Whats happened with this movie? They haven't even release trailer yet.

The movie will be released on September 15th.

Studio: Universal Pictures
Director: Brian De Palma
Screenwriter:
Josh Friedman
Starring: Josh Hartnett, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Eckhart, Mia Kirshner, Hilary Swank
Genre: Thriller
MPAA Rating: R (for strong violence, some grisly images, sexual content and language)

Plot Summary:
Master storyteller Brian De Palma, known for such classic crime dramas as "The Untouchables," "Scarface" and "Carlito's Way," as well as his suspense thrillers "Carrie," "Dressed to Kill" and "Blow Out," directs this adaptation of James Ellroy's ("L.A. Confidential," "American Tabloid") best-selling crime novel.

"The Black Dahlia" weaves a fictionalized tale of obsession, love, corruption, greed and depravity around the true story of the brutal murder of a fledgling Hollywood starlet that shocked and fascinated the nation in 1947 and remains unsolved today. Two ex-pugilist cops, Lee Blanchard (Aaron Eckhart) and Bucky Bleichert (Josh Hartnett), are called to investigate the homicide of ambitious silver-screen B-lister Betty Ann Short (Mia Kirshner) A.K.A. "The Black Dahlia"-an attack so grisly that images of the killing were kept from the public.

While Blanchard's growing preoccupation with the sensational murder threatens his marriage to Kay (Scarlett Johansson), his partner Bleichert finds himself attracted to the enigmatic Madeleine Linscott (two-time Oscar® winner Hilary Swank), the daughter of one of the city's most prominent families-who just happens to have an unsavory connection to the murder victim.

True crime meets urban legend when De Palma brings Ellroy's "The Black Dahlia" to the big screen.

So when they will start promotion finally?

I really, really want to see this. It sounds like it's gonna be really great. The plot sounds good, the cast is great and De Palma is a genius.

And it's got Scarlett Johansson, who is currently the hottest woman in the world.

Again, I will agree with you. I also like Mena Suvari ;)

the thing is, I really doubt they'll be able to show how insanely butchered she really was...I've seen crime scene and mourge photos, and you can hardly even tell it was a person, let alone a beautiful woman, and that was the main thing that put the murder this is based around into the publics collective conciousness...so...yeah

Ellroy last year said that he wasn't expecting a great adaptation of his book with that casting. But to me it seems like a good cast, most of the actors are very good ones, and they look like the characters in the book.

It looks like he changed his mind lately:

Ellroy said on Monday night that he's watched hours of dailies from DePalma's film and said he would be doing promotion for it and, like with L.A. Confidential, that he's fairly happy with the end result.

His favorite element in The Black Dahlia, he said, is Josh Hartnett, who plays a haunted cop named Bucky Bleichert who, along with partner Lee Blanchard (Aaron Eckhart), is assigned to look into Short's (Mia Kirshner) grisly murder. (Her nude body was found in two pieces, sliced at the waist, on south Norton Avenue.)

Ellroy said, "Hartnett reads lines that I wrote with near perfect inflection every time."

I'm really looking forward to this, So far this year has been horrible for movies,It better be a killer winter.

Well after fumbling for the remote to turn it up...
It shows the guys all standing over the mutilated body from the shot that pic up above comes from with a voice over saying how she was found cut up and her insides gone, then darn Billy Bush started doing a voice over over it:mad: , then mostly some shots of Hartnett, Scarlett and quite a bit of Swank (actually looking like a woman on film). It was hard to make out, it went by quick and I was rather distracted at the time honestly. There is a shot of the victim, I think it was a drawing with her face oddly resembling the Joker.

Sounds good,Any action ?

I saw Brian DePalma name and lost all hope, everything he touches is hopelessly mediocre with highlights of greatness, he's never evolved as a film-maker, he has stay hopelessly inert for a long time, the only good film he's made is "Untouchables"...

Yeah, but you know how trailers action can be cut and edited so it seems like alot is going on when its really not. It was one of those, lots of quick cuts at the end. It looks more like a thriller/mystery, very DePalma:up:
