BvS The Barry Allen/Flash Casting Thread

Maybe a news report about a strange crime fighter or merely a quick flash...eh...near the end of the movie, but I honestly don't think it's necessary in this film.

What's this talk of changing the Flash to a Latino? That's ****ing ridiculous. And no I'm not being ethnically insensitive - the Flash is simply not Latino.

Barrillo Allen?

Really? So the Flash has to be white? Why is his race so important, honestly? It wouldn't impact his character in the least. As long as they get a good actor to play the role, I don't care how dark his skin is. So, are you one of the people that would be all up in arms if Denzel Washington landed the role of Lex?

Agreed, but some people are just too narrow-minded to accept any change, unless the real reason is the more nauseous one.

I guess I could see if he's your favorite character and all - in that case change may be more difficult to accept. I mean it would be hard at first for me to think of, say, Idris Elba playing Bruce Wayne, but honestly after a few minutes, I'd be kind of excited to see that film!

As I have always said, it depends on the character. I can't really see anything inherently white about any of the Flashes, apart perhaps from Jay Garrick.

I think peoples annoyance stems more from that it's possible they may specifically be setting out to cast Flash as Latino just for the sake of it, which would be the wrong way to go about it. I have no issue with Denzel for Lex, because he was suggested because he could nail the role, not for the sake of diversity. If you specifically want a latino member of the JL use Kyle Rayner.

Was Kyle Latino? I always assumed he was Jewish.

Denzel as Lex would be awesome! :yay:

his father was named gabriel valesquez, and was a cia operative who's alias was doug rayner or something. i made up doug. why would you think he's jewish?

I can't remember. Partly the name, no doubt, but I'm sure I have seen it referenced in at least one comic. Haven't read GL or GLC for years, though.

Don't give me nightmares like that.

"I'M THE FESTEST MAN ALIVE YOU THON OF A BEECH!"

but think about when the trickster is monologueing, and he says "good day! i said good day!" or "yo momma!"

Just how many characters are supposed to be in this film? So far there's Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Lois and then I've heard of Nightwing, Lex, and Flash. Plus whoever else is supposedly in this movie as well, but I guess as long as it's done more like The Dark Knight Rises, in terms of side-characters each having an arc, and less like X-Men 3, lets shove as many guys in there as we can with no characterization, I think we'll be fine.

Flash is still just a rumor atm, as is Nightwing, I personally doubt either will be in the film with all the false rumors WB's has been putting out.

True. I thought the Wonder Woman thing was a sure fire false rumor though before it was confirmed. I thought if anything they'd do the whole Supergirl thing since there's that prequel comic and then some great source material in terms of the Batman/Superman: Supergirl story arc.

but supergirl can't be his cousin. she's superman's ancestor, since she was in that ancient pod for 2000 yrs or whatever. superman would try to snap her neck if he knew a kryptonia survived the desolation of metropolis.

Or it could provide the drama of whether he should trust his own family or not. Superman can ask the question "Are all Kryptonians evil? Can I trust my own family?" while Batman's input can be "How could you even ask that? She didn't grow up on Earth like you did! We can't trust her."

not bad. my only problem with supergirl is she is still a podbaby. she can't ever think freely or go against biology like superman can. it'll just be like girl zod who can't control her powers. i'd just like to move past kryptonian stories. there's so much untapped potential for a superman film.

anyway...flash...i'm trying to think of more latino actors...

Oh come on! :lmao:

I don't think that is the reason for most. For me I wouldn't want a studio to narrow it down and say we are only looking at latino actors. If a latino actor fits the role best that is fine, but to change things just for the sake of changing things is usually pointless and usually ends up for the worst.

If the Flash was rumored to be a woman people would get upset and no one would call them narrow minded.
