THE CINEMA LOUNGE

The Day of the Locust

Wow.

So Damien Chazelle pretty much remade this and got away with it?! He also made the subpar version of it too. Beat for beat scenes here, tis’ crazy, I’d have my lawyers on it asap. This out Babyloned ‘Babylon’ in 1975!. Lawd.

Hey look, a movie where I am interested in with Jai Courtney in the lead. Wonders never cease.

If any slasher fans buy movies on Vudu/Fandango at Home, I just saw they've got the Friday the 13th 8-film collection on sale for $13 today.

The French Dispatch

The first chapter was excellent! Benicio Del Toro/Brody/Lea Seydoux, with sprinkles of Tilda Swinton. Man! Seydoux doesn’t get enough cred as to how captivating she is, gaptooth and all, she is brave and haunting, always seems fearless. This segment was pure Anderson!

Sadly! The rest of the flick was a bloody bore to get through. Looked at my watch and we still had 40 minutes to go. Some wonderful animation in certain segments. Still, even a regular meh Wes Anderson is better than most. 7/10

RIP to the great over looked MIchael Madsen. Few bad career choices led him on a detour, which should have been ‘’more’’ in a sense. One of my favorite interviews is of him talking about doing all them awful straight to video European movies and using a bucket as a toilet. His IMDb is the definition of a working actor.
