Just throwing it out there but Domhnall Gleeson could be interesting. Has anybody else suggested him?

A young Ethan Embry would've been a good Barry Allen...he kinda looks Lex-ish now.

I haven't seen him in anything since Black Mirror, and although he was good, I was distracted by some certain scenes with Hayley Atwell.

IMO,

Chris Pine has the better look and personality for Barry Allen.
Barry is a likeable guy who always tries to do the right thing, and
often ends up getting screwed for it (something I though Geoff
Johns got absolutely right).
His version of Kirk is much more human, and relatable than
Shatner's (although Shatner will always be Kirk ! he's the man).
So IMO, Pine for Barry.

Just can't see Aaron Paul as a super-hero, not in terms of look
or of charm, does have more of a serial killer vibe.

Casting Wally would be a more difficult task.....especially as it would be
a young Wally. You'd need to get his youthful exuberance, without
making him really annoying.

I think Pine would be great.

Pine gets suggested for everything, but I think he would be a good fit for Barry or Wally. I love Aaron Paul, but I've never understood that casting suggestion.

Plus Pine actually looks like Barry.

Yeah, he does. I still like the old suggestion of Garrett Hedlund too, though he gets a lot of hate around here because some people didn't like Tron. I did though.

I'm just throwing this out there, but what you guys think of Jim Sturgess? I liked him on 21 and thought he'd be an interesting Barry.

I still think Jake Gyllenhaal would be a fantastic choice to play Barry Allen/The Flash!

Yeah, Hedlund's got the look alright ( I'm one of the few people
who admits to liking Tron legacy, hated it on the big screen but after repeated viewings on DVD I get it now, and actually it's a good movie !)

anyway, I prefer Pine, because Hedlund's a decent actor, but Pine
has more charm, and comes across as smarter - and Barry's a smart
guy.

In fact he's one of the most complete superheroes, in that he possesses
amazing power, only ever uses it to help others, but is also an intellectual
, a family man, and practically selfless - he and Superman have a lot in common, but Barry's probably smarter.

So, yup, Chris Pine as Barry Allen. I think it would do wonders for the character (since Pine has done a good job of reinterpreting Captain Kirk).
I stand by my original suggestion.

That still leaves the question of Wally though.

Jim Sturgess is good, but I always think of Barry as a little older, more Pine's age. Just IMO.

I could almost see him more of a Jay Garrick type (his initials even match lol) but, probably too young (unless they updated Jay's origin to be more recent)

Therefore Pine should be kept well away.
This is your answer to Batmannerism's "Chris Pine has the better look and personality for Barry Allen".
Explain how you think here, please! :)

Should an actor who doesn't fit the character be the one to take the role?

Eh, I'd say they're about even. Pine has more of the leading man charisma, while I would say Hedlund is a bit more versatile. Pine, as much as I like him, is been pretty similar in a number of films (Star Trek, Unstoppable, This Means War). That's not necessarily a bad thing; a lot of actors have a persona that carries from movie to movie because they know what works. But chances are, Pine would play Barry in a way similar to how he plays Kirk. Hedlund, on the other hand, seems to vary his performances more (Tron, Troy, Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers), so I'm not sure what we would get if he ended up in the role. Either could work though, I think.

So I looked at Grant Gustin's twitter for a second. He tweeted this photo. It's a fan made Flash suit.

If the Flash suit looks anything like this or they hire this guy at all, I'm down for Grant as the Flash.

I say Rosenbaum would go with Batfleck well. And yeah, his voicing of The Flash has something to do with it :cwink:

NO ARMOR!!!!!

Do NOT want to see robo-iron Flash! **** that.

This is the modern day equivalent of black rubber, can we PLEASE get away from the bat armor/Iron Man influence for everything, please?!

The mask looks good. He needs something armor on the mask if he trips on something and lands on his head.

Then don't write a scene where he trips and lands on his head. Also, Speed Force. No armor of any kind.

Yep. People these days are obsessed with protecting superheroes as if they are made of eggshells. What's it all about? Are people just more sheltered and afraid of the world than they used to be?
