"It's you who's out, Gobby...out of your mind!" Takes the cake for me. *shudders*

And that's what I mean by something that just doesn't sound natural. It would've been better if they just had him say nothing or something quick and smart mouth

No offense, but I have a feeling that TASM was actually not made with kids in mind. If it was they would of told the audience more of what was happening than showed it.

Or not been as bloody. Lol one of my favorite wrestlers ever, Shawn Michaels, mentioned on his twitter that he liked the movie but it definitely wasn't as kid friendly as he wanted it to be.

"Isn't it a little to early in our relationship to start talking about this Gobby?"

..I'm not a good comedian.

Spider-Man is the personification of teenage angst and a symbol of coming-of-age, so I don't see why he should be catered to children. He can be accessible to them in the same way that Batman or Iron Man is: on a purely visual level.

Exactly. I just think anytime people think of him "being in high school" they immediately assume it's for kids or for teenagers. The movie definitely wasn't written that way, that's for sure.

It was the Raimi trilogy and the 90's Spider-Man show. They did it!

(I only said the 90's show because that's what I watched when I was a wee little child. I honestly don't remember most of it though)

It is 140 million domestic plus 200 million oversees

So 140 million in 5 days,so it is possible to more than double that earning in the next 13 days till TDKR,Right?

So maybe 300Million domestic plus 500 million oversees

800million plus on the cards..

That's not to disparage the film. Spidey caters more to a female audience and obviously lends itself to teen angst drama. But you can not alienate older viewers completely so you have to have a darker atmosphere and explore some deeper themes than Twilight obviously. I just don't believe dark neccessarily means more adult oriented. Certainly doesn't mean more kid friendly either. Somewhere right in between.

The MCU has masked this by going with veteran actors that young teenage males imagine living vicariously through at times. We all envision "hulking out" in a metaphorical sense, aspiring to be Tony Stark, being a "captain" on the team per say, but there is little depth or thought provoking thematic exploration. That's why Spiderman caters so well to BOTH sexes. Doesn't alienate one or the other.

One of the worst lines of the first trilogy. I'm having horrible flashbacks.

It's actually "Look at little Goblin Jr.. You gonna cry?"

And it's a great line- delivered perfectly.

about 65 OW, that's pretty much what i expected.

You're kidding, right? On top of being incredibly cheesy, it's just not something Peter would ever say - under the influence of the symbiote or otherwise.

I'm delighted this movie is thriving at the box office so far. I think a sequel is a lock.

No- cheesy is an exchange between Spidey and a car thief about if he's a cop dressed in Red & blue tights. Especially opening with "If you're going to steal a car- don't dress like a car thief-" WTF does that even mean? What does a car thief dress like? Not to mention that appearing and disappearing in thin air was never one of Spider-Man's powers. That's the result of writer's block.

..how is the above cheesy?

..how is the above cheesy?

1. Spidey doesn't appear and disappear. It's a bs camera trick for "effect".
2. A real crook wouldn't ask a guy in costume if he's a cop.
3. There's no standard dress code for car thieves, and the guy was just wearing common clothes. So Spidey's line made zero sense.

"Cheesy" refers to contrived, unrealistic devices thrown into a film to score laughs, shocks or other melodramatic effect.

Going back to the "Goblin Jr." line that was completely realistic for Peter at that moment, trying to humiliate Harry (After Harry had humiliated him) and under the influence of the symbiote.

It would have had to bomb massively for there not to be a sequel. Still, thanks to Asia, a big worldwide number is happening. The domestic number could have been a little better but it's still solid so far.

Good thing Raimi's Spider-Man never did anything like that. Oh... wait...
