The Collector

I thought (hoped) this movie would be better. The lead (Thief) was good though.

Yeah, I thought the killer was pretty cool and unique and there were a few suspenseful moments, but it was nothing amazing. I liked that it was a film that relied on suspense rather than gore. I mean, there was a ton of gore but it wasn't necessarily the focal point of the movie.

Too bad it totally bombed at the B.O.

I'm sure if they advertised it more and actually let people know it was out there it would've done better. It's a shame because it definitely left it open for a sequel.

yeah i didnt even know about it until i randomly stumbled upon a tvspot then looked online lol

in a decent world gi joe would bomb and this would do better

Don't worry all who liked it, cause it is getting a sequel and its shooting this October.

hopefully it doesnt go straight to dvd due to its low 7mil b.o ....
im sure it prob only cost about 2mil to make but the marketing is where the money went.

looking back to 2009 i cant remember any horror thriller being as good as this one..dont see why everyone hates it. It was pretty creative and the villain was pretty cool and original. Most of the reviews on rottentomatoes make out gore to be a taboo in horror films, especially with this stupid "torture-porn" tag on any horror films with alot of violence. Im ok with gore, its not why i saw this film... i liked it for its clever traps and cool villain.

I think the film only cost cost either 1.2 or 1.7 to make and made about 7 million. So that means it really made their money back.

I hate that term really "Torture Porn" Its just a term people use to be cool.

Also got this one for a few bucks at a bankrupt Blockbuster, can't wait to have something to watch it on though.

I'm a big fan of the SAW franchise and even found something to like in the later entries.

I love horror in general but especially movies with iconic characters and a slasher twist.

That said, this is inexcusably bad.

It would of worked perfectly as a 10 minute music video which would of condensed all the killings and creepy shots of the collector. That I could of went for as in the end the movie didn't have much more for story than a music video.

I'm all for killing and torture, but back it up with at least semi-compelling characters and some motive... Basically give us the semblance of a story.

There is absolutely no sense to this movie. Everyone is as one-dimensional and uninteresting as they can possibly be. Absolutely nothing is found out about the killer and I'm sure that this is their excuse to **** out a hopefully better sequel.

This collector isn't presented as a "supernatural killer" but you'd have to be super-natural in order to deck out a house with that many traps in such a short amount of time. At least the traps in SAW had plausibility and were generally more creative than a room with a bunch of dangling fish hooks or a floor covered in bear traps.

On top of all the crap he already lugs around with him he also seems to like to bring a giant box with one of his last victims alive inside it on site...

Someone please defend this movie to me and explain what it is I'm not getting here that couldn't be delivered in a much more coherent and fun way in movies like SAW or Hatchet.
