Eh. It's no more contrived than, "Uh-oh! Somebody's been a bad Lizard..." No one said Spidey's material has to be comedic gold. :hehe: Besides, I like that he called him "Gobby." :yay:

Oh yeah of course he throws out stinkers every now and then to, I just feel that the bad lizard line felt more natural as opposed to the other line which felt like someone fishing for a joke. Didn't ruin the scene for me though

I liked his "Oh boy," after GG threw the razor-bats more than the "out of your mind!" line, personally.

So it's doing worse than BB so far then, yes?

Yes, but the bulk of BB's profit came from its DVD sales. No one really saw it in theaters because they thought it would suck (like B&R) but word of mouth was so good, the DVDs sold like hotcakes. I predict something similar with TAS.

anytime spidey goes "oh boy" or "that sucked" or something similar it works because those reactions always feel natural. Even his "hate those things" line from spider-man 3 works because of that same fact.

His one-liners did seem a little more natural this time around, like his "that sucked" when Lizard snuck up on him and he got pushed through the sewer system.

I literately refreshed the TASM wiki page, and the budget went from 220 million to 230 million.

Who's being the wise guy? lol

It's just so... Spidey. :funny:

No, they just needed to pay Garfield 10,000 more dollars for his wonderful performance. :P

I loved that. That scene felt like it was ripped straight from USM. Peter always commented on stuff like that in USM and when he did in in TAS I grinned.

Not really. It's opened better but studios also put more emphasis on international grosses so much more now than they did 5 years ago. It's why Disney will continue to make Pirate movies. Men in Black 3 is a disappointment here but overseas it's a hit so there's a good chance the franchise will continue. Spidey will need to make about 200mil more overall, not just in the US, to make a profit

Some complain about the entire high school fight scene, but the entire thing was classic Spider-Man. You could actually envision that as a storyboarded scene lifted from comic panels.

That was one of the best. Raimi's Spider-Man/Peter barely ever quipped, but when he did, they were generally very good. Too bad he didn't do it more often.

They did. Which is why I liked the lizard line because it just flowed and didn't feel like someone "acting." Having good comedic timing isn't easy and it's really easy to tell as an audience member if someone just doesn't have it and is repeating lines off of a script. Audiences, at least the ones I've seen the movie with, seemed to really respond to his wit and humor in this one so I suspect there will be more of that in the sequel

I wouldn't say really good because I feel he had a bigger miss to hit ratio but a lot of that, at least for me, had to do with his delivery of the lines, not the actual lines

I think what makes it work is when he's actually in serious trouble and in danger of really getting killed and he cracks jokes and you can hear the fear in his voice.

He did quip from time to time

'Let mom and dad talk Jonah'
'You are out Gobby,Out of your mind'
'Here's your change'
'I have a knack for that'
'Hate those things'
'I am the sheriff around these parts'
'Is little goblin junior gonna cry?'

Etc etc

I like quips and jokes and stuff.

I'll take that with an order of popcorn.

Yeah, I mean it like this: take the final montage of civilians from The Avengers? Now, they're on the Daily Bugle channel. Simple, easy, unobtrusive way of saying, "This is the same universe."
That would've actually been very cool

So has the sequel been confirmed for May 2014? That is almost Harry Potter/Twilight type turn around.

Not that that is a bad thing. These movies are for the younger crowd which tends to be impatient. Sony has to milk that demographic as much as possible. But it would be concerning for the production/crew invovled.

Obviously they probably had the trilogy already set up from the getgo in some general direction. I just wonder... gonna be a hell of a year if that's the case. Cap 2, ASM2, X-Men: FC 2, GotG??? Marvel is dominating Hollywood at the moment.

No offense, but I have a feeling that TASM was actually not made with kids in mind. If it was they would of told the audience more of what was happening than showed it.
