Drama The Bear (HULU/FX)

Has this show gotten any buzz? Most people I’ve talked to haven’t heard of it
It's been getting a lot of praise from critics, and I see people here and there talking about it.

But it's like we were debating on another thread regarding weekly release or not. And I feel like the conversation around The Bear won't last long.

I don't hear many non critics or online folks talking about it. But they're promoting it heavy on the HULU homepage.

I'm gonna check it out. I hesitate because, and I know this isn't nice, something about Jeremy Allan White bothers me. I don't know why...

But yeah I'll try and watch it. Heard nothing but good things

I've only seen Jeremy Allan White in a couple of things (The Rental and Movie 43) but he's incredible in this.

Yeah I only heard about it because I was reading an unrelated Reddit topic and people brought it up. I think the issue behind it is the creator Christopher Storer hasn’t done much else prestige wise so doesn’t get the write-ups that someone like Sam Esmail would.

I work pt at a brewery/burger joint and everyone is raving on it - even folks who rarely watch tv have already binged it.

I would maybe say this about anything else, but The Bear. I feel like it's greatness is being passed around like a new dope food joint would be - ironically.

I think it's easily the show of the summer. It will have a larger (and I think already does) word-of-mouth than Obi-Wan/Stranger Things/etc., while those are larger audiences - the people that will watch those have and the people who haven't, won't.

Before this I was only familiar with Jeremy Allen White's work from Sam Esmail's 'Homecoming' series.

I loved Homecoming but don’t remember him from it. Stephan James stole that show for me.

For those not familiar with Allen's work, he was even better in Shameless, imo, but that's coming from 11 seasons of work.

Just finished.

Great final episode.

Great Emmy tape too.

Yeah he's on Viceland a lot. Cool dude.

Also it's funny how he's not a cook on the show but who wants to be one.

Woke up a little late last Saturday morning and decided to start this in bed. Ended up binge watching the entire season in a few hours. Best way I've spent a Saturday morning in awhile.

The show is just really really GOOD. Great acting and directing all the way around. The 1 shot in episode 7 was magnificent (besides the opening, I believe the entire episode was a 1 shot?).

Being in the restaurant industry myself, The Bear nailed the conversations, interactions and nuances of that world really well.

Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a season 2.

YES CHEF. Also, I came to this realization this morning.

...Hannibal fandom bonds over odd (sometimes sweet) erotic art they create / The Bear's fandom bonds over regrettable f*ck-boi relationships.
