The BrAiN tEaSeR Thread

This is a thread where anyone can post, discuss, and solve brain teasers, riddles, and any other math-related puzzles.

How it Works:

1. After a riddle has been posted, users will be able to guess, solve, and discuss and offer solutions to the original posters of the riddle until either the original poster confirms the correct answer or if the correct answer is found to be a general answer that is accepted by more than four other people.

2. There can be no more than two riddles "open" for discussion at a time.

3. A riddle does not expire until after 24 hours. What this means is, that until the correct answer is confirmed by the user or until a general answer is accepted as the true answer, the riddle will play out. After 24 hours, the original poster must post the solution as soon as possible.

4. A user can post as many riddles as they want, but not two riddles can be consecutively posted by the same user. So, after a riddle is solved, it's first come first serve in getting your riddle posted.

5. These riddles do NOT by any means have to be original, but be warned, if using an unoriginal riddle or brain teaser, try to mix up the words you use and the numbers within the original riddle as to slow down those with "Google-itis". :D

6. Also, once a riddle has been solved, the original poster of the riddle must edit their post and insert the link to the post where the riddle was solved.

Now, onto our first riddle!:

On a hot day on a farm, 60% of the animals are chickens. 70% of the animals are laying around, and 30% of the animals laying around are goats.

Question: What is the maximum percent of animals on the farm that could be chickens laying around?

NOTE: This Riddle Has Been Solved

-TNC

32% - Rounded

31.6% - Actual

It's 60% because it doesn't say how many of the chickens are standing, so there could be no chickens standing and all laying down. And since he said before that 60% of the animals are chickens and going by the fact that they could all be laying down, the answer is 60% of those animals are chickens! Or, all of the chickens.

Ya know, it doesn't hurt to explain where these percentages are coming from..

60% of the animals on the farm are chickens laying around? That's impossible. The farm only has 60% chickens.

70% of the animals are laying around and 30% of them laying around are goats.

-TNC

70% lying around, 30% are goats, so it has to be 40%

a thankyou

49%

70% lay, so say thre are 100 animals. 70 are laying.

70 X .3 = 21 (30% of 70)

That means 21% are goats. Take 70 - 21 = 49

49%

I feel smart!

bah, f*** math

nice work Spider-Fan

Ok, let's get the next riddle up and going! Who's next?

-TNC

I'll go next.

A man pulls his car up to the front of a hotel. He instantly knows he's broke Why?

Answered: He's playing Monopoly.

BTW, do we have a good way to track the open questions? It could be that they get asked on another page and someone posts a third without realizing it.

Hmmm...Well, we'll track them as they come I suppose. I suggest editing the original post in which the last riddle was answered.

I'll do that now.

-TNC

A man? That's ME! I'm A-Man! How do I know I'm broke? Cause I don't have enough money for my own house so I am sleeping in my car outside the parking space at the Hotel!

lol. I know the answer, but I cheated. I'll let someone else get it.

I guess, technically from my own rules, I can post another riddle now.

Riddle #3
You have a bucket of Coke and a bucket of Pepsi. You take a cup of Coke and pour it into the bucket of Pepsi. After thoroughly mixing, you then take a cup of this mixture and pour it back into the Coke bucket.

Question: Is there more Coke in the Pepsi or is there more Pepsi in the Coke?

NOTE: This Riddle Has Been Solved

-TNC

More coke in the Pepsi. Cause a percentage of the cup of Mixture already has some coke in it however the percentage of the original cup was all coke.

more coke in the pepsi

no idea on the other,
cause he doesnt have a wallet??
cause hes in a tow truck??
who knows

The Hotel thing-> It takes all of his money to stay at the hotel.
