The Creator new sci-fi movie from Gareth Edwards

Happy to have Gareth and his gorgeous visuals back after so long :wowe:. Really hope the script is good too because this looks beautiful, the cast is great, and I believe this isn’t based on anything, so this being good and successful would be a huge win.

Wow. Already, this became one of my top movies to watch this year. I really like the premise, as well as the visuals and the aesthetic conveying a great sense of scale. The VFX also look really solid, tangible and very grounded in reality, but Gareth Edwards has always had a really good grasp of that, so that’s not too surprising.

Wow this looks absolutely amazing and I'm definitely getting Neil Blomkamp District 9/Elysium vibes from this as well as some Japanese/anime influence in there as well which is really cool.

The budget/scale of this looks pretty insane too.

As soon as I saw the large, high-tech, heavily secure door with Japanese writing opening to a room embedded with large, orange tubes/pipes in concrete containing a young special, precocious “child” experiment in front of a television set, I thought, “Someone really liked Akira”. :hehe:

This looks to be taking some familiar Sci-fi themes and ideas and putting an intriguing spin on them. :hmm

So refreshing to see something "new" of this scale.

Despite some of his misgivings as a director, I always felt Gareth Edwards' strong suits were impressive enough for me to not be bothered by them and this movie looks no different. Glad to see him back in the director's chair. This looks really gorgeous and an interesting spin on some sci-fi tropes.

This look damn good. Edwards is an under rated director for me.

And this movie is one of the reasons why Hollywood should stop inflating a lot of their movies' budgets. One of Gareth Edwards' traits that I admire is that he has a keen visual eye and knows how to work with limitations in that department to make a movie look good. Monsters is a good example of that.

And given bit of a higher budget, you get Godzilla 2014 and Rogue One. Which, despite the issues those movies may have, the effects looked fantastic and the cinematography was excellent.

Saw the trailer on the big screen in front of M:I. Gives me a bit of District 9 vibes. The FX look great but I hope the story is more interesting than the “protect the child” cliche.
