I have to marinate on this one. I would probably say The Batman is the better movie but Superman had the much taller order after all the prior damage to the brand. Revitalizing Supes felt like an almost impossible task to the point where I was worried it was going to bomb critically and financially all the way up to the release. I was never worried about The Batman; I figured it would do fine.

Either way, I loved both. Very, very different kinds of films, as they should be for my two favorite superheroes.

Ooh, this is a tough one... they're such different films, but at the core, both aim to do the same thing: reintroduce a legendary hero a few years into their journey and kickstart a new cinematic universe.

Honestly, my preference could change depending on the day. Both are definitive takes on their characters—it just depends on whether I'm in a Batman or Superman kind of mood. That said, either one is far more rewatchable than anything that came out of the Snyder-verse.

For me, The Batman (and soon, Superman once it hits HBO Max) have joined the ranks of the DCAU animated movies and series as go-to rewatches—those used to be my “at least they got the characters right” comfort zone. Thankfully, Reeves and Gunn have captured that same spirit in live action, each in their own way.

While The Batman is the better film imo, I had more fun watching Superman.

Yeah I feel like this is going to end up being a comment sentiment among a lot of fans. I have friends that I had to convince to watch The Batman (mainly due to the runtime) but even after they did, they thought it dragged and couldn’t really get into it. I don’t share that sentiment at all (I personally view it like a delicious steak that you savor every minute of) but I can see why it doesn’t work for everyone. Especially after the slick, kinetic action and pace of the Nolan Batman films (which I also love). And I know at least one of those friends who as REALLY looking forward to Superman and now having seen it, I suspect she will love it. But we’ll see.

For me personally, I could probably sit down and rewatch Superman anytime, while rewatching Batman requires me to be in the mood for it. But it’s definitely a movies I’ve seen (and will continue to see) multiple times.
