What happens if it rains?
Well, whoever his parents are, they can't be good. Otherwise, their finding him would not be a problem. So now I'm really wondering if Black Manta might turn out to be his father and his mother would be Mera.
Or maybe he'll transform into... a car!Well apparently water effects him... Maybe he transforms into a FISH MAN!!!!!
Give me money.

But it's not soft racism at all. It's replacing characters who in the end are discardable with the original more iconic, irreplaceable, versions. There is no racism going on.
It would be racism if Ryan Choi was killed off because he was Asian. No he was killed off for poorly written shock value and because we now have Ray Palmer back.
It would be racism if they got rid of Cassandra Cain because she was Asian. No, she was replaced because of piss poor editorial mandates tainted the character so they replaced her with the most logical choice, someone who essentially is her best friend.
My country club isn't RACIST, we're just going back to the ICONIC, IRREPLACABLE country club atmosphere (by kicking out all the black people)
I can understand the business rationale of bringing in their iconic characters to try and foster some sense of nostalgia. On the other hand, let us not forget that DC's business practices over the past years has led to them being barely able to hang on to new or old readers, consistently edged out by Marvel, and the both of them having to rely on events and movies to sell their books...and that's not even bringing manga into the conversation. That business? If you ask me, I don't think DC should be too attached to whatever they're doing to their characters in order to run that business.
And sorry, but I don't buy this mentality that the original versions of characters will always come back with no exceptions, as if it were just an unstoppable occurrence of nature and that some dudes didn't sit around in an office and deliberately make the choice to have it happen...and even in that case, there's nothing preventing old and new characters from coexisting anyway, other than some misguided sense of proprietorship from the writers and readers. The fact that minority characters have been marginalized at DC was not some inevitable, unpreventable course of action. It was the result of series of deliberate decisions made one after another over the course of years; certainly not the intended result, but the result either way.
Race and Gay and stuff like that doesnt matter to me in comics i just want good stories.
lol I agree completely. With the Hawks you have to have both on the team, it would be like buying a Twix candy bar and just get 1 candy with the Carmel cookie crunch. They are a devastating 2 pack and are the prime couples that show that love can conquer all, in an awesome/corny way. I thought the comics Kendra twist was interesting, but now I'm thrilled to see her as Shiera and getting face time on Brightest Day.
Nothing against John Stewart, but it seemed too much like DC Animated U was making an effort to change things up for the sake of it, like the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Hawkman was written terribly in the animated series, making him Hawkgirl's stalker,he absorbed all the memories, and how they tied in Shadow Theif... really bad work. Some of the Justice league Unlimited episodes make my blood boil, especially the Flash episode with his rogues. I know they were goofy then, but they are a serious now and when the episode aired. And don't forget they planted the seeds from batman Beyond with Warhawk, the son of John Stewart and Shiera Hall...That was another bad twist to the animated Hawks continuity.
Huh. Seems like an okay origin, I guess. Kind of absurd to try and keep a kid away from all water, though. Does that mean he's never taken a shower in his life?
I don't know who that is.Maybe Elphaba is his real mother?
Agreed
DC is losing out to Marvel because Marvel has a modern approach and feature diverse and interesting characters
DC has only three major gay characters two prominent black characters and only two major latino characters
I don't know who that is.
Barry Allen and Hal Jordan are not boring though. The Flash is off to a great start and Green Lantern is freaking awesome. If you tell the average writer to write what comes naturally you get boring caucasian heterosexuals like Barry Allen and Hal Jordan
