The Bat Summer of '95

then Jim Carrey is an idiot...

Couldn't agree more. He always has been an idiot.

His riddler characteristics as carrey has said
were a tribute to Frank Gorshin (R.I.P)

Wanna know what killed Gorshin? Watching Jim Carrey's Riddler.

Fact is, Gorshin was leaps and bounds beyond Carrey and as stated above, Carreys an idiot.

I've been a bat-obsessive as far back as i remember(from watching Adam West show to family buying me the comics b4 i could read), I was 20 when BF came out, there was a midnight preview of Batman Forever on in Glasgow i wouldve normally went to but i was playing a gig that night with a band, didnt stop the drummer buying a ticket tho and blowing out the gig, he split while we were tuning up(we were drunk and taking too long), we got a friend from another band who was there to fill in (he actually played better than our own guy), myself and the bass player went to see BF the next day of course. I loved it even though i knew it wasnt anywhere near the kind of Batman movie i really wanted, had waited a long time to see a live action version of two-face, just seeing the scarred coin flipping up was great. Also got a major kick out of seeing the flying graysons/Robin's origin, really liked the scene with O'Donnell fighting the day-glo gang and Batman scaring them all away and Robin cloth-mask rescuing Bats from the dirt pile which was very like that scene in 'Lonley place of dying ' when Bats meets Tim Drake for 1st time, mustve been a straight lift.
Made up for missing that midnight BF preview when BB came out, saw that mid.preview and went twice the next day, that was more like the Batmovie id been waiting on, ill be there at the 1st midnight showing of DK no matter what.

I always cringed at the way the actor delivered the line "Oh no its boiling acid". Don't know why but it bugged the hell out of me.

How about "Batman! Aaaaah!" in the Nygma party? I always thought it was the same guard but in a tuxedo.

I think I read somewhere that Newman from seinfeld was offered that role.

It would have been the ultimate thing having Two-Face shaking fist and going "Newman!"

It was lol. Kinda like how the Chinese man and Black woman who were scientist in B&R also showed up previously in the movie.

Dope thread,

Summer of 95 was a big year and there was a lot of Hype over Batman Forever. I guess cause it had been three years since the last one, but from mainstream aspect they were two things that got people's attention.
Firstly the inclusion of Robin. Most people associated the two characters of Batman and Robin as being a crime fighting team (guess from the old series) so some people wanted to see that. Secondly was the inclusion of Jim Carrey. Dude was hot property back in 94-95 and it was almost certain he was going to get a role. Nevermind that he both he and Lee played the characters like a camp Joker and didnt even remotley come close to nailing them, Carrey's Riddler was at least entertaining (" You know that thing is nevr gonna heal if you pick at it" ).
I dont remember much about the critical reception ( I mean I was 12..I wasnt exactly checking) but it seemed a lot more accesible to a wider audience and man was there an aumbundance of toys. Every toy store had them figures of all the main characters.
I know the promotions were crazy, if you went up to six-flags it didnt stop and Burger King had those cups with all the faces of th characters on them.
One of the big things I remember was all the promo on TV and in billboards, You couldnt go anywhere without seeing it.
And of course the Soundtrack. Suprisingly it did really well on the charts ( I think it even went platinum) and you always saw and heard the songs on TV and radio and on MTV:

and of course my favourite...

The Michael Hutchne song Passenger was dope too.
