The "Christopher Young's score was awful" thread.

Why is there so much harshness towards the Sandman theme? I thought it worked fine.

I like all their themes. Venom's ain't bad either.

When Sandman reformed himself for the first time, the music was pretty damn awesome in my opinion.

score was weird and superman returns did stink...ghost rider was better than superman returns. movie was cool, just hated the jazz club scene.

ryo jin, just cuz you liked the movie doesnt mean we have to too.... and yeah, why should we have to lower our expectations for this movie just because we knew it was going to fall off the map?

QUESTION......... i know the soundtrack is out already but,
what about the official SPIDERMAN 3 MUSIC SCORE, just like we had for sm1 and 2 with danny elfman,, will they sell it, does it anyone know?

lol!

somebody oughta recut this movie with elfmans work. as of right now i still cant get rid of that symbiote theme out of my head....its such a bad piece of "music".

I feel very sorry for the people who liked the score, they don't know good music when they hear it.:(

The score wasn't bad. It just wasn't what we're used to, having had to listen to Elfman's score in the past two movies. I think it's a comfort thing. Elfman has such a distinctive sound that hearing something so different from it, at least for me, took a while to get used to.

If Young did the score for the last two movies, and someone new did the score for this one, I think there'd be some similar conflicts.

Wow, yet another aspect for all you negative posters to bash on about this movie.

Here's the deal, you all overhyped the movie, and now you're whining just like emo parker did because it didn't live up to your standards.

:down :down

You sound very ignorant in that post.
Everybody gets hyped up for a movie. It's not like people knew it was going to be a sub-par movie. It's damn Spider-Man, for crying out loud.

I see what you mean.

Actually, the only score I really loathe is the black Spidey Theme. Sandman's rebirth on the other hand, I like a lot. And the rest I honestly can't remember.

If young did the score for the last two films I wouldn't have liked them as much.

And whats up with the morons pretending that talking about bad music in a freakin movie is nit-picking?

What would Terminator (mostly T2) be without Brad Fidel? SM3 has pretty much the same problem as SR regarding their music, a far less talented composer mixed up his lame music with the other composers good music, resulting in me just about hating the entire score. Yes the Sandman is born music works, but thats about it. Young adding some way over the top horns and other gobblygoop that just plain blew. Did you here the subway music? It blows and it's annoying. As much as I enjoyed Hellraisers music, it in no way quilified him to replace one of the must respected composers around, who by the way scored Batman, one of the best scores around. Words can not discirbe how much I missed Elfman, a man who was bashed by some of these same people who are bashing Young now. Make up your effin minds people!

Truth be told the music is another reason why the movie just doesn't work, but it's one of the things that I wanted touch up on because everyone else already touched on just about everything else.

Another person just made it on to my list of dudes who should not compose comicbook movies. Number one is Ottman because his none special ass composed forgetable X-Men music, lame ass Superman music and the Fantasic Four music, which oddly enough, is the music of his I dislike the least.

To be perfectly fair to Chris, Raimi gave him a weak movie to score, doesn't mean he should have half assed it.

It was horrible. Even the way he cut and pasted Elfman's main theme came off like a hack job. Sandman's music made me want to blow my brains out.

I'm sorry, but Holy F**king S**t are you seriously that screwed up that a f**king score would make you kill yourself??

I'm so sick of people poking and jabbing and tearing this movie to shreds. I know I'm in the heat of the moment right now, but you people need to get a life if all you do is find things in this movie to poke at and simply destroy.:cmad:

The movie isn't going to change.

god damn please have my babies!~

if John Williams would've done the score to these Spider-Man movies it would've made them 10 times more enjoyable, and re-watchable.
still good movies nonetheless, but John Williams is pure magic.

You must be the third or fourth person to berate me and assume that I didn't like the movie for criticizing the score. I loved the movie. The lack of Elfman was my biggest gripe on a pretty short list of gripes.

You guys might think I'm nuts, but I'd wager that if we'd had Elfman scoring this one, a lot less people would be complaining (reminder: not me) about it being "sloppy" or "not cohesive". Because Young didn't do such a good job keeping things "together", or establishing the proper mood for the scene.

Third time though, just for fun: I loved this movie.

In my humble opinion, this thread should have never been made. Making a "I hate Chris Young's score" thread is basically giving people a warrant to bash on something with no need for an explanation. And the people who come and try to defend are never listened to because the only reason people are posting in here is to describe how much they hate the score. It's not even a discussion. Catman's Elfman vs. Young thread was much better because it wasn't made solely for the purpose of bashing, but for discussion and debate. People post good arguments that strongly back up their opinions, and its not a place for people to gather and emphasize their loathe and hatred toward Chris Young and his score.

I personally what very little Chris Young contributed to the score. He was obviously living in the big shadow of Danny Elfman, but I liked his new themes.

Now, I dont know who or how they add the music to the scenes, but is Chris Young really to blame for the "hack job" of the movie composition?

Eh, the themes weren't my favorite either, But I didn't hate them. I thought they were good, just not as good as the previous ones.

P.S. Anyone know where I could buy/download them, just for completions sake. I can't find them anywhere.

After a second viewing, I actually liked what Chris did. The Sandman theme was beautiful, and worked well with what they were trying to do. I wasn't so sure about the Venom theme but it grew on me.

Really this soundtrack is better than Spider-man 2. Why? Because Rami pissed off Elfman so much he pretty much had to use the temp tracks for the actual movie, and there wasn't enough time to get Chris Young involved to change the score, hence the train sequence is the hellraiser theme.

In any case, I think Chris did a good job.

I thought Young did a cool job. I liked the music during the first Peter/Goblin fight. I liked the music during the scene when Symbiote Spidey swings to the crime scene after choosing what scene to wear. I liked the music during the church scene, from the time you first see Spidey crouched down, to when venom roars at the screen.
