They chopped up his movie. Looks like the rumor that the execs hated it were right. They chopped out a lot of the movie. Webb isn't going to say he's out the first weekend of his movie. I bet we hear in a couple of months that Sony is in search of a new director.

LOL
Webb will never walk out of Spiderman,he is still a rookie
It'll be Sony who may sack him, more of Webb's loss than Sony's

Best case scenario for me...they hire Raimi and let him direct Garfield and Stone.

Your best case scenario would be to hire the director of the previous Spider-Man trilogy? How would that be a best case scenario? We've seen his vision already. That's like saying Burton should return to Batman after TDKR.

He knew full well that Spider-Man would be the next 6 years of his life before he signed on.

That definitely makes sense. Sam Raimi had no time to work on other projects.

Is Spidey vs Cap related to the box office?
Here's something to think about.
Spidey is a street-level hero, he takes down people like Doc Ock and Green Goblin.
Captain America leads the World's Mightiest Heroes, and he pretty much saves the whole world once a week.
So, considering Captain America, who Batman claimed could actually beat him, can do all that, Cap's gonna win

'Leading' is not the point
In a one of one, neither of Batman or CapAm stand a chance against Spidey

Block his spider sense and Captain America could stand a chance.

Batman....I don't know, maybe in armor. But still, the first key is to block his spider sense.

So how about that Box office Guys? You guys think A billion is still possible 250 Domestic and 750 OS

Thats like saying steal Captain's sheild and Batman's Armour

I loved Raimi's vision...Webb's I do not. I really don't think Sony is going to sell the film rights so they will likely hire another director and continue....why not hire back the man who made a loved, billion dollar franchise? Raimi isn't doing much but producing anyways.

My first want is for Marvel to have back Spidey. That is a slim chance so right now, I would love for Raimi to come back and be allowed to redeem himself.

If BB was mediocre, I am sure more people would have called for Burton to return.

Nope

It will be around 400M overall after today's earnings come in
Another 13 days to go till the bat flies

I would say 800M tops

Err.. I thought Sony was the one who made the script wanting to make Peter be genetically altered, not Webb.

I don't think the first script leak talked about genetics.

A billion is for sure not happening. Most people have tempered their predictions to under 700 million.

Most spider-man films have made 40-50% of their profits domestically. I feel spider-man needed to have a bigger opening since its window is pretty short on weekend dominance seeing as TDKR comes out the weekend after next.

For the love of God, no more Raimi. I have had enough cheese in a Spider-Man movie. :(

I quite like Webb's take but there's no doubt that he needs an improved script.

Any director can make an excellent spidey film if Sony and Arad give him freedom, problem is they do not

Okay maybe there was an altered origin, twist in the parent's faith etc.Maybe the execs hated it,but it should have remained.Atleast people wouldnt have complained about 'Deja vu' anymore.Plus chopping like that gave the film serious pacing issues in the middle part of the film

If they wanted to change anything, they should have changed it in the script before shooting began

BB was mediocre Box office wise and that all studios care about

how mediocre was? just courious :yay:
but i only want TASM2 to be like TDK of spiderman franchise :woot:

370million is pretty poor by blockbluster standards

We would see a melt down here if TASM ends up with that kind

The difference is Batman Begins didn't sell well overseas. TASM should.

Thats like saying steal Captain's sheild and Batman's Armour

And it would be as easy as those as well when guys ranging from Mysterio to Iron Man can disable his spider sense.

Raimi's vision was fine, at least for the first two films, but as I said, why bring him back when Sony's trying for something new? And it's fine if people would call for Raimi to return, or Burton if BB was only mediocre, but realistically, I don't see previous directors returning just because the new vision doesn't "fit" with the studio's.

And again, are we going to say for sure the box office isn't what Sony expected? Arad and Tolmach have already said they don't expect huge numbers like Raimi's Spider-Man.

not flies...RISES

The B.O. expectations were much lower than for TASM. The last batman movie before begins made 238 million ww. The last spider-man film before TASM made 890 million.

BB made 370 million of a 150 million budget,Spiderman 1 made 850million of a 130 million budget and that too 3 years ago

Point being,If TASM ends up making say 700ME instead of 900ME as per genuine expectations, even then BB is a bigger dissapointment in terms of box office earnings
