothing compared to kind spidey faces
Captain America fought Spider-Man to a standstill in Civil War. And that was an adult Spider-Man who had gotten used to his powers over 15 years or so. TASM's Spidey has had his powers for, like, a month, and the MCU Captain America has fought an alien invasion.

Spidey is faster, stronger, smarter AND senses danger so how a human, even the most perfect human on the planet could defeat that is anyone's guess.

You don't have to be faster or smarter than your opponent to win. You just need to know how to negate those disadvantages. Captain America is the most skilled fighter in the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man, for all his strength and speed, is still untrained. Add in the fact that Cap wields a shield which has knocked down the Hulk (in the comics) and withstood Mjolnir, and it's nowhere near the blowout for Spidey that you proclaim.

Not ****ed with Raimi in the first place. They ****ed with Webb and it looks like he is leaving but thank god as we would have gotten Richard experimenting on his son. I think Webb is out of here. Best case scenario for me...they hire Raimi and let him direct Garfield and Stone.

What makes you say Webb's leaving? In a recent interview, he came out and said he would like to direct another Spider-Man movie. He just won't commit yet.

Captain America is also a great tactician.

They chopped up his movie. Looks like the rumor that the execs hated it were right. They chopped out a lot of the movie. Webb isn't going to say he's out the first weekend of his movie. I bet we hear in a couple of months that Sony is in search of a new director.

They cant show Cap Am defeated

But in reality he stands no chance.
Spidey can jump and lift 10 times as much,is much more faster and strong, can stick too walls, spider sense, swinging and what not

True you need to try to negate your shortcomings, but there are too many in this case

I think the problem is more that they set the release date and he has two years to pump out another movie. Gives him no time to breathe between Spider-Men.

Time constraints will not be the reason Webb leaves. The script will be finished before the year is out and they will start principal this winter or early next year.

Are you guys really talking about Spider-Man vs Captain America?

That's my point, though. He's going to have to turn around and start working on another Spider-Man in about six months time. Most directors - especially ones new to the blockbuster scene - like to take a break between installments. Sony hasn't given him a choice. He either commits now or not at all.

He knew full well that Spider-Man would be the next 6 years of his life before he signed on.

Is Spidey vs Cap related to the box office?
Here's something to think about.
Spidey is a street-level hero, he takes down people like Doc Ock and Green Goblin.
Captain America leads the World's Mightiest Heroes, and he pretty much saves the whole world once a week.
So, considering Captain America, who Batman claimed could actually beat him, can do all that, Cap's gonna win

*Facepalm*
HOW THE **** CAN A GUY CHANGE THE GENETIC MAKEUP OF A CHILD AFTER HE IS BORN? Sheesh

The 'Accident' line was to do with Ratha opening the door to allow Peter get in

I think Webb is out of here. Best case scenario for me...they hire Raimi and let him direct Garfield and Stone.

Not a bad idea
Anyway we're gonna see 2 more spidey movies for sure
The base and cast is strong and the origin is done away with so whoever is hired will do a good job
