The Biggest Band In The World?

at the moment its U2

I think it changes around. Like, historically, it is and will always be The Beatles, with The Stones at second place. But from then on, the 'biggest band in the world' at any given moment changes around a lot. For instance, in the early '90s it was Nirvana, then some time in the mid-'90s it was Oasis, until the boy bands took over. As for right now, in terms of who is selling the most records and the most seats at concerts, it'd probably be The Stones, U2, or Coldplay.

When factoring album sales, touring and drawing fans and name recognition, the only 3 acts that come to mind are the rolling stones, u2 and metallica.

the stones have not sold as many records as Michael Jackson, and none of the stone's or the beatle's tours grossed as much as any one of Michael Jackson's tours. every single one of his tours grossed more than any tour performed by any other musician or artist.

the beatles and Mj are in their own league. whoever is in third place, is several leagues below them. I actually read up on the 100 greates selling artists of all time, and I can't remember who was in third, but I think it was Garth Brooks, and he didn't sell half as much as the beatles or Michael Jackson.

The Rolling Stones I believe hold the record for highest grossing tour ever.

As someone said, it will always be The Beatles, with The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin not far behind.

However, of the modern bands, I'd say Green Day. I hate them, but seeing as how everyone else I know blindly worships them, I'm going to give them the honor.

I preferred the days when "The HOTtest band in the land!" was:

No, Space Ace was not gay, just drunk.

I used to quite like KISS. Later, I became an adult.

Lemme guess - the Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

Of all time, definitely. Don't forget The Rolling Stones and The Who, either.

Any music thread on this site always devolves into Beatles vs. Led Zeppelin. I'm just predicting it.

Well, they're generally regarded as the best and rightfully so. Though, personally, The Beatles rank behind Zep, The Who & The Stones for me.

So that means that there's nothing else to discuss about music?

No. It just means that they are the two most influential bands rock and roll has had to offer, so naturally they'll come up more often than most other bands.

That was the first time PLAS and I ever came to a moment over anything...when I said I have "Peter Pan Syndrome" and he said, "DoO0Ood! Me TOO!"

Rock and Rollers tend to hate authority (Mum+Da....the coppers,....C.Lee or Dew, God, etc.), love sensualism (eating scary foods, screwing chicks and tripping out on drugs), and they cling to the mindless pleasures of childhood like epoxy clings to porous balsa wood.

I'm now working on the mix and EQ between the drums, bass and the obscenely luxurious FOUR tracks of guitar on this song about Sawney Beane that I wrote.
I guess a "stable bastion of maturity" would be.....what?....mowing the lawn?...going over his portfolio?....right now?

Pfff:)

I wish people would actually look up info before posting.

I think the Stones are just as influential as the Beatles or Zep. In fact I hear more Stones influence in current stuff than I do Beatles, although I like the Beatles more.

All those bands are great though.

Without a question, the biggest band in the World at the moment is U2. This is not up for debate. The Stones may still be able to pack shows at the same rate as U2, but they can't sell any new records anymore. So, it is not The Stones. It is U2. Like it or hate it, they are the biggest band in the World - period.

Do you ever have anything nice or positive to say about anything, ever?
