Shazam The Billy Batson/Shazam casting thread

I think Channing Tatum is the near perfect choice. Shazam is never going to be a serious movie and Tatum is gifted in comedy. He also has terrific chemistry with the Rock. If it isn't him I'd go with Armie Hammer who has pulled off the lovable doof role in the past with Lone Ranger.

Channing Tatum or Armie Hammer definitely for me have to be the front runners for who DC should cast

Shazam! (2019) is the origin story of how Billy Batson is introduced to the powers of a hero and the sacrifices necessary to keep them. Starring Zac Effron (Shazam), Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam), and Jeff Bridges (the Wizard). With scenes that transcend both time (Ancient Egypt), space (the Rock of Eternity), and reality (Tawky Tawny), there are many opportunities for action, comedy, and moments of Zen.
The cast would appeal to a WIDE demographic of movie goers.

This is an excellent rendering, it totally works!

John Krasinski is my top choice a very good actor who can do drama and comedy and has that kid like personality and he is very likable not to mention he is a big guy at 6'3

I love basically everything you described above, except effron as Cap. Marvel/Shazam...

For me, anyone other than Ritchson would be a disappointment. The man is perfect for Shazam, and looks more like him than most of the people suggested for the role.

I feel like he's earned the role in something like this.

Agreed. I'm open to other suggestions, but, so far, he seems to be the best choice.

Very odd that no development has progressed yet. This has been in the works for years. Make it happen already.

Well, the movie is, for now, scheduled for 2019. I don't think it's odd, considering it's still far away.

looks like Ritchson may be Shazam. very happy about this if true

I don't know if he's joking or not, but, as a Cap. Marvel/Shazam fan, this news got me very excited!

I do hope he's not playing with us. :woot:

I don't believe it for a second.

I want Ritchson as Shazam but I'm not holding my breath.

Same, although I did say the same for Cavill as Superman & Bale as Batman. I got both of those, so just hope that I can get 3 for 3 :woot:

I think his casting is really a no brainer though, I really can't see anyone else in the role.

Augustus Prew

He's on this show Pure Genius that i'm sure will be cancelled. He has a really child like face that i think would be great for Capt. M

I've noticed that John Cena has gotten a lot more exposure lately. Could it be that his agents are grooming him for the role?

John Cena was pretty fun in his small role in Trainwreck. His new movie The Wall though looks like it's an attempt at serious acting.

Armie Hammer would my favorite choice,he has the height and size to go toe to toe with the rock, maybe he would need to workout a bit.
Ritchson,Tatum and Cena could work too

Still say, it's the role that Hammer is being tagged for....

You know, I could actually see that. Everything since Hammer's involvement in the DC films got teased has been so "Hal this, Hal that" and I haven't been feeling that at all, but I could really see him in this part.

I'd still say Channing Tatum, but I wouldn't be opposed to Hammer.
