Unless you rip it from Cornell's myspace, I don't the film version/music video version is available. The Itunes one is the original that you have.

the song was awesome, how come I didn't know about Chris Cornell before?

I heard about him when I was in thailand with my family. One of the tv stations had MTV asia and they played "be yourself" twice a day

I've been a fan of Cornell for years, from when he was in Soundgarden's earlier days right through to his solo album, Audioslave stuff and now this Bond song. He's very adaptive; although rock music is his primary genre, his solo album was much more mellow and softer and even Soundgarden's music went from very heavy-ish at the start to more pop grunge at the end.

His voice is amazing though, he can hit an unusual combination of very low and very high notes ........ I think Wikipedia has info on it.

Personally I love the song - it's very catchy and stays in your head! It's different from previous songs but still has that Bond trademark; the arrangement, orchestral background and 'epic' serious feel that Bond songs need. It's a bit grittier and harder than we're used to, but then this is a grittier and harder 007 so I think the song is a perfect opener to the film.

May interest you to know that Cornell initially had no desire to be involved in the song for the film but he was treated to a copy of the script and a viewing of an unfinished version of the film ...... he then changed his mind and decided to write the song.

as a note to those who didn't liek the song, or say there are worse: everyone is forgetting the ABSOLUTEL WORST SONG EVER in the Bond movies:

License to Kill...

Horrible, just Horrible

You know My Name is good stuff...not to mention a great play on the "The name's Bond...James Bond" line :D

Licence to Kill was not the worse song, TWINE was god aweful!

^^ TWINE was ok, but really

"I've got a licence to kill/
and you know I'm going straight for your heart"

???? THat is pretty damn bad...

I loved that opening theme from Chris. I've always liked his voice and it went really well with the credits and the movie. I have to get the soundtrack now.

At first I was like wait I know that voice, is it, and a second later I knew it, I was like yes it is, then it showed his name in the creds. :woot: :word:
...Why are you the way that you are... :ninja:

I love the song "YOU KNOW MY NAME" IMO It's The Best Bond song since GoldFinger .

Sometimes I suspect the BO disappointment of LTK was partially due to the terrible theme song. But that said, DAD had probably the worst song ever. Worst Bond movie, worst theme-song, worst videoclip also.

The film version of "Licence To Kill" doesn't do the song justice. I much prefer to listen to the original from the 30th Anniversary Bond CD. It has the slow buildup, the Goldfinger horn line and then Gladys Knight's wailing voice. It's really powerful.

LTK may be one of my favourite Bond films, but suffers from one of the least exciting PTS of the series, and the main title being edited doesn't help.

I freaked when I heard the song in the theater, I didn't know he was doing it, such a great song too.

SOLO Cornell:huh: is something I'll have to get used to, and I hope he comes harder than that Bond song. He's esentially been in the same group since a couple of the Soundgarden cats were in Audioslave...which is the best group ever bytheby...next to Rage.

He is a rock guy who can actually sing though, compare him to these new half queer bands, and Greenday clones and he blows them away. Yet he's always had great accompanyment.

I'll give him a listen, he hasn't let me down since I got hip to him in '91 and that's a damn good track record.

Hey I love soundgarden, but the worse thing about Casino Royal - edit, the only bad thing about the movie was the song and the intro animation... CHEESE.

That intro animation was really cool, very good visually and really well done

Nobody else from Garden was in 'Slave  it was Cornell with the three non-singers from Rage...

I hate the song, honestly. Just boring and cheesy, yet I really liked the movie. And the one for TWINE seems to get some hate but that one's among my favorites (and the style of it I think would've fit CR more)
